VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
0414 Wee Neal replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A problem with the mic key Hi Hollywood I have set everything up as per the instructions, I have watched the video and all was looking good. I have gone through the DCS controls setup and removed all F12 and F11 and generally checked and triple checked, then started my first test flight in A10c (Easy quick start mission). At the mission start I pushed forward and held the mic switch saying 'Start mission', at this point the screen image pans around the cockpit, the mic switch (TM HOTAS) seems to be working as a hat switch with me being able to pan around the cockpit. I hear the two beeps and the mission starts, but then immediately pauses. I can restart by pushing the 'pause key'. I also use Helios with the 'Cap Loz profile'. Are you able to advise where I have gone wrong? Thanks Neal (Bluethornton) -
Hi, I have Helios installed on my Windows 10 machine. I operate DCS on 3 BenQ W1070 projectors on curved screen with Helios on 3rd touch screen monitor. All was well in my little cockpit until last week when my mouse pointer suddenly stopped appearing on my 'Cap Loz' profile. I can see the pointer moving on the Windows desktop, underneath the Helios graphics. All touch controls still work. Any idea what could be the problem? Thanks Neal

Flight Qualifications Campaign
0414 Wee Neal replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
What to load Hi I have purchased all and run some of your missions and campaigns, which were great fun. I have due to numerous reasons had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of DCS world and A10c (I waited until 1.5 came out of beta) and I now need to reload all of your missions and campaigns again. Where is the best place to down load these and more importantly which ones? Thanks Neal -
Hi Tekkx thanks for starting this thread, I am also looking at network setup and saw http://www.gearbest.com/other-accessories/pp_226467.html Its a MAX485 TTL to RS-485 Module. I suppose the first simple question is 'will it work' with DCS BIOS. If that theoretically works, is it easier to use than making an RJ 45 based network? Neal

Hi Ian fully understand. I am currently designing a led matrix pcb to work with Max7219 chip (fritzing software) and will proof this through Fritzing pcb making service, happy to share to help you expand your system testing. Neal

Hi I would be interested in buying, currently building full set of panels. Neal

Hi I was using the very technical small pencil cross on the projector screen to mark the vanilla location and then aligning the projected hud image with the pencil cross. The projected hud was a pico projector onto a surface reflective glass, this was not brilliant as the resolution was not great. Neal

Hi thanks for the quick reply! I have previously tried exporting Hud as per PeterP long ago post, this worked ish but the 'mare' was trying to align with an external projected view (3 ceiling mounted projectors), I am assuming that I will still have this conundrum with UltraMFCD? Very much looking forward to your release date. Neal

hud export A10c Hi for a brief moment I got very excited about exporting a Hud image; i even poured a sweet sherry in celebration! Then i though it may have been a dream? Is it true old bean that you are working on an exportable hud for the A10c? Sherry is on ice in case! Neal, in wet blighty

Hi Cripple very interested in the use of the underlay, I have been trying all sorts for my Hog pit. What thickness is the rubber stuff, B&Q have a few different thickness's? Great thread by the way! Neal

Hi another potential option is that you have a shopping list of materials and goods that you personally need for your flight sim i.e. Arduino Mega boards, which people can buy for you through ebay etc as goods for service. Good old fashioned medieval bartering. I for one would be happy to donate a couple of Mega boards! Neal

Hi would you be willing to share the dimension you used for the cowl arch, its the vertical height thats critical? great pit by the way! in your earlier video i noticed that your front and side monitors looked great and it appeared that you were using a 3 view setup? how does that work for you? i have a 3 projector and curved screen setup, but cant get the 3 view monitor view to work very well. thanks Neal

Hi the only reason for asking was one of type/ease of connection i.e. reducing cables to pc. I have the cockpit built and have just finished making the panel faceplates, I have purchased all the switches, rotaries etc, the only items left to purchase are the Arduino boards and my understanding is there are 3 main connection options USB, RJ45 and Wifi(?) I have been following a number of threads that are discussing (Gremlins) I2C bus and ethernet options, which led me to wonder what benefits wifi would offer, within this context. I dont have an overly long usb cable run from cockpit to PC but it does require approx 6m length of USB cable for example. Thanks for your views and this excellent programme. Neal

Arduino wifi shield Hi Would there be any benefits of using Arduino WIFI shield instead of USB or RJ45? Thanks Neal

DCS-Bios + Arduino + MAX7219 = Caution Light Panel
0414 Wee Neal replied to ClayM's topic in Home Cockpits
Hi ClayM stumbled on your thread and read with a voracious need for information. I am at the 'downloading Fritzing' to start my design stage of the electronics. I have made the physical panel for the caution and also the left outer. Any wiring diagrams you are willing to share would be greatfully received! Neal -
Hi Ian et al I understand that DCS Bios operates with Arduino boards, does it matter which ones? I was anticipating using 'Arduino compatible Mega 2560 ATmega2560-16AU Board', would this be a correct choice please. I am building (eventually) a full cockpit, starting with the electrical panel. Thanks Neal

Hi John and Ian thanks for the insight into build your own, well worth the gamble on burnt fingers etc. I will give it a go.

Hi Ian, Not question really, but stumbled on this web page which sounds interesting for segment displays. Any thoughts on this type of approach/compatibility? http://www.flightsimparts.eu/Simulator_Arduino.html Neal

Major Announcement: New software to to connect panels to DCS
0414 Wee Neal replied to FSFIan's topic in Home Cockpits
Hi I have an uneducated question, would this software solution work with a POKeys card? Sorry for the silly question! Neal -
Hi I need help please! I have recently built a new computer and reloaded DCS World 1.2.14 and Helios with Loz profile. I have then tried to install the Peter P files to allow the export of the indicators (MFCD, RWR etc) but for a reason I cannot determine this is not working. I have tried this a couple of times but without success. For some reason the viewport .Lua files seem to be saved to Appdata/Roaming/Saved games file in Windows, which I am sure has never happened before. My setup consists of 3 projectors grouped together at resolution of 3840 x 1024 on a curved screen, using Immersive Display Pro blending software. Then have a 24" monitor set as a dashboard for Helios. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Neal __________________

Hello fellow flyers and pit builders The beginning - It started with me mooching around these forums for 2 to 3 years, learning many things. Initially I started flying with a basic joystick and mouse, all on single 19inch monitor, this developed over time to an eyeinfinity 3 screen setup and saitek pedals, flight levers, and trackIR. During these embryonic flight sim years I tried FSX, X Plane, BS2, Warthog and now DCS World. I finally decided to stick predominantly with DCS World. The evolution - As I developed my flying skills through many enjoyable hours and a fair few frustrations, I gradually brought additional equipment and looked at ways to enhance my enjoyment. One way was to build my own sim pit; which leads to my concerns with this great software! My observations, please feel to comment/advise: a. As I see it the software is in an almost permanent state of development, with regular and substantial changes to the file structures. This in itself can be positive and does show a commitment to the product by ED. However from the perspective of a ‘Pit builder’ it is counter productive and destructive in the sense that great work done by community individuals to allow exports, .Lua tweaks and utilities i.e. EMC and Hawgtouch becomes obsolete and erodes individuals enthusiasm. Is this a similar approach to that of Xplane a permanent development and never finished state? b. The DCS World engine is CPU hungry, not unlike FSX, not fully utilising the power of a modern GPU(?). There are numerous rumours surrounding ‘Edge’, which will modernise the simulation, these appear to have some substance; my concern that as there is no definitive release date; is this a sign of a lack of investment or longevity by ED? c. There are a number of development partners reported in the flightsim community e.g. Iris, but there do not appear to be any products being released, is this a cause for concern? You may ask why this conjecture; simply put is that I am concerned about committing to building a DCS Warthog sim pit, a Simulation that appears to be increasingly difficult to interface hardware with and extract data from. I understand that sim pits do not have to be tied to a single software, but frankly there are very few warbird simulators on the market and options limited. If anyone has a view on the longevity and more importantly the future integration prospects for DCS World I would be greatful to hear them? Neal - A novice flyer and pit builder:helpsmilie:

Hi all Like so many on this forum, I have started my Warthog Pit. I spent a few months reading posts and trying to establish my approach, before I committed to a particular approach. I decided on: A. A 3 projector curved screen as my primary view B. A 24 inch monitor (not touch yet) for Helios C. Cockpit made in 18mm mdf from plans I adapted from this forum D. An Aces II plywood flight seat E. TM Hotas and Cougars F. 2 x 22 inch widescreen monitors to be used as side panels (Helios) G. Saitek rudder pedals The main intention was to get a pit working asap with purpose built panels to follow in short to medium term. initial photos are attached and if any interest more will follow.

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
0414 Wee Neal replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Jav Good advice thanks, Helios is working well for me as well, although not been able to get EMC to work on 1.2.8, tried the registry amend as suggested in the EMC thread but without success, what's your secret? Neal
