yes, all m chips on both AMD and NVIDIA are lower spec desktop chips tweaked to meet the lower TDP. However 7970m was not a mobile rebadge. It is the latest gen new card/chip. (meant to compete with 680m which was also not a mobile rebadge, unlike 670m)
-
Was and is it seems.
-
I had the same experience going from 7970m to 680m (massive FPS gains, 40+% I think). Mobile, but, it should carry across. Edit: Just like some other users here i contacted AMD several times about the super low performance in DCS, no response. (game doesn't sell at the rates of BF3 etc)

They do a number of things, sometimes they will reuse a controller board or platters , low level format etc. I'm pretty sure that overall the failure rate of refurbished drives is higher than new, especially for cases where they just reformat, but it won't be by much... luck of the draw either way, new or refurbished.
-
What did you upgrade from? AMD?
-
Yes, they are holding up their warranty terms AFAIk, it states the product may be repaired or replaced with equivalent or better and possibly refurbished product. I think they keep their options open right in the warranty statement.
-
Yes but you probably have to consider the timeline; if your HDD was DOA or fairly close to it, I'd try to be anal about it and do it like 159th_Viper, ask for a new replacement. But if you have a product for half the warranty period or similar, you may be asking a bit much with a new replacement. because you did put wear and tear on the item yourself. And we all know electronic components age. I'd just say think of what's reasonable time wise. You might be right though.

Weapon Loadouts SU-25T Quick Missions?
bn880 replied to apollomaker's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
AFAIK only by editing the missions and resaving. Loadouts can otherwise only be changed at an allied airfield with engines off and spooled down. -
For DCS go with NVIDIA (it's much better bang for buck in DCS). Simple as that. The other game benchmarks don't apply to DCS performance.
-
Yep, that's good to know! (I used the term vehicle to encompass land/sea/air, didn't know the specifics you mentioned.)

Recommeded RAM amount for DCS World?
bn880 replied to The LT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
8GB or more. I've seen DCS using 6 GB+ on occasion, and 12GB when things go wrong. (MP) -

Took me ages to make as I had to learn all of DCS mission editing on this one, but here it is: Title: Bn880's Operation Sochi Starvation Author: Bn880 Type: SP, MP Coop Playable AC: 0-4x A10-C 0-2x Su-25T Download Attachment: http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=77302&stc=1&d=1361209698 Description: Prevent enemy fuel resupply from reaching Sochi and refueling their assets, thus protecting Gudauta for 3h until Allied destroyer arrives. Optional AI assets to complete various objectives. Uses realistic fuel truck/tanker ship fuel capacities to refuel OPFOR assets as they arrive (also realistic asset fuel requirements). :) Limited to 5 playable A10's and 2 playable Su-25t's, so take care of your aircraft. Known Issues: Only mission Host can call in optional assets via F10 menu. Full Briefing: Have fun, feel free to modify to your own liking, but please don't host modified version for downloads. Found out the bug; as soon as you have ANY vehicle HIDDEN in your mission, NONE of the OPFOR will be shown as part of FOW detected by BLUFOR other than yourself. Meaning only the vehicles you see personally will show in your FOW + all vehicles on your side.
-
Alright, thanks for the clarification. I pretty much realized this after testing some more and reading more threads. (will have to be a host only action in my mission then until ED fixes the feature in default build)
-
Trying to add items to the F10 menu to clients in MP, and this isn't working at all. Commands to add the Radio Items on some client being inside a trigger zone are executing local to the host. ... No way to get F10 menu on a client for some reason? Any ideas? I'm going to look at the new "script suite", don't want to install a mod.
-
Yeah, that encompasses the aerial systems, but there are also ground and sea unmanned vehicles. So basically Unmanned Systems (US) :D
-
Just wanted to say they're not "drones" but UAVs. :p UGVs etc. (it's becoming the same as helicopter vs chopper though with how often it's used in the media)
-
It's not really about just the number of objects though, what's more important usually is the complexity of the LOD's/models. But at the same time it's possible some of those objects are rendering in too high of a detail at a distance, and should have different LOD's to decrease face count as you get far away. 1700 boxes of 9 faces would let your FPS still max out at 170+ (in most engines)

Ability to change coalition mid-mission design. I think this is a HUGE problem if you change your mind or don't know this critical feature is missing. (happened to me)
-
I was making a large coop mission with lots of AI. When I was done I realized the latest version doesn't have FOW working anymore even though it's checked in the mission options. And other missions work (so client is configured correctly) I stripped away as much as I could, and FOW is still broken. You should see the red units in F10 mode near Sochi after a few seconds. Repro: load attached mission (Optional initiate Autostart with Rwin+Home to get radios on) Go to F10 map Watch Sochi Notice Tornadoes get shot down and you never see targets (even though they report and see them) BrokenFOW.miz

Yes good points, either way I think the fidelity to make the stuck/unstuck and broken/OK decisions is there; the values may just need tweaking in certain conditions to not always guarantee a fully loaded jet is always unmovable on dirt/grass if it has stopped.
-
Oh yes, silly me, it's the brake cooling pit at the end of the runway, you leave it to the Russians to fix the problem. :smartass:

Not seeing all the servers in the master server list.
bn880 replied to Jinef's topic in Multiplayer Issues
It works, I went to Internet server list, and then hosted by selecting LAN, Jinef was able to connect via IP:port Thanks a bunch ENO Now the only issue is that we have to share the IP with everyone for them to join as the server won't show in the Public list, but 1.2.3 hopefully.
