  1. Hi Zakatak, Honestly depending on your age if you are younger than 30 years of age I can honestly advise to seriously think about a military pilot career preferably for the Navy. There are many roles a pilot in the ADF can take Helo, Private Jet, Transport, Search and Rescue so on. I'm personally hoping my youngest son will take this path even if he serves a term of 8 years in the service. What you take with you is more than what you gain in civil commercial aviation and will be highly regarded rewarded and favorably looked upon once your looking for contract or long term employment even private work. As for personalities you got to be student minded willing to study, good memory not nervy type person quick logical thinker and prepared to follow command and be committed to routine scrutiny and meeting those demands. If that is you in a nut shell I say go for it whilst your young! I might add ATC roles are very stressful type positions and career wise not all that crash hot if you ask me. Best discuss this privately with an ADF career personnel officer at your nearest recruit center. There are many tools that you can learn, acquire and master to be better in the workplace. I also suggest that people read the thread from top to bottom carefully, because most just reply without carefully reading the Thread. *** Unfortunately, DCS concept from the original has been changed since WAGS post was made not to long ago in 2012. An undefined Concept and Direction though, respectfully in my opinion! Enough said! Again OT pointless debate conversation is about......... More modern aircraft PLEASE! Please provide solutions instead of boring arguments would be my advise. I like the OP and I decide to join, if I wanted WWI and WWII Air Craft as a Hobby then I would buy "RISE OF FLIGHT" and be done with Forum madness. Again all "SUBJECT TO OPINIONS"! I also tell you as a hardcore vpilot most in community want Modern Air Craft and Theaters of WAR with heaps of Campaign and better overall Air Combat Simulation.   3. Yeah exactly my thoughts, finishing what is important to the overall sim first its original concept. Then moving onto other projects and building on that with this and that what not. i.e..... Full working modern aircraft cockpits at least 60% working avionics then update it when info or testing on news systems are complete. Then adding PFM, Weapon platforms and testing for each air craft then MAPs Theaters etc a productive road path to completion and expansion. Oh boy, I could write 5000 words here alone but its been said in "Bugs & Problem" Forum TAB thread and other places in Forum. Once that huge list is addressed then add to it. Until that concept and issues are complete then work on adding a WWI, Commercial, Sport, Recreation Aviation Combat concepts but not before or during if first things first are incomplete causing a confusion and slowing down the development of the sim as an Air Combat Sim! Its about defining, completing and sticking to the original DCS Concept. I choose to put it like this:- "DCS was built around the A-10C in the Theater Georgian War conflict"! If people get the general idea there! So lets build from there onwards and complete the "DCS Modern Air War" concept, yeah! So I agree here wholeheartedly, its become messy but then we really dont know what developers are doing only what we see in Forum.   4. Yeah Random, I believe people understand and are not ignoring, heck we all understand and have read the Forum carefully. If there is a chance any chance that a DCS Air War concept with modern air craft in a "Tactical Study Type Sim in Single-Player Functionality" gets developed with either heaps of "Theaters of War or a Global Map like FSX". Ever gets done we would all be appreciative, extactic, celebrative simply jumping for joy this is what I know coming from the Falcon 4.0 community! :smilewink::thumbup: So much has been said in past here and other Forums. I just haven't in past until recently post much here at DCS, but some know me none the less. Its just sad that I have chosen this as a hobby only to find people feuding, arguing because of the state of the Air Combat Sim's in decline or no longer being developed to the same extent as past Air Combat Sims. Not many Air Combat Sims in development the same way Falcon 4.0 was thats hard for me to even grasp why because we have all this modern tech now days Ultra HD LCD Screens Quad CPU and GFX, home made cockpit for sale for $3000 a unit............... MMM nice yeah, I was planning on getting one or building an F-18 Home cockpit but where are the sims, maybe better dont bother, dead end as sims are dying! Sadly! Could have been allot of fun for my future family growing! Gaming companies are all about XBOX PS4 sadly UBISOFT alone makes BILLIONS in profits why not invest more in Flight Sims. Its hard to swallow and I'm deciding whether or not to stop pushing this further and find something else as a hobby other than fitness, which is more for my well being. I'm waiting for Update 2.0.0 EDGE and F-18 to decide but I see that things have changed. I dont see Air Combat Sims coming alive again with modern Air Craft + many Theaters and Campaigns for many reasons one being ........... "Work Load"! Just aint what it use to be and Falcon 4.0 will be regarded as the King of all sims, FACT! I seriously doubt if some of you guys even know what a HSI or VSI instrument is and how and when to use it, but want more air craft just flying about in multi-player, can you even dogfight or land the air craft with proper use of instrumentation do you guys properly ramp start the air craft properly inn the first place my guess over 50% NO! LoL What a waste of man hours on projects that many dont even know the fundamentals to air combat yet alone aviation. Pffttt kids! I agree with OP and even elaborated on it further as to why its needed and the importance to develop the sim to model a realistic sense of how modern jets can be used in a nice sim like DCS being a "Air Combat Simulation" which most gents will tell you we would love to have a more in-depth study sim with modern Air Craft!   10. See for me I would buy anything at DCS quality even prop, helo's, trains, ships you name it. But not before or until they complete and finish what most want out of a "Air Combat Sim" in its true concept being "Air War" from a Cadet to full commissioned Pilot simulation. Which I have exhaustively explained and asked in Forum. To have a MISH-MASH of everything is NOT a "Air Combat Sim" but a................... "Air Craft Collectors SIM"! Anyone that knows about the history of Falcon 4.0 or Combat sims in general will understand and nor even argue the point! Ahh dont do it men, just dont! I really cant stand "Multi-Player Junkie Sims" anymore because its opened a door for "Single-Player A.i" to be forgotten or undeveloped or not taken to its full potential in a Air Combat Simulation! :mad: I have a huge list of things that a Developer could work on.......   11. DCS Tactical Battlefiled Air Support Combat Simualtions - WHAT IS THE DCS CONCEPT? Hi folks, Well just to join the chat here, I have read quite a few threads lately many want various air craft from various era's with this and that repeated several times. Now that brings up an interesting point and question .......... - "What is the Concept of the DCS Sim"? I mean for WWI type sims I know what "RISE OF FLIGHT" Sim is all about if thats what i want. Although with DCS its currently a "MISH-MASH" with no clear direction or concept being a "Air Combat Simulator" and its the only great one around for modern type fighters that is! So what is this sim all about? I love the quality of the modules and sim..........but there is some serious lack in its concept vision and design like the old Air Combat Sim's of the 90's. i.e...... My vision is for a Air Combat Sim Study Sim incorporates a few things from a Student Cadet Pilot in training through Advanced A.i Development not game tutoring but real qualifications and assessment on Flight Basics, injstrument Rating so forth then ranked and qualified as a Commissioned Combat Pilot for Live Training Ranges and Theaters of War in Missions and Campaigns. Again this is why Falcon 4.0 was regarded as the King of Sims because it had most of that. Its all explained here with links and what not, for those that are interested. A "MISH-MASH" approach seems like theres nothing but a mindless Multi-Player Junkie Flight sim with no concept or thought to what is "Air Combat" in principle and practice. I really hope this changes, its really sad to see a nice "Air Combat Sim" fall apart due to poor planning, development and concept vision. I want an Air Combat Simulator that simulates what real Air Defense Forces really are like in principle and practice more Theaters of War, Live Training Ranges, a Global MAP, New GUI, better weapons modeling and a Cadet Training Instructor program built in for my SQDRN recruits, with various Campaigns in modern Air Craft with full click-able, 6DOF at least 60% working avionics in many modern Air craft cockpits. Since I'm willing to spend big money for these individual modules........... The sim could really offer more in many areas that need developing and finishing first, fact! Before other Air Craft model era's are introduced but who cares Air Combat sims are dying and people dont know what the heck they really want or are asking for its just a MISH-MASH now, sadly! Although if DCS dont get the whole modern Air Combat Sim concept right many people will just leave so will I its not that I want another Falcon 4.0 but the right concept of what is Air Combat + Air Defense in the realistic sense in principle form and concept........yes that means Theaters of War so on! Everything ADF in one sim + then add WWI + Commercial + Sport + Recreation Air Crat flying components but lets finish the primary concept of Air Combat Simualtion that ED-DCS started with the A-10! I mean I am really reaching out here and I am struggling to understand what Game Flight Simulator developers are really doing, gosh just look around and look at the past in this category of PC gaming Flight simulation!   13. Hi GeordiePigeonOwner, What did you have in mind regarding the UI. I did not respond earlier and waited to see what response you would get. So I see your thread still void of any input and I decided to share my thoughts and opinions. Well first yeah I agree that maybe a better UI in future would be sweet. I agree on that but so much needs to happen or properly planned like how will EDGE work with new MAPs will they introduce a GLOBAL MAP and then 3rd Party develops terrain using an SDK. then the UI would need modifying. So many questions and very little answers maybe a New UI is already in the pipeline, maybe nothing at all. DCS Tactical Battlefiled Air Support Combat Simualtions Hello all, Just starting a further chat on the above, would like some input in this thread by ED-DCS Developers if at all possible as to the Road Map or Vision for the DCS Series Simulator. What I'm looking for in a "Air Combat Sim" as an interested member and hobby enthusiast in military simulation is for an in-depth "TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT COMBAT STUDY SIM" in Single Player Advanced A.i and extended to Mult-Players SQDRN implementation. This thread is about building and developing this sim as it should be ................. Not just a "Military Air Craft Collectors Sim"! I just dont understand the mish-mash approach currently as you see this nice sim developing, there needs to be direction sure you can have commercial aviation or WW1 but lets finish the Air Combat side first, yeah! Not a mish-mash with no concept, just mindless multi-player junkie sim approach, but a more in-depth Air Combat Study Sim! DCS Weapons and Systems Improvements Hi I support that totally! :thumbup: I gather you guys being testers and all that I would imagine that your testing and sending feed back to developers right for better missile performance and modelling and updates after careful consideration, is that how it internally works. Or are there other Testers for DCS weapons modeling so on? Watch @ 0.28................. The best I could find as examples. Aspect Angles and Turn Speeds are tricky here tail end hits are not necessarily kills but hits through the center frame / body mass completely destroys the air craft and if you replay the first video a few times you do see a tendency of guidance loss or maybe me dreaming here. Not all hits are kills, deadly is not necessarily accurate modeling again many variables here that are not mentioned, better record ACMI's to analyze. I read else where a few weeks ago that more refinement and testing on weapons will come after EDGE Update 2.0.0 so if bugs are being found hopefully improvements will come later.   20. DCS Cadet Instructor Pilot Module Hi gents, What I'm trying to explain in a sense because in a Forum what people read or write means different things to others. Is more of the actual real life Training Pipeline experience in learning as a pilot in the USAF Cadet in Flight Training Program. Learning basic flight principles that will help you later as a VCombat Pilot. To transition straight onto a fighter Air Craft without knowing basic instruments is just like playing HAWX if you can appreciate what I'm say. So hopping into a prop plane first mastering that then a trainer jet learning basic combat techniques then thats the correct learning path. Also A.i can be taught maths, physics and geometry so on that will make for a good A.i Instructor Pilot........... its one of the reasons I created this thread .......... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=126749 It was to probe more discussion in the A.i department acknowledging that this is a video game simulator category. In a game like DCS once again with smart programming using algorithms for advanced A.i. So much can be added in the A.i Single Player. I also privately discussed this with a Mod ED Tester first he mentioned yes there is more planned for this area much later not now he also mentioned he has many things he wishes in this area as well, anyway besides the point. Yes, You also can add A.i to move from routines function and throw in some irregularities like ditching the air craft or perform an instant manuever to get you to think and apply tactics. Again its just a training tool of course the next step in training and development would be Multi-player. Now on this point.......... In my honest opinion that suxs why even bother with a SFM. I have read the FM Terms of use thread but not really worth all the work and resources to have types of FM behavior. In my view all Air Craft should have a PFM with tools like http://jsbsim.sourceforge.net/ ......... watch..... I just dont see the need for various types of flight models when you can develop each specific air craft with the right behavior or feel for the individual air craft. Be it a light fighter or bomber or even prop and simulate the characteristics like weight and thrust ratio based on air frame dynamic drag coe........ so on. Honestly from an A.i Program point of view and for new people coming into flight sims, i.e friends family it would be far better to have an "A.i Cadet Instructor Pilot" as described in this thread - http://freefalcon.org/topic/8449490/1/ For many reasons in fact some SQDRNS have made mods to do this online for rear cockpit IP-RIO-WSO pilots stuff. I also support an in-depth study manual that will provide practical and theory study from Cadet to full commissioned Vpilot training. Topics ranging from Ramp Starts, Taxing, Basic Flight, Air Craft Handling, Safety Procedures, ATC, WAR Theory, BVR, WVR, ACM and BFM/Dogfighting or A-A & A-G Weapons, Avionics, Carrier Ops, Tactics and War Strategies you name it.   24. Hi, Yes, I strongly believe an "A.i Cadet Instructor Pilot Program" should be taken seriously. I was thinking if its even worth me opening up a Thread and posting the proposal here for DCS Devs the one I posted over at FFOSP. But I dont know if people are interested or even bothered. People just get into weapons and blow stuff up but dont know a darn thing about aviation or instrument rating. FSX has one its not to bad. yeah DCS titles have also but very generic basic overview of a instructor tutorial coach program. Whats needed is an in-depth Instructor taking you through all the elements and fundamentals of an air craft and flight training. I stress Not an arcade type feature but a serious "A.i Instructor Pilot" in Single Player this would make better pilots passing A.i qualification and rating programs and make it easier for SQDRN taking you through assessments until your ranked as a Air Combat Commissioned Pilot. I hook up with gents every now and then over LANS and invite people I get bogged down with questions opening up manuals and pdf's just not practical and a bummer when you want time to fly. My adaption, I guess as option I can still run Janes USAF, Allied Force Falcon 4.0 and FreeFalcon in Dual Boot Windows XP Mode! :smilewink: :thumbup: Currently installed under Windows 7 working fine! Truth be said though at the moment DCS sim is just an "Air Craft Collectors Survey Sim"............... certainly not a "Study Air Combat Sim" in the very essence! Thats whats left from the decaying flight sims around, just "Multi-Player Junkie Sims", it gets boring after awhile. I want more Advanced A.i Tactical Air Combat Single-Player Functionality where I can use the sim for training purposes, developing concepts, mastering techniques etc with the option to go Multi-Player. I mean again I reinforce the importance Theaters of War in campaigns or joint NATO operations anything that simulate real Air Battlefield Mission and objectives But A.i Single Player functionality has been neglected and Air Combat Sim developers dont see the importance, especially for future development and growth. When it could be heaps of fun for all types of users, not just a Multi-Player Junkies sim whereby many dont even know what a Tactical CAS Sortie Mission is or how to fly ILS or even understand what a VSI Instrument is and how to use it. FORUM QUOTE- I love sims that tell a story, like Wings of Glory and Strike Commander, where a world exists beyond the confines of the cockpit. Missions need more context and purpose than a wall of text presented just before the mission starts. They need a home base that oozes atmosphere, filled with characters and stories that immerse you in the world. You should personally know your wingmen and feel bad when they die. Modern sims lack the human touch, they are all avionics, physics, faceless AI and robotic missions with no heart. Well take care enjoy what tickles your fancy I guess! Cheers, :beer:
