1. PC Gaming Systems Hi all, A PC gamer normally will upgrade his PC between 1-5 years and most systems can be stretched out 7 years or so. I always skip a MS Windows version and upgrade a GFX Card for $250.00 instead and maybe add memory if I have available slots to stretch out my system. I also run a small home network as kids have PC as well sharing printers and what not. Now you dont really have to keep up with the Jones as per say, you may build around a current selection of Flight Sims that interest you and keep your build light only for Flight Simming based on the recommended systems requirements. Some gents just have an old box running MS Windows XP just for Falcon 4.0 sims. So its more of what you want out of it as a hobby, but being a PC Gamer is not a cheap hobby to be fair, you still have joysticks, headgear, cameras etc Some suggestions though for new Gaming PC System.............. Link:- http://www.alienware.com.au/ Link:- http://www.originpc.com.au/ Link:- http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ If gents allow $1,500min or $4,500 max budget every few years you will have good system! You dont have to spend a fortune just good planning! Trust me! ________________________________________________ Now to further add info to thread here are some info and options. Worth Watching:- *** Intel's Youtube Channel:- http://www.youtube.com/user/channelintel?feature=watch I am Sold to the Performance and Quality of Intel Motherboards and Processors. The Best in the Market in my opinion its what I buy for every build I make! Also comes with a 3 Year Warranty. Well I hop all this helps and Ii'm sure ED-DCS will update their "Recommended PC Specifications" after Update 2.0.0 with new GFX Engine EDGE Ver 4 so keep an eye out on those details on Forum or Front page! I also believe its time to make PC Hardware and Software cheaper through the years pricing has increased as well as demand for Home PCs almost in every room there is at least a Tablet in household so, time for pricing to go down whilst maintaining good quality. Cheers, :beer:
2. Classic........... LoL My first PC Looked like this................ Owning a Compaq 386 then a 486 then Pentium II so forth playing games like Lemmings, 1941, Rygar, Dungeons and Dragons, then moving over to sims Janes USAF/ F-18 Falcon you name it! :D Now I'm into gaming again I'm tweaking for better GFX and Performance and research for a better PC in a year or so. WoW yeah how far things have gone. Cheers, :beer:
3. DCS EDGE + MAP SDK Supporter Hi M8, Well I read they are close! Although its all code related they are now in the process of updating the main code with all the new GFX engine and treats. It could mean longer due to issues found and rectified beta testing and what not that still needs to be done. I mean can you imagine it can be allot of fun being a game developer but to introduce new code and rebuild an entire GFX engine and database and getting it to work like a swiss watch without problem (BUGS + Code Errors) is like producing water from a white cloud...... LoL So having read they are close to release does not mean they might not run into some issue that slows them down again maybe less than 12 months just a shot in the dark is my guess. But if what I have read so far is accurate then EDGE and NTR should really liven things up especially the DCS F-18E with Carrier Ops .....Yippy! :smilewink: :thumbup: Look it here wooweee.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-3OHn8aXHQ :thumbup: The celebrations will soon begin...sssshhhh! Cheers, :beer:
4. Yes my point! :smilewink: :thumbup: Listen after @ 1.04...................... Now just Imagine the F-117 was top secret running tactical missions now what do you think F-35s are doing. Ssssshhh We might never know, and personally we never should. I love the JSF Manufacturing Plant its state of the art and very efficient......... a few more... I like it! :thumbup: Cheers, :beer:
5. :thumbup::smilewink:
6. Lockheed Martin F-35 Development Hey all, I have always supported the F-22 Raptor and the JSF F-35's as they improve they get better, it goes to say that has been true for all fighters in its development life cycle. For RAAF F-35 news follow this link............. http://www.f35evolution.com.au/ :thumbup: :alien: This is as close to the real thing I will get......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1KMeOpoVNI :D Cheers, :beer:
7. QUESTION:- What is the "Concept and Direction" of DCS"? Hi WAGS, and all, I read the first post and was hoping to know more, knowing that there are not many Air Combat Simulators in development anymore and DCS being the finest with some Hi-fidelity modules on offer, where in past I enjoyed "Study Sims" like Janes USAF, Microprose Falcon 4.0 and F-22 TAW, FreeFalcon and FSX -GOLD + Acceleration so on. I am saddened by the lack or decay of Air Combat Sims and development so. I would like to respectfully ask ED-DCS Developers and Management about the DCS sim future direction. In reading countless threads in Forum I see many still want what past sims offered in content, game and realism, my hope is to probe your minds and know more of what ED-DCS development direction is? *** QUESTION:- What is the "Concept and Direction" of the DCS Sim moving forward in development? I understand the original concept was.............. We all know that DCS stands for "Digital Combat Simulations" and believe many that love the Air Combat Sims of the 90's would love to see more in the DCS brand being the last in-development in this category. The old Combats Sims like Atari's F-22 T.A.W, Microprose Falcon 4.0, Janes USAF so on were more in-depth "Study Sims" and had a good concept from Cadet training to full combat pilot to Theaters of WAR with Campaigns and Missions and vast terrain many Air Craft forming the air battler war scenario in the operations. So a better defined Road MAP of the "Direction and Concept" is needed in the Forum to explain to the wider audience exactly what is in development by ED-DCS Co. If DCS is now a "Military Air Craft Collectors Simulator" for mult-player then it should be stated and defined as that in your Forum and promotional advertisements. What I'm looking for in DCS is a "TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT SORTIE COMBAT STUDY SIM" in Single Player, embracing all that is ADF and modern air war, with a wide scope of Air Craft to be used in its purpose and design. In the joint mission phase and military operations from a tactical/ strategic simulator game perspective, for home entertainment and sim hobbyist. The sim should develop you from a Cadet-ship in training to a Full Commissioned Combat Pilot. Where a Cadet is taught basic instruments and rated and basics of flight so on based on USAF Cadet Training Syllabus like F4 implemented. Then the Combat Pilot is placed into Theaters of WAR in various missions and campaigns. As well having a Global MAP with various Live Fire Training Ranges also adding Carrier Ops so on. Cadet to Full Commissioned Pilot Training Pipeline Links:- http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r543/picturebucket7/FFOSP/How-to-become-a-fighter-pilot-Infographic_zps58102d5d.jpeg http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r543/picturebucket7/FFOSP/Marine_Corps_Aviation_Pipeline_zps76578ba5.jpg http://www.baseops.net/militarypilot/ As an awesome example of past sims Janes USAF had much of what I describe.............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrmwnxsb10I They captured the entire scope of a cadet in training to a full commissioned fighter pilot in realistic air combat scenarios for gamers to get really immersed into the sim, so why cant ED-DCS do this? Here is another sweet trip down memory lane............ Again to point out its about the "Air WAR" and there needs to be more development in this area. DCS should introduce a Global MAP with Historical and Theoretical Theaters of War with many Campaigns and Missions to play a part of the Air War Concept acknowledging that DCS is a Combat sim. So I believe the first post needs some redo or consideration to the above from a readers perspective. Well all the best for ED-DCS Sim it does have sweet modules. :thumbup: Hahahahaaa, I was giggling at the thought of strafing Trains........ LoL So I remembered this video.................. Lots of fun with the P-51D and Sabre Cheers, :beer:
8. Hi gents I agree, i always skip one version stretching my system with updates and upgrades tweaking this and that, its working like a charm atm. Think about it Windows 8 uses the same platform base as Windows 7 just fancy features NO new Direct X technologies or smarter CPU code for better performance. Its just spruced up for Tablet type use no hype no super dopers. Waste of money imho. I'm running OEM Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit which I got online 18 months ago for $180.00AUD. Works like a treat with current system with 8Gig memory. Get a cheap OEM Window 7 64bit version or best wait for next version after the dust settles and price goes down is my advice. I posted this in another post earlier felt best to post the same here. Now keep in mind DCS EDGE Ver 4 GFX engine will utilize and DX11 64Bit technologies and 32Bit no longer supported even in other games its now being phased out. All the best with your system and many happy huntings. Cheers, :beer:
9. Hi bud, Yeah, well before they release EDGE Ver 4 GFX engine and NTR it would be great to incorporate that in a similar system like that of FSX uses as per this post........ http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2147095&postcount=14 I'm still hoping that DCS will begin work on Theaters of War with Historical and Theoretical Campaigns similar to the FSX / Falcon 4.0 menu system and concept. Like you click the nation, then click on War era the click on the Campaign mission then select an air base so on............... More of the Briefing phase as you select the best route and flight plan so forth. Just so its more military in realism and experience rather than game type setup up. However the concept of new GFX engine and MAPs works, it will definitely need to consider the many wishes and needs from the community wanting to fly from various parts of the world. Also the concept of War Theaters and Campaigns for DCS as a Air Combat sim, and the various training ranges not forgetting military zones. As you say we will have to wait and see it sure is exciting and positive, cant wait lots of fun ahead folks. Cheers, :beer:
10. W7 64Bit DX11 for DCS - EDGE High GFX Auh, yes the "GAMING UPGRADING DANCE"..................... why people fight it beats me.............. its always been like this for Gamers the constant technology move is hard to keep up with. A good Intel i7 Quad Core Processor running Windows 7 with a good GFX Card will get you through EDGE DX11 DX10 Recommended PC Specs for the next 5 years or so as i have been reading Forum. If people shop around long enough and haggle you can get good prices online. DX11 is the platform for many game titles now on a 64bit system with memory exceeding 6Gigs so no point in wasted debate your going to need more memory faster this and that. I think it will be worth it though if you want GFX at MAX settings but 32bit systems and software is being phased out. Vista is garbage. I always skip one version of Windows this also gives me more time between my upgrades. I always wait for reviews and how well each version of windows performs and Vista had heaps of issues. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with 8 Gig memory cost me $180.00AUD 18 months ago. Its Stable and I'm really happy with performance. My advice go with W7 64Bit asap, I'm already planning and researching my next PC Case waiting for more news. Cheers, :beer:
11. Hi well only "Altitude" will help here depending on circumstances climb higher then drop nose on bandit. Altitude gives you speed over the bandit...... a similar maneuver..... http://youtu.be/H8QKa8nYBQw Also for the Sabre watch for performance corner speeds.... handing over speed for maximum turn radius ......Use "Google" for more info there's heaps of good material. Example................. http://books.google.com.au/books?id=Fdeo9ZVg6dAC&pg=SA6-PA12&lpg=SA6-PA12&dq=sabre+performance+turn+speed&source=bl&ots=abdFeX6zB5&sig=C0n0oKE-SGeJetQq1-1u0h9FPN0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=rFXsU6qUNojqoASHgIKwDw&ved=0CEUQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=sabre%20performance%20turn%20speed&f=false Understanding the hand of God effect, bell maneuver, air brakes so much can be discussed and learnt your the student so to speak and the material is for you to study these days its all found online, PM me is you want more info. Its how much you put into it that will broaden your knowledge in these areas. I'm sure this will start some chatter in Thread :smilewink: Cheers, :beer:
12. I'm going to miss his style of humor. ( "Forget U" + "I was also wondering whats coming from that way" ) LoL Good find thxs! :thumbup:
13. DCS World Global MAP System Hi all, Why not a World Global Map GUI and Menu System then 3rd Parties can begin "DCS Theater Campaign MAP Development"! :smilewink: :thumbup: Like for example in MS - FSX.................. That would be better because we all want different MAPs geo locations to fly in and participate in either historical or theoretical wars or train in like Nevada Live Fire Training Range so on! :smilewink: :thumbup: Well thats my view! Cheers, :beer:
14. Yeah i heard this morning Sad that he saw no hope with his battles RIP one of my favorite actors movies like Goodwill Hunting, Dead Poet Society, Good morning Vietnam and Patch Adams. Not to long ago another actor I like passed away Philip Seymour Hoffman For the same reasons, whats going on there should be more help and support offered to them. Robin McLaurin Williams - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Williams Philip Seymour Hoffman - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Seymour_Hoffman Legends of Movies to be remembered! Respect love and support to the families!
15. A.i Real Life Tactics Simulation Hi Gideon, Awesome good find, I tried to probe more discussion in the DCS A.i Development Department for the very same reason in this link........ http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2113198&postcount=1 I was told in private PM it has been discussed that A.i needs more work but there are other priorities hence EDGE so forth. But its also what I like in combat sims the "STUDY" part of it. To get the A.i to simulate real life tactics and strategies, in air combat, and again good find gee SimHQ has lots of valuable info should all be posted in this Forum. There is heaps of stuff that could get implemented into Advanced A.i coding to make a Air Combat Sim awesome in experience, I have a list of things I created a while back maybe I will post it even if its just info. For example a sortie BARCAP or CAS Mission with a C-130J flying in a orbit/circular perimeter pattern around a Hotzone like this http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r543/picturebucket7/Cockpits/weapons_ac130_gunship_zpsbeed5d16.gif stopping or suppressing ground forces advancing and/or defending assets. As the A-10's flyby dive bombing taking out targets or assets to weaken opposing forces. Its all the A.i Tactical and Strategic employment of Air War and utilizing Air Craft for intended purpose and design thats missing in these sims. Hence the "STUDY" part of it as you plan and organize a mission, let your minds run with various uses as to how you can implement this, Awesome Yeah. Oh well, I wish for more Advanced A.i and Theaters with many aircraft. Great minds think alike! :thumbup: you have my support! Although its lots of code work and resources needed and we also need more air craft for better A.i Real Tactics Simulation. So maybe in the future. Cheers :beer:
16. Hey all, Well I voted for the SU-27 Flanker. But I also like the SU-33 Flanker-D for Carrier Ops SU-33 SU-27 But they must be fully click-able cockpits and at least 60% full working avionics. For the SU-33 it must be Carrier Operational. I love these videos................................ DCS ............... God Speed!:thumbup: Cheers, :beer:
17. LoL :megalol: Your to late on the mark i started 2009 when i joined the Forum Flight Sim World , now i have my own winery :megalol: Sorry for O/T just couldn't resist :doh: Now please continue as you may......................................
18. DCS F-16 FM-AFM Development - Design and Video Hi SDscorch, Yeah, well again going by some Threads in DCS Forum by Wags and Mods it sounds more like a complete overhaul or new DCS is on the way in version 2.0.0, with lots of treats and inclusions! :smilewink::thumbup: I just put 1 and 2 together and hope for the best.Yeah! Well, I have read enough debate, argument and negative chat in Air Combat Forums to make you sick, not forgetting "Wasted Time"! :cry: Honestly I'm just sick of all that, just want to encourage better sims and developers to plug-in. I would love to simply encourage better Air Combat Sims and I think DCS being a Business can offer more in short term and long term perspective. *** Well again my reason for this Thread as per first post here......... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2138767&postcount=1 was to ask DCS Developers and discuss in particular the F-16C Block 50/52 but not limited to this Air Craft alone, in regards for better FM and AFM Design / Development regarding this Thread........ http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 I also again point out I linked this thread................... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2137203&postcount=6595 I would like to see some discussion if possible From DCS Devs to improve the sim in this area. Also to encourage development to simulate more realistic environments and behavior of what Air Combat is really like on a daily basis. I think the Nevada Training Map will bring much of what I'm looking for in this Sim. :smilewink: :thumbup: Well take care all. Cheers, :beer:
19. DCS F-16C Block 50/52 with EDGE Coming! Hi gents lets not derail this thread please. Now lets bring some perspective here ED-DCS has these western fighters inventory........... E.g. A-10C on sale F-18E in development F-15C on sale So many other 3rd Party Air Craft on the way it might be worth pointing out that its already stated that the EDGE Nevada Training Range is the test bed for other western fighters and technology as per this link....... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122230 A F-16C Block 50/52 is certainly possible after EDGE is complete and most likely already in the works, surprises will come after update 2.0 I gather! The F-16C is also mentioned in this thread as a "WORK-IN-PROGRESS" ..................... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1931682&postcount=3 DCS as a Air Combat Sim at this point in time seems to have good development plans and with a nice training range on the way surely good treats are coming. Can you imagine an Aggressor squadron with a D.A.C.T training environment or NATO WAR exercises, Nice! Don't be negative fussing over it, just encourage the Developers and follow the Links in Forum by "Mods and Management Only" and in reply posts. This is what I have been doing and it sounds exciting.:smilewink: :thumbup: Please Note:- My initial question to ED-DCS Developers in first post was about inviting a quick short discussion on the study and development in the "Flight Model and Air Frame Accuracy"! So some of those irregularities or bugs in code can be smoothed out for better Flight Model behavior and Flight Characteristics that would make for better FM-AFM Design and more realistic if you read my above posts. Anyway my advice would be start saving some $$$$ COIN $$$ for PC upgrades and new flight gear now what ever you can put in a glass container when time comes hopefully you will have more than enough for some new hardware! Take care all! Cheers, :beer:
20. Supporter for a DCS F-16C Block 50/52 Viper Hi SkateZilla, Thanks for the good news and once EDGE GFX Engine is done and the craze settles hopefully the DCS F-16C Block 50/52 Fighting Falcon aka the Viper will get all the attention it deserves as a DCS title and improves from there on. The fact that the Lockheed Martin F-16 is part of a global partner program initiative makes this a special fighter. Surely it deserves to be ranked amongst so many other great fighters like the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet as per this link:- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90154 again part of a global partner program and maybe lets not forget the F-14 Tomcat down the track. These fighters amongst some Russian and Euro-fighters will balance and fit nicely with future battle-space scenarios using new EDGE GFX and Terrains for DCS. Lots of fun ahead of the DCS community. :smilewink: Cheers,
21. EDGE + HDR + Increase far dot size and add a metal glare Hi all, I definitely voted option (3) Increase dot size. It's perfect the way it is. Increase far dot size and add a metal glare. With new EDGE GFX Engine Version 4 adding tools like HDR - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-dynamic-range_rendering Sun Lighting Effects that GLARE factor should stand out and really make for spotting scaling a treat. I was looking at the early screen shots in this link http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5723&page=2 from the new visuals on the EDGE development. Lots of work being done. Cheers, :drunk:
22. Nice find, thanks! :smilewink::thumbup:
23. Hello gents, Well even though I would love to have a DCS Vietnam War Theater Campaign scenario we need historical air craft beginning with a nice F-4G Phantom II being the more advanced variant for multi-purpose Theaters ie. 1980's Iraq War..... etc...... So with good planning DCS can have really good realistic Theater War and Campaigns on $$$$ SALE $$$$$. In response to first post I will also say its not to far fetched if 3rd Party Game Developers join the ranks and crack onto development of these projects being posted in Forum. There are many 3rd Party Game Developer avenues to pull from if ED-DCS wishes like ................ * https://www.elance.com/q/how-it-works * https://www.odesk.com/ - Side Note:- wouldn't it be better to have a Global World MAP like in FSX ............... Well its been many years in want, so it really is time to make headway on this stuff. Cheers, :drunk:
24. Hi to be honest theres wisdom in that! I dont know if i should hate or love Forums its a conundrum :doh:
25. Hi gents, Just to politely discuss as I ran into this video below whilst observing DCS FM Development online research. * DCS F-16 Development 2012 Video............ I also was reading this page.............. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 I have seen videos where some Flight Models need more development or fine tuning. ie. stability performance pitch, yaw, roll axis smoothness fixing bugs in code etc Stall - Post Stall characteristics so forth....... I posted much info in this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2137203&postcount=6595 Questions:- How possible is it for DCS Developers to really have a realistic deliverable Flight Model for a F-16C Block 50/52 that holds true to its flight characteristics or FCLS computed modeling. To correct this type of Air Craft behavior in DCS FM-AFM................... Also how possible to start to work on avionics and weapon systems like TGP and HTS pods, Radar, Jammers, Data Cartridge, JHMCS, true F-16 Thrust to Weight ratio ...... so forth! Just brief explanation and some insight to DCS FM + AFM design and if there will be further improvement and development in this area of programing. I am excited to have found that video and hope for the best for a DCS F-16C Block 50/52 fighter along with the F-18E Super Hornet. :thumbup: P.S "-Sorry to Mods if posted in wrong area but unsure as threads get moved so thought best to create new thread for maintaining a sense of "WISH LIST" for better "Air Craft Flight Model Accuracy and Discussion"! Please, Please with cherries on top and chocalate topping. I mean c'mon so many threads wanting a USAF F-16C BLOCK 50/52 there is also this Thread.......... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160730 :thumbup: Thats be honest the old Falcon 4.0 troll fest has reached its limits so we need something similar more modern and with new treats! Link:- http://www.viaf.it/coolhand/F4AFManual.pdf :book::joystick::pilotfly::smartass: ................ :thumbup: We all know that the best sim ever created is this - http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?53 Whats available now are mutations of old Dinosaur DNA mixed with cow and horse waste and sold / handed out as hamburgers at your local Fish n Chips shop! Brrrttt! Just hack sims that are not true air combat simulations, so sad but true! :cry::(:cry::doh: Cheers :drunk:
