Could there be a mission editor option to set the map in war-time vs peace-time conditions (blackout vs night illumination)?

When a pilot says “o’clock.
Charly_Owl replied to Hell0's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
It's a way to reference the direction of a contact/target in relationship to you (or anyone else). The "o'clock" is based on the position of needles on a watch indicating the time, but it is used to reference a direction as a quick way to know where to look. 12 o'clock would be in front, 3 o'clock to the right, 6 o'clock behind, and 9 o'clock to the left. "My 12 o'clock" means "look to the direction straight in front of ME", while "your 3 o'clock" would mean "look to the right in relationship to YOU". -
I did a sneaky update for the Hornet guide (6/02/2023 revision), finally including the mysterious ACLS Case III Recovery. It's a fairly complex procedure, but I tried to simplify it as much as possible compared to the ICLS tutorial. Let's learn how to do a "hands off" landing and how to make a ham sandwich while doing so. Oh, and as a side note, I also realized that some of the advice I was giving in my air-to-air refueling tutorials for the Harrier, JF-17, Hornet, F-14B and Mirage 2000 was incorrect (or, more accurately, it made the player's life more miserable than it needed to be). Hopefully, the notes in the revised documents should be more helpful.

Is it normal that the RWR sounds seem like placeholders taken from the A-10? I cannot un-hear this.

Hi folks! The F-86F Sabre guide got a brand new remaster. It was one of these "legacy" guides that was gathering a lot of dust and that wasn't up to snuff with the current library. Therefore, I standardized the formatting, cleaned up a few sections and significantly expanded some sections like the one for the Powerplant and Fuel Systems. I added an intro, added a proper profile for control bindings, expanded the cockpit description, added a few pretty pictures, added better explanations for the A-4 gunsight and most important of all... I feel better having done this. The page count went from 91 to 150+ pages. *** The MiG-15bis guide also had a similar treatment I also added in bonus a bunch of missing items such as the engine air start procedure, fire extinguisher system... I'll spare you the details, you can look it up and see for yourself. I do hope that one day, we get a bigger era-appropriate playground to fly these birds in. Korean War theater when? Oh, and... the page count went from 91 to 140+ pages. *** But wait... there's more! Here are a few other guides that got updated during the holidays. AH-64D Apache: First revision pass to fix typos, errors and inaccuracies. Spitfire Mk IX: Added beer kegs (because... beer?) I-16 Ishak: Updated cockpit F-5E3 Tiger II: Added some missing bombing profiles. JF-17 Thunder: Added configuration panel (new ground crew interface). AV-8B Harrier: Added new logic for QA (Quick Access) Menu when changing between steerpoint types Mirage 2000C: Added information on radar emission channels and fixed some inaccuracies F/A-18C Hornet: Added ADM-141A TALDs (Tactical Air Launched Decoys), removed Snowplow mode from ATFLIR pod, fixed a few errors DH.98 Mosquito: Added low level bombing and delayed fuzes.

I can't wait to get my hands on the Lavka, she sounds like an awesome warbird!

A page number would be helpful. Are you talking about p 223?

Undecided. I have a bunch of updates to do before either of those (F-16, Mosquito, Hind, etc.).

My pleasure!

Chuck's Guide to the AH-64D is finally available! *** Link: https://chucksguides.com/aircraft/dcs/ah-64d/ *** I am a few months behind schedule and I apologize to all of you for that. This project was a huge undertaking, and I still have trouble wrapping my head around the fact that I started working on it back in March of this year... 9 months ago. As they say in the business, I was stuck in scope creep hell for a while. The Apache is one of the most complex modules in DCS, but I do not think it is prohibitively difficult to learn. The page count (770) might seem daunting at first, but keep in mind that the operation of the AH-64 is overall not that complicated once you understand the basics. It's a machine of war with modern capabilities that can do many, many things in all sorts of environments. As some of you may know, the Mudspike website is shutting down. With the help of a kind and generous soul, I have found a new home at https://chucksguides.com/, which is where you will find the latest versions of my guides. The next few weeks will be a kind of "test run" to work out the kinks and see what works (or not) with the website. Expect some changes/improvements down the line, but I believe what we have now is functional enough to be useful to the community. Happy reading and Merry Christmas to all of you! Chuck

Whether that is intended behavior or not is exactly what I'm asking. The logic of many systems in many DCS modules has changed more times than I can count. It would seem strange to me that Snowplow mode is just removed from the ATFLIR while it was used in the LITENING... without having this change documented anywhere in the Eagle Dynamics manual.

Source? If it is slaved to the VVI, it should be stated somewhere in the developer's documentation.
