  1. FFB2 mated with an F-22 Pro stick. Second vanilla FFB2 for WWII/civ sims.
  2. Is 256 enough? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117011
  3. I've already built a nice setup, so I don't really deserve it. As I upgraded with newer gear though I would donate to the more needy. This would be no different as there is a young air cadet who has a passion for flight sims and a need for better gear.
  4. Sorry about hijacking this thread. I'm wondering if it might be possible to put the analogue inputs to better use with voltage dividers. I'm thinking it might be way to replace multi position switches and avoid using up digital inputs. I can follow all the user documentation, but the developer stuff is over my head.
  5. I'm wondering if this could be used on a printout, rather than a monitor. Of course you wouldn't get the visual feedback of seeing a switch change position.
  6. Hey Craig, Here is my DIY pit. It has a USB hub and power bar, so when I set it up, it only requires a USB port on my PC, a power outlet and a video signal. The stick pedestal is removable and the pedals are hinged to fold up beneath the monitor for storage. I've cleaned up the wiring and added helios since the pic was taken. I was lucky enough to have some steel chassis monitors to make part of the structure, but the same thing could be accomplished with wood and a mounting bracket.
  7. I have a 640x240 touch screen that I'd like to use as a UFC. The problem is, when I create the custom resolution with the nVidia software and apply it, the top half of the screen is blank. By default, Windows detects the screen as 640x480. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  8. I think DCS Bios requires a different sketch for each aircraft. So, at the very least you will have to write the arduino each time you change planes. According to the GitHub page, there are three supported aircraft at this time. The A-10C, Huey and Mig 21. I personally love DCS Bios, but it may not be what you a looking for.
  9. I got a copy of 1.80 beta a couple of years ago. As far as I know the only difference is the ability to assign functions to controller inputs rather than just keys. I believe development has stopped on FTNoIR at 1.70/1.80 beta. Open Track appears to be the platform going forward.
  10. Anyone reading this should also consider Open Track. It is the successor to FaceTrack NoIR and offers some extra feature such as relative translation. https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack
  11. FaceTrackNoIR using Point Tracker Input and Accela Smoothing is very steady and responsive. In my case, much more so than Freetrack. The only drawback is it doesn't support relative translation......YET. Even without it though I couldn't go back to Freetrack.
  12. The material is made up of tiny spherical particles which, in essence, turn light around and send it back to the source from almost any angle. Wrinkles, creases and corners should barely be perceived by the wearer. Since it is just a single projector, no alignment is necessary. If they can nail down the headtracking, increase the resolution and FOV (all of which they are already working on) I can see a future of interactive, projected cockpits and environments.
  13. Battlezone was amazing back then. My brother and I would play Warcraft and Red Alert over modem, but when Battlezone came along all that stopped. My wife used to get so nauseous when she tried to watch. lol Great callback. StiC
  14. The instrumentation book is listed as no longer available with no immediate plans to do a second edition.
  15. Thanks everyone for the tips and help. I finally got it going with a new video card. I bought A10 and BS2 to go with it and everything looks great. Now I just have to learn to fly them.
  16. Cliffs of Dover 11 months ago and it has taken over my gaming life. Flight sims have become my version of a mid-life crisis.
  17. Not yet sadly. There's something about DCS products that my PC can't handle. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1507395#post1507395 Just waiting on tech support.
  18. Thanks! I just ordered A-10 and BS2. I'm probably getting in way over my head, but at $12.50 each I have to at least try. StiC
  19. I didn't think BS2 was available on Steam. Do we get a code to get it from DCS? They can be turned off if it makes any difference. I picked this up for $5 late last year, and from a technical standpoint at the time, that seemed about right. Since then I've joined a group to fly with and even with all the problems, CloD has become a much greater value. Add on the performance increases we've seen from a multitude of beta patches and release candidates and I would have paid full price. 20. A friend of mine was having difficulty using HIDMacros in Cliffs of Dover. His solution was to run HIDMacros on his netbook and send the keystrokes over his network via tightvnc. I'm not sure if this will work for DCS titles but I plan on finding out someday. http://www.tightvnc.com/
  21. You can separate the stick from the throttle. To everyone else- He wants test the waters, not cannonball into the deep end.
  22. I'd suggest the T-Flight Hotas X. http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/tflight-hotas-x
  23. You can use Touchbuddy on a second, networked PC.
  24. I wondered if anyone else thought of stuff like this. I thought about similar projects but I wanted mine on the outer edge of a variable speed, rotating platform to simulate G forces. Good Stuff
  25. According to the guys on the UK PC Gamer Podcast the resolution wasn't really a problem because the pixel density is higher at the center of the display, much like the way our eyes work in real life. They also said the image filled their FOV. They were very impressed, and although using the O.R. didn't seem to be uncomfortable, one fellow almost got sick when he jumped in DOOM 3. Another began swaying until they put a chair against his leg to help his body remain stationary. They also agree that simmers will be the people that will benefit the most from the O.R. StiC
