how bout you just dont take so long to release this stuff....problem solved....now we can go to crying about the bugs.....and the fact that the summer sale started 8 hours after I bought it at full price..... there is so much whining to do...slow development is holding up the real cryfest...plz hurry and release it so I can quickly start complaining..... ....for the love of god, wheres my F-18c.....(and carrier ops)...(and more ground units)....(you know what, AND a F-16c)...(and, I wanted all this back in 2009).....(tighten the **** up)..... jk -
XFire (Not AMD CROSSFIRE)
Davis0079 replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was speaking of AMD crossfire....when I saw "X-Fire", I assumed they where meaning "Crossfire"....which to the best of my knowledge, does not work in DCS.... ....My Bad... -

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Davis0079 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
everyone knows a F-16 would be a monumental addition to DCS (DCS:F-16c would break all sales records)....even ED has to know this....but in their defense, they did pick the F-16s competitor as their next true DCS module...the F-18....both light weight fighters....for naval ops though you will definitely need bigger landing gear and duel engines....so the F-18 is perfect....or at least I seem to think so... ...lets just hope it comes out before 2027....at which time i plan to have already won the lotto and bought my own F-16a to use instead of a car or limo. -
It's Friday again (soon). Anything new to sweeten the weekend?
Davis0079 replied to blackbelter's topic in Chit-Chat
we got an updater update -
I found the manual in DCS World/Mods/aircraft/F-15c/Doc.....dont know why it doesnt show up under All Programs>Eagle Dynamics>DCS World>Docs.....

I have a problem now.....with the Do Script function...when I copy/paste a script in the text box, it seems to take it all....but then if I exit the trigger page and re-enter it...only like 162 of the 2000+ lines of script are saved.....I keep getting an error "unexpected symbol near line 162"...and I'm like WFT....but then looking into it...there is no problem with the script...it that its not saving the whole thing....it ends at 162.....Do I have to just use the Do Script File instead of Do Script....

you will fly the FC3 aircraft by launching and playing DCS World.....without having to over explain it...technically I guess you would call that a merge....but most here see it as an addon...lol...if theres a difference?

Why don't tanks have periscopes for turret down?

now a mounted camera is a damn fine idea -
Why don't tanks have periscopes for turret down?
Davis0079 replied to guitarxe's topic in Military and Aviation
....the periscope you are thinking of in modern combat is call a predator drone or infantry..... ....its like asking why Hueys dont come with hellfire missiles....answer...its not an anti armor device.... ...most modern main battle tanks are not considered good scout vehicles...and the addition of a raise-able periscope sounds like a good penetration in the armor system for an explosion to come through at....and lord help you if you happen to be looking through it at the time of the blast...shattered glass and mirrors arent good for the eyes... just an opinion -
you can take the current textures and "color to alpha" certain colors to make your own rivet and panel line layers from the current texture....after about 3 days you will have your own .psd layers, there by creating your own templates... ....as we say in the construction industry...."You just got to want to do it."....

no....all keyboard mapping...that is the main difference between "DCS" airframes and FC3... i dont believe any more none clickable stuff is being made....they simply added the old FC2 aircraft to DCS to give new players a lower learning curve and old players some airframes to fly till better stuff is built.... ...DCS is "High Fidelity" stuff (clickable cockpits and accurate system models) ...FC3 is for ppl that want to learn to fly and shoot stuff without the hours of studying needed in DCS airframes

thz for the quick replies

moving to notepad++ is a better way...it free and works with lua files properly...consider this the correct answer to your situation...
-
not range.....i got that under control.....in the F-16 once locked onto a target you could zoom in the radar screen with one click....making it possible to see clusters of targets at long range...and sort through them.... .....the answer seems to be no, you cannot map a radar fov to the pinky switch.... p.s.....if you ever played BMS you would know what I speak of....
-
dont like the FC cockpits....but it what I have to work with.... ...quick question....does the FC3 F-15c have an expanded radar fov that would normally be controlled by the pinky switch on a hotas....for multi targets in TWS, it would be nice to expand the radar screen to properly pick though enemy formations..... ...I can't seem to find anything on this in the manual...and I'm use to doing this in other aircraft...mainly high fidelity F-16s made by other projects...

teamspeak is the answer to 99% of all friendly fire situations....hell...with a little teamwork, you may even start winning air engagements... ...crazy talk...
-
time to learn guard channels and raygun calls.....oh wait...our FC3 aircraft have no working radio systems......yeah, your screwed....

very true... ...till someone sees two planes circling 30 miles apart from each other, doing the BVR dance, its hard for them to understand BVR, missile on rail defeating, notching and beaming... ...same with radar discipline, comms discipline and sop, airfield discipline and sop....the list goes on.... ....sadly enough, most of the great video tutorials are on startup and weapons deployment...not weapon theory...BVR theory...proper flight planning....mission and waypoint theory....air defense considerations when planing missions and waypoints....once again, the list goes on... ..as for the "not everyone has Falcon installed" comment.....the falcon community does have a very hardcore side to it....since there is no real public servers, you start off with a squad or flying with ppl you know.....then when your squad signs up for redflag or some other big events that run everyday still, you get to see and fly with the truly hardcore simmers out there....and in that setting....most everyone is flying silent and using the radar to just ping in certain directions when necessary....everyone online is on teamspeak in order to join the server...and funny enough, most everyone is flying F-16s without IFF, and with teamspeak alone (IVC), just by calling out contacts on guard channel and "rayguns", I SEE LESS ONLINE FRIENDLY FIRE in bms then i do on dcs servers....the new ppl are flying with senior ppl till they get the hang of it... ....all this is possible with DCS....the main thing I find holding DCS back is the lack of IVC or some other server comms (new ppl dont get on teamspeak...others dont feel like it for just one flight)...the ability to change the channel in the aircraft on the radio dial from guard to guard is priceless....DCS lacks a serious radio system and therefore lacks any real online teamwork for squads and lone wolves alike.. ..but of course this in my hardcore side speaking and recommending that servers force logging on to comms...but I see this as the true answer to new players flying around locking on to everyone while on final approach to the wrong side of a runway they didnt contact...IVC solves all that...airfield by airfield, channel by channel, all by just changing the dial in the cockpit... .as long as ppl learn what guard channels are and know what airfield they are at.....perhaps I'm asking a bit too much....

this damn thing is getting moved all over the place......Is this the right forum?.....I got a black and grey one to upload, but I'd rather put it in the right spot so the moderators dont need to put in overtime organizing stuff.

Back on topic....I agree with the OP.... First...in a real world environment, not every swinging [] in the sky has his radar on.... ..........this is done for many reasons....the most obvious is stealth...(good pilots will dogfight you without radar on so you cant use your RWR as an advantage) .........when flying in a squad, only the flight lead should be pinging his radar to gain SA (it should not be on all the time)...IRL you would use awacs and keep off opponents RWR... Second....IF your SA is that good (for those that are complaining that turning radar off lowers their SA), you dont need the thing on the whole time....you ping for targets, get a alt and bearing, maneuver for a fight or escape....lord help you if your on comms with other players....or are in a position to drag the fight into friendly sam coverage.... ...with proper radar discipline and good comms or awacs, you normally don't point your radar towards homeplate for the entire flight home....it gives everyone heading out to battle the wrong signals... ....do I care when ppl do it?...no ....do I understand how to properly work with others to help keep the battlefield clutter down to a minimum?...yes... ....learning to read a battlefield without your radar on all the time is the next step to refining your dog fighting ability (use the RWR and Awacs)....and you dont loss SA...you gain too much in sneakyness to worry about ppl that dont yet know your there....

DL. LINK.. http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/537543/Black-rar.html DL. LINK So, with alot of smoke and a little bit of drink, I sat down and put a weekend into making me a black F-15. With all the hardwork done by ED supplying a psd template and plenty motivation to do something completely useless in my blood stream, I made this. Feel free to use it, change it, shoot it, or complain about it. To change the squad insignia you must change the file "f15_decol_FL_Black.dds" To change the pilot name, you must change the alpha channel on the file "f15_decol_FL_Black.dds" ....OR....you must change the description.lua, every place you see "f15_decol_FL_Black" must be changed to a current DCS tail number and the value must be changed to true.

...calmer then you are... ...i dont have a problem with ppl dreaming.. ..and I know all about the past press releases.. ..I'm not speaking in absolutes....but a clickable F-15 will not be seen around here anytime soon....we will be lucky if you can count the years on one hand....too many other for sure things have already been spoken in front of a FC3 upgrade to DCS clickability....I cant believe I even have to convince you of this.. ...this is my last post on this subject...Best wishes and good luck to all.... ...this is a current list of things being worked on...tracked by the community...it is very long...and very incomplete....lots have already been done...and much more is to come.... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116893 .... this is on it (F-15 - Clickable cockpit (planned))....but the over/under is 7 years...place your bets accordingly....

hate to ask it, cuz i know the answer is around......In FC3, can the F-15 hud be changes in a lua file like FC2 ?....and if so, Where?....I cant seem to find it... p.s. black is the color I'm looking for, to counter bloom and HDR making the morning fog look so good.
