  1. Eh- Me again. Is there a way to define random parking number spaces beyond just saying "big" or "med" or "big or med?" Trying to stay somewhat random but also sticking to some plausible aircraft configurations in some places. Using the "addresses" on the parking stalls... or at least ranges of those parking spaces, could work. I don't see anything in documentation but it's not because it's not there... But I've been looking pretty carefully in the areas outlined above and having no luck. Also- I have been using ...BigOrMed for the most part since using only "Med" doesn't seem to result in anything spawning. Not sure if I'm missing something but I haven't been able to make it work. Thanks again in advance,
  2. Yes... I was on a phone before so I couldn't go into much detail so thanks for elaborating a bit Exorcet! So the way it will work in the simplest terms is you blow up a column (or a percentage of a column" and your action is to set flag to a random value like Exorcet says. So the flag number will be... say... 1. Random value of flag 1 will be 1-100. Now a flag has been set (or raised... whatever way you like to look at it) at whatever value it's going to be... let's say it comes up as a random value of 12. So now flag 1 is at a value of 12... you can't see that- but the game does. The next trigger you want to set up is a run once trigger that is set with a condition that flag 1 is "less than" 25. And the action you want is to spawn your CAP group. As an option, you could create a couple different types of CAP aircraft groups... so if flag one is "less than 25 but more than 20" it could come up as group A... and less than 100 but more than 80 it could activate group B... there are loads of options you can choose from. These would need to be separate triggers but you get the idea. you can pretty much just clone the trigger and very easily change the conditions and actions. I'm not sure your level of expertise Boomer so I don't want to confuse you. To add to it I'm just getting back into it again so I'm a bit rusty and I don't want to mislead you. Fortunately we've got guys like Exorcet who actually know what they're talking about looking over my shoulder to help make sure I'm giving you the right info!
  3. I've got a few different groups of aircraft spawning uncontrolled at Kobuleti- fighter sized aircraft of different types are disappearing as they start to head out to the taxiway... Other aircraft of the same type seem to be fine- not sure the connection. Any ideas?
  4. There are probably easy scripting ways through MIST and MOOSE that would get you there but if you use a variable flag between 2 values you can then set a condition that if that flag value is greater than or less than or equal to- however you want- then you can spawn the CAP. You’d also set a flag for when columns were either totally destroyed or within a certain percentage of being destroyed... having a percentage can help prevent the mission from stalling in the event one pesky vehicle goes into hiding and can’t be found.
  5. Perfect thanks a ton. Hadn’t looked far enough down the page.
  6. Best. 13. Pages. Ever. This is an awesome, easy to use tool that instantly enhances the ambiance of any mission- Just getting some activity in the world is a huge boost. I've started with some simple enhancements demonstrated in the initial videos and now hunting around for the script for the activating uncontrolled units- I think that's where the real money can be. I see the basic scripts in the documentation in the link provided in one of the initial posts- but where can I find the script used to activate the uncontrolled units? Is there a brief sample of how that looks? Edit: Nevermind- found it! But I am curious about what these numbers represent? cessna:ActivateUncontrolled(30, 120, 120, 0.5) I see this is "Uncontrolled are activated randomly after certain time intervals..." Are these just random intervals in seconds with more potential for 120 seconds to be selected? Does .5 just say the randomness will be within 50% of the other numbers? A bit confused by that. (EDIT again- I'm an idiot... it's literally a few posts above this one. Sorry guys. ) Where can I find the "definitions" for the scripts?
  7. That server got my attention but was under the impression there was a limit to the number of people who could join in... definitely will take another look.
  8. Good to hear!
  9. Yeah that sounds like something in my range... keep me posted on where you end up with that and if I get a mission finished I can share it with you for use. Still getting reacquainted with the ME. Thanks Pikey that sounds awesome too- I’ll reach out when I’m back home and I’ll apply for access once I feel I can keep up to the needs of a campaign. Awesome information.
  10. I don't know if you've already seen them- but I made this reference a bit earlier... There are a couple guys who did interviews for the Aircrew Interview channel on youtube that I think may interest you. There are a couple remarkably candid accounts of how various aircraft performed against the F-14... If you're interested, do a search for the interviews by Keith "Okie" Nance (he has a few... all are really good to listen to since he doesn't mince his words- at all) and the other one I think is pertinent to this discussion is from David "Hey Joe" Parsons (Part 1). "Hey Joe" does tell a great story where he thinks he was actually flying with Okie (Hey Joe was a RIO and Okie an F14 driver with about 6000 hours- 3900 of which were in various Tomcat models) in some DACT against F-15s and the real turn around where Tomcats were more competitive seemed to be in the shift to what Eagle drivers called "Big Motors." There are a lot of things to consider when attributing success or failure to engines alone- and Okie goes to some pretty great lengths to elaborate on several factors including what he calls "flying his best jet." Anyway- as I sat back watching the debate above unfold all I could think about was that these interviews really captured the essence of the back and forth. Seemed like people were just misreading context and going at a statement a different way than was intended while it was practically summarized in these interviews. Anyway- just go youtube search those two names... Hey Joe only really had the one story about the F-15s... but Okie is asked about a variety of different platforms several times.
  11. I haven’t run a server for awhile but I’d be focusing on slmod... If I could find a way to make it work it’s the ideal solution. If HC says it works then there’s probably a way.
  12. No. I’ve literally never thought that since it is a ludicrous suggestion. Back to the original question I guess what I’m keeping my eye open for are casual servers that will accommodate a broad range of flight preferences... If guys know of such servers please feel free to continue to post them here.
  13. Thanks zeagle- it’s nice to have some options!
  14. Sounds like we have a few things in common- mind if I reach out to you in IM?
  15. I’m not a noob and the people I’m thinking of aren’t noobs- I’m just not interested in the pretentious snobbery of people in a sim who pretend to be real pilots.
  16. Yeah fragbum that’s kind of what I’m thinking- Trying to figure out if it’s worth the effort of trying to set one up.
  17. ... who would play MP if there was a casual MP server with all flyable aircraft available in hot and cold start positions? Maybe some air start positions too? I find I am hesitant to join a server since many I see seem a little more advanced than I am willing to go- I just want to fly the plane. I want to get better- sometimes I can help and sometimes I need help. Maybe one day I’ll feel like I can “do the thing” but until then where do I bang into the edges? Is there already such a server with discord? Just come in, fly and don’t be a dick?
  18. Sounds like you and Okie must be buddies... Love his interviews. He has me very curious to give the A a good run when it comes out since, as he mentions several times, there are certain pockets where the A outperforms the B... Not sure if he felt the same way about the D with it's additional system advantages (but heavier I've read) but from a pure performance standpoint anyway he is adamant that if the A was flown in its niche market it could benefit from mechanical fuel control. He mentions he and or his son were involved in this project at some level (I can't recall specifically though I've watched all his interviews about half a dozen times) - do you guys actually know each other?
  19. Uh- okay so I guess I’ll call it something else?
  20. Okay... no bites yet so I'll keep brain storming a bit. Here is a photo of the general map area. You'll notice the start / finish line are marked with the blue circle which is located at a very prominent landmark- the dam just North of Zugdidi... Home of the Idi Bidi Didi Committee. The primary route is dark blue... With the option to swing around for a second pass or exit along the green line. The prospect of aircraft traveling opposing directions along the route isn't my favourite but... from a spectator perspective that might be cool. There is an extended route in Magenta which doesn't add much other than a bit of variety... Emphasis on bit... I've flown the route a few times and it flows really well- the primary almost exclusively follows a river with the exception of the northern tip where you crest the mountains and have to spot the river on the back side. This isn't hard- but you need to be ready for the turn. I've been thinking about the screenshot thing and I think the platinum standard would be to complete the basic premise with all aircraft types available at nearby airfields and do a monthly fly in event with "plane spotters" at certain points. I'd need some basic triggers to "close" the loop if more than a certain number of aircraft are inside it- with some tanker support for folks who are waiting... both nation's carriers available for carrier take offs, landings and touch and goes... Other basic triggers for timing aircraft types and keeping below 1000 feet AGL while in the route to disqualify times are other thoughts. I'm concerned about static objects I'd originally thought I wanted to use for marking the route- conspicuously in some areas and inconspicuously in others... TV towers, airshow crowds... Tried smoke markers that were new since I was last active but that didn't work so I think they needed to be activated? I've been reading some objects don't show up in the multiplayer environment? Any insights on that? Anyway... I'll post a video of the loop later today. Pop by and take a look! EDIT: Nevermind the video- was hoping to pull a bunch of footage from the replay track however that is, as it always has been, an absolute abomination. I flew the whole loop and landed but the replay shows me thrown off the catapult and going for a swim within 30 seconds. wtf over.
  21. I'm an idiot... you read it here first.
  22. Brief back story... This song was one of my favourites around the time I fell in love with the Tomcat... It's wine sipping, love making good... This song just kicked the whore out of bed and introduced me to a meth addiction and bankruptcy... True love. I just like creating videos- and in doing so I try not to take it too seriously. With that said, open to constructive feedback!
  23. Same.
  24. I've been trying to think of some type of casual flying mission that might be fun but I'm not sure about a few things. The general premise would involve flight along a nice length corridor just north of Senaki-Kolkhi. Aircraft of all types would be available as well as spectator vehicle positions at or along the valley. I imagine I'd run random groups of AI aircraft intermittently through- which would be neat even just for the occasional video from the spectators view. -IMO- What I'm really curious about, however, is whether or not it's possible to "force" a client computer to take a screenshot from the POV of a spectator vehicle so that a client can run the loop and have screenshots taken on his computer based on coordinates of a ground vehicle, looking in a certain direction at a certain level of inclination. After their flight they could go look into their screenshots and have some neat shots to share. I'm dubious about the concept since if I can make someone's computer take a screenshot it probably would also let me do other things... Alternatively, I wonder if a script could be written to the server computer which would take "screen captures" of the area that could be retrieved and sent out by request. I can't imagine this type of flying appeals to many so I suspect keeping up with the demand wouldn't be an issue. Maybe even just running it as an event at some point where everyone can fly in and we'll have designated people to take screenshots? I don't know... I just really like the idea and think it would be easy enough to set up with a few suggestions or tips. Appreciate any insights.
