John was talking about it in his Radar tutorial (14:30min).

Great news Wormeaten! Bravo!

I did it few times so it can be done. Don't hit the runway too fast, and too hard. And, after touchdown, you need to pull the stick towards yourself. I think the main factor is vertical speed.

You have to remove the lock pin first (RShift+G). You have a thread about it as a Sticky in the MiG-21Bis section.

Tetra, can you make green cockpit?
-
Unfortunately, I can't provide you a solution, but I can only say that I have very low-end PC (barely runs DCS) and I don't have this problem. Maybe you should try turning down the texture settings for a moment, because it seems that some bugs manifests at higher settings so you could narrow down the problem. I hope that you will figure it out soon because giving up on cold starts would be a shame.

Since upgrade #3 the landing and takeoff was more difficult, normal ?
Mrgud replied to Skulleader's topic in MiG-21Bis
I also tried few take-offs and landings and doesn't have that problem. I even tried hard landing and tires were ok. I was without payload and about 1000L of fuel. John, thanks for the link for change log! Somehow I've missed it... -

Sorry guys, can someone give me a link to change log for upgrade #3? Thanks! -
Soulres, I don't have 400 dollars to build new rig. The point of this little upgrade of mine was to extend my PC's life for the smallest amount of cash. I'm not aiming at full details. I would like to have 30fps at medium settings (without AA) and I think that it could be done with current components if I change GPU. I started this thread because I though that I had real GTX 650 which still should be better than my old card, but during last few days, some facts have come to light and explainded my lack of fps after upgrade. And even if I had 400$, one thing is to buy PC in the US, and another thing is pay shippement to Croatia, and then 25% taxes + 13% custom fees.

First of all, I would like to say that this isn't category of bug which interferes with the module's playability. I was fooling around yesterday and to cut story short, I tipped over but was't able to respawn because pilot lived. I tried to kill the pilot by ejecting him to the ground but couldn't do that either. So, for some reason I opened canopy and when I did that, the plane started bouncing around in circles. When I closed canopy, the bouncing stoped. I did open-close change few times. Maybe it is interesting for developers to see and maybe it isn't. I attached the track file anyway. bouncing_bug.trk

I didn't think to buy new GPU right now because I'm out of money. That step would come in a few months (december/january) and I hope that EDGE will be released till then. But I was just curious about those two cards I mentioned. As I said before, I'm still in contact with the ebay seller and, if I understood them right, they want to make up for my loss and offering to send a new card. Only thing I have to pay is 25 dollars shipping + taxes which are high in Croatia (25%), but only if items worth exceeds 20 euros. So, maybe I could get new card which will work as it should (GTX 650) or some degenerated card like one I bought earlier for just 25 dollars. But even that degenerated card, when OC-ed at 900mhz was better than my 9600GT. Regards the PSU, I have some devices connected to my USB (Track IR5, Wireless LAN and phantom powered external sound card (because I'm a musician) but all of this shouldn't be significant load to the PSU. I have only one HDD and the rest is standard PC.

You don't need to do scripting. You can use TARGET GUI and map the keyboard commands to your HOTAS. It is really very easy and you can always ask if you have problems using it (I will gladly help you). I'm making my profile these days, but I don't want to have everything mapped. I can give it to you so you can modify it or make a new one for yourself. I think that to make your own personalized profile is the only right way, because we are all individuals and like to have certain things done it certain way. @Surge0n - do you mean Team Speak buttons or what TS buttons?

My RAM works at 400mhz x2 (800mhz). The sticks are even the same brand as old ones. I don't think that is it, because the card work exactly the same in new owner's PC. I have bad fps because the GPU is bottleneck at the moment. As I said, when I overclocked "GTX 650" to 900mhz, I gained some 10fps right away, so everything is clear now. shagrat, very good find, thanks a lot! Because I'm still in touch with ebay seller, and I will tell him your discovery! But, that particular card is obviously some mix of GTX 650 snd 630. I use my old 9600GT now, but I reduced resolution to 1024x768 and I have 30-35 fps on some medium settings (view distance at high) so I can fly the MiG until I get new card (but not from ebay). EDIT: Since I mentioned new GPU, I was thinking about 750 TI (in that case I don't have to change the power supply) or 660 TI but it needs 150W and I have SL-500 power supply so I don't know would my PSU be able to manage it. I used http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp to calculate my current power consumption and I get some 280W (330W recommended) and when I changed to GTX 660 TI, the result was 400W (480W recommended). But that result is a little bit strange because my 9600GT needs 95W so 660 TI should be some 55W more (not 120W). I know that for 660 TI you need 450W PSU (and I have 500W), but I think that my PSU is some no-name and I'm not sure if it'ss smart to test it with that card. What is your opinion on those two cards (750 TI vs. 660 TI)? I only play DCS.
-
I was honest and I gave it for the good price. The guy who bought it plays Counter Strike and the card will be sufficient for that. I contacted him later and he says that the card works like on my PC so it's the card that has issues but he is very satisfied with it. :)
-
Hi guys, I took some time and tested the card and it turns out that this card is either damaged or some kind of weaker version of GTX 650. The card has 96 CUDA cores instead of 384, Texture fillrate is 5.6 GTexel/s instead of 33.9, Memory Bandwidth is 51.2GB/s instead of 80.0, Core is working at 700mhz instead of 1058 and Memory is working at 800mhz instead of 1250! Anyway, I managed to sell it before I stuck with it. So I guess that I have learned my lesson on buying on ebay: -everything about the product HAS to be written. There is no room for assumptions of any kind.

You mean CPU or GPU? I was thinking about BIOS update but my mother board is Intel DP43TF and I heard that it has been some problems with this particular M/B BIOS update (very risky) so that would be my last option if even than I decide to do that.
-
OK, I had to do something, so I gradually increased GPU core clock and monitor the temperature. I eventually ended at 910mhz (max) but that still isn't even default speed (1058mhz). But finally I got improvement in fps by 10+. The temperature and the voltage are the same, and the fan is working at 60% so I think it's not dangerous. As I though, new GPU must be at least 30% faster than old one, and if I could make it run at 1058mhz it would be. I finally could set some of the options at medium and still have around 25 fps which is minimum for smooth playing. Obviously something is wrong with the firmware or software so PLEASE take a moment and try to think what could be the answer because this segment is out of my league! Thanks in advance! :helpsmilie: @C84 - what is your GPU's clock speed?
-
No, I don't think it would help me getting more fps. It can get only worse in my opinion but I can try. Any sugestions how to force my card to work faster (as it should by default)? Can it be BIOS, or something with the drivers went wrong? How is it possible that CPU-Z doesn't see anything about my card except the name and RAM quantity?
-
tobyeez - I didn't sped too much. OK guys, we are going in wrong direction right now. I NOW that this card is not high-end card, but it should be better that my old 9600gt and it seems that it isn't working like it should right now. Can anyone please help me with that instead of convicing me that this card can't do better? I see that except the core (which works at 100% but at lower clock), other components works on some 40% so there must be to make it in a balance. And as C84 said, he has 35-60fps on medium settings with this card (if I remember correctly).

I did it today. Here are the news: When I turned to lowest possible resolution ( 1024x768 ) I had 37 fps in Mig and 47 in Mustang. That's 12 fps gained. I was on the ramp start, no mission, just few soldiers around and one static plane. Nobody moving or shooting. I usually run at 1680x1050. I tried to take a screenshot of my settings in DCS but I get Desktop picture, so, imagine all the settings on lowest possible (I clicked LOW before) only preload radius on 100 000. I tried to reduce even that to 100 and gained no fps at all. Ok, I wasn't moving so maybe that's why I didn't notice any difference. But, I think that I found the problem but I need your opinions. When I opened MSI Afterburner, I noticed that my GPU core is running at 700mhz instead of 1058. And my GPU memory clock is 1600mhz. But first, what does the memory specification 1250mhz (5000 effective) means? At what speed should my memory run? In Afterburner I can increase GPU clock up to 910mhz and memory up to 2080 but I think something is wrong with computer not recognizing new card like it should. During the card change, I uninstalled and deleted old GPU's driver in safe mode and installed new GPU's drivers without any problems. But it seems that my new card is working like my old one. Another strange thing is that CPU-Z sees nothing about my new card. Only name and that it has 2048mb of ram. Other fields are empty! These are my GPU's readings: Idle - DCS voltage 0.9V-1.1 temperature 30-63 (Celsius) Fan speed 60%-60% FB usage 0%-40% Shader clock 800-1800mhz Memory clock 300-1600mhz Ok guys, what should I do? P.S. once again thanks to all involved in solving this problem!

Great work Wormeaten, but you have wrong numbers on your skins. 164 and 166 are UM not Bis variant. You should put numbers from 131 to 135 if I remember right. Those are the MiGs that were modernized in Ukraine and that are Bis variants. Bravo Perica! Guys, where can we get Croatian skins?

Thanks guys for answers, I really appreciate it! A friend from our (Croatian) forum bought Xeon X5460 for himself, overclockeed it to 4ghz and he is very satisfied wizh the result. Ok, he has Gainward 570GTX GS but he runs DCS and other titles like Titanfall (I don't even know what it is - I don't play anything except DCS) on very high details and on multiple monitors. So, if proccesor is so weak, I don't think he could do that. So, I decided to buy one for myself. I'm at work right now so I don't remember name of M/B but it's Intel DT43?? (something like that). But My new gtx650 must be stronger some 30% that 9600GT - or am I wrong? I will try with minimum resolution when I get home and post a screen of my settings in DCS. I measured fps in MiG-21, alone at the rampstart. No AIs, and not over city. Just me. I know that MiG is most demanding for PC, but it's all I'm interested right now. I will try with a Mustang and see how it goes. @c84 - wow - you are a lucky man! Other friend has PC similar to my old rig, I had 20-25 fps, he had 2-7! So something is wrong. To ask again: should I consider BIOS upgrade? Because new GPU is PCIE 3.0 and M/B supports 2.0 or for any other reason?

Guys, it's me again! :( As I stated it CPU overheats thread, I upgraded my PC but there is no FPS gain. I have barely 2 fps more than before. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=131459 → (CPU overheating thread) Old configuration: Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 - 3Ghz GeForce 9600GT - 512MB (ddr3) 4GB RAM (ddr2) New configuration: Xeon X5460 - 4 cores at 3.16Ghz NVidia GTX650 - 2GB / ddr5 8GB RAM (ddr2) At this moment my options in DCS are at lowest possible and I get some 20-25 fps. When I upgraded RAM (nothing), than CPU (nothing but I though that my old GPU was to blame) but today I put new GPU and gained only 2 fps! I know that GTX 650 is a low-end GPU compared to what you guys have but it still should be better than six years old 9600GT. I don't expect to run DCS at high level of details, but I would like to have some 30 fps on medium settings. Question: I have six years old BIOS, so should I update it? Can new GPU be inhibited by some BIOS or other software settings? 2 cards comparison:

Ok guys, thanks! @Kuky - I don't have any experience or software for downclocking or overclocking. Also, I can't manually set the fan speed (to set it to maximum). Is there an option in BIOS to see temperature of the cores or just the package? Everything you said makes sense. Obviously I have to buy another cooler. Thanks!

Hi guys! My computer begs for an upgrade for a some time now and I want to fly the MiG-21 very badly, so I decided to spend few bucks on a cheapest possible upgrade. Old configuration: Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 - 3Ghz GeForce 9600GT - 512MB (ddr3) 4GB RAM (ddr2) New configuration: Xeon X5460 - 4 cores at 3.16Ghz NVidia GTX650 - 2GB / ddr5 8GB RAM (ddr2) I had to modify CPU socket from lga775 to lga771 and new processor is working like it should. The only thing is that the temperature is a little to high. Maximum temperature allowed is around 70 degrees Celsius and I get 80+ (when playing DCS). The heatsink is installed correctly but it's a stock Intel heatsink E18764-001. The thermal paste I used is Arctic MX-2. My PC is running normal (no freezes or restarts). I installed few programs to monitor CPU temp. and noticed that there are some differences in readings. All (CPUID HWMonitor, RealTemp, CoreTemp...) shows some 15 degrees more than SpeedFan so I thought that SpeedFan is wrong. But when I go to BIOS, under CPU DIE/PACKAGE TEMP - PROCHOT i get reading close to the SpeedFan's. And that's that 15 degrees over the limit. Second thing is that in BIOS my fan speed is around 880 rpm (I think it's low) and I can't get the fan to work faster, but it's strange that CPU is probably overheating and fan is doing nothing about it. So I'm suspicious is the CPU overheating at all. So my questions are: 1. is it possible to have false reading of the CPU temp. in 4 different programs (and correct in only one)? 2. in BIOS - is "CPU DIE/PACKAGE TEMP - PROCHOT" CPU temperature? 3. Should I experience system instability like freezes and restarts or shut-downs before CPU gets damaged? I was thinking about new heatsink but I very low on a budget right now. Maybe Arctic Freezer 7 pro or something in that class. Any answer is appreciated, and thanks for your time! :helpsmilie:
