[ANN] Web-based Lua debug console for DCS: World missions
Mrgud replied to FSFIan's topic in Mission Editor
I have tried using Internet Explorer but when I typed localhost:3000 I got message: The webpage cannot be displayed Most likely cause: •Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed. Do you have any idea what should be installed because I don't use Internet Explorer at all? If the answer is negative, the only thing left is to reinstall DCS some day and try to setup the whole thing again. Thanks for help anyway! ;) -

I did add it by adjusting the trigger action. Here is a screenshot: -

I have successfully opened Lua Console  ;) I did what you said but there wasn't any result just a message: waiting for result... Where should I place Mistv3_3.lua on my HD? Does this matter? -
[ANN] Web-based Lua debug console for DCS: World missions
Mrgud replied to FSFIan's topic in Mission Editor
Hi Ian! Last few days I didn't have any time for DCS. Lua scripting is beyond my skills so if you can explain basically what I need to do to test if everything is set up correctly. For beginning: how can I open Lua Console? If it is to much work to explain to programming rookie, don't bother. I have found some on-line tutorials about Lua scripting but I really have no time and interest in mastering programming languages. -
Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
Mrgud replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Great news! I'm most excited about Mig-21 content upgrade (new sounds, green cockpit and Croatian AF skin), but altogether, 2015. sounds promising for Leatherneck Simulations! EDIT: I just don't see the point of turning almost every update thread into guess/wish-list... -
[ANN] Web-based Lua debug console for DCS: World missions
Mrgud replied to FSFIan's topic in Mission Editor
I am using it, and I have set the trigger like you said. In which folder on my HD should I put Mistv3_3.lua (does it matter)? In Mist guide I read about some rare bug when using DO SCRIPT FILE trigger action (Page 7, Note #1). -
I had a lots of fun today, thanks Gavagai! I even had few kills and for the first time, I'm very satisfied. At some point, I was gone for maybe 3 or 4 minutes and when I came back, everyone has left. So, see you next time!
-
@jcomm - yes, you were there. ;) I repeat, I'm not new to DCS so I know about zoom and how hard it is to spot an enemy plane, I'm just new to WWII multiplayer segment of the DCS and that visual identification is only mean to spot a plane. The problem is that I was convinced that I am in the wrong place. I tried to attack Beslan airfield but AAA was Vulcan or something like that and it killed me without a problem.

[ANN] Web-based Lua debug console for DCS: World missions
Mrgud replied to FSFIan's topic in Mission Editor
Hi Ian! I watched your tutorial video and did everything step by step. Everything is OK until loading mission from DCS. In Command Prompt I have status DCS Connected but when I click or double-click Load Mission from DCS in the Witchcraft interface, nothing happens. :helpsmilie: -
This is excellent! A little bit complicate to understand from my perspective (I'm not a programmer and don't know anything about lua scripts) but I surely will give it a try. Just one question; can other device be android tablet? (because I don't have another computer). EDIT: We can continue conversation in your thread.

I love to increase immersion of my missions by adding some static objects and sometimes just fly around that "little sceneries". But when I create mission using a rampstart and I want that my plane is one in a row, I click on my plane, rampstart, parking number and the plane is placed. But to make a row of static planes, I have to place them shifted some 15 meter in front of my plane. Does anybody knows why it happens? See below: Also, when I copy-paste a soldier for example, pasted soldier doesn't appear under my mouse cursor but shifted that exact distance (some 15 meters). Other times it is OK. Also, it would be very, very helpful if we could see 3D environment when placing objects in mission editor (like in IL-2 mission editor). Now, I have to start my mission many times and make little adjustments to create a simple scenario (soldier standing by the landing zone at FARP) - and it takes time... For example: Is there any help with that problem?

I'm ok with cold starts and even with some distance that has to be crossed before engaging, but when I spend more than an hour trying to find some action and 8 players are online, that's too much for me. I just wanted to try my skills against human opponent and get myself shot down if necessary but give a thump up, practice some more and come again some other time! ;) Oh yes, I wanted to ask all of you: how big is your ping on DCS servers? When I measure my ping on web, it is 23ms but in DCS it rarely goes below 100 and on some servers it's above 500ms so it's often pretty unplayable.
-
Thanks for your answers! I joined the Three lakes another day but it was the end of the mission and than new mission started with allied ships landing and red has to oppose, but it was long before some action started so I had to go. @doom - thank you for the link to gavagai's thread, I will check his server out! I will also check out the mission you attached. I'm having lots of fun with DCS for years, but I'm new to WWII part of it. I bought the Mustang few years ago, but played in singleplayer. I have big ping so it killed lots of fun in my previous attempts on servers. But AI always fight in the same way so it's boring, that's why I decided to try with servers again.

Hi! I am a jet lover but I love DCS fidelity so I purchased almost all modules. On this Christmas sale, I bought the Dora and I love it. After few hours of practicing in singeplayer, I decided to try multiplayer (Dogs of War server) to see if I'm any good against human opponents. There were 8 players when I joined the game; the mission was to take off from Nalchik, follow the river south-east to Beslan and fight against P-51s. Sounds like fun I thought! But it was very boring experience for me. At first, I could read notifications that somebody is fighting somebody but than everything stopped and we where all flying in circles I guess. I flew the pattern few times, than circle above Beslan, even turned my navigation lights on. I started to complain to the guys that I'm bored and we should meet and dogfight but majority of them was telling me some old school WWII veteran story like "in real life it's hard to spot enemy plane..." To cut it short. I'm not new to DCS, I love it's complexity and I know that the point is on realism and that it isn't some arcade shooter, but I was flying for almost one and a half hour without fighting anyone! In real life, you would fly every day, sometimes few missions on one day, but I have a job, little son and other obligations and I have only one hour per day (if I'm lucky) for my flying. So that „in real life“ tales has to be with some measure I think. So my question here is: on which server can I join and have some fun without spending one hour on finding the enemy? I loved Su-27 dogfights and gunzo servers because sometimes I just love instant action rather than flying some complex mission like A-10C for example. Give me your opinions please!

I will wait for Oculus Rift giveaway! I couldn't resist! ;) I already have Mi-8, but really nice of you to give away keys. Although I think that most of DCS players can afford to buy module of their choice at least on sale.
-
As I remember, it is a known bug and it appears with texture settings on high. I experience it also after rig upgrade as I turned settings on high.
-
Can you guys add a screenshot of green cockpit please? I don't have DCS beta and I would really like to see how it's done. Thank you!
-
I agree with you guys about Free Track. I started my tracking with it few years ago but when DCS came out, there was some problems with compatibility, and with new updates my tracking has stopped working so I decided to buy Track IR just to make sure it will constantly work with DCS.
-
I have to disagree. I heard lot of stories about people breaking the track clip pro, but in all cases they are to blame. It is fragile, that for sure, but I use mine for few years now, haven't sat down on it so it's just like new. And I think that it's far better than mirrored track clip. I use both variants, and there is quite a big difference. OnlyforDCS - if you can, buy the gamers set (with both variants). I would recommend used one if you can find it to save some money. Or if you buy only camera, make yourself track clip pro with IR diodes as for Free Track. You will be satisfied with the result.

@kirk Dude, what happened with your cockpit labels?! ;)
-
I had similar problem before (some 10-15sec freezing at the mission start) but it has gone away in the latest update.
-
Great progress Wormeaten! But it seems to me that there should be darker shades of colors. Don't you agree? It looks kinda plastic this way. That was my favorite paint scheme...
-
+1 I watched it few years ago when flying Captain's Sim's MiG-21UM for FSX but also totally forgot to share it here.

Ozzzy, thank you very much for PM about this post! I gave up hope with this thread so I wasn't around. This is good example of intelligent approach to the problem. I admit, it never crossed my mind. It took me a little time to figure how to do this with copies of assignments, but at the end it works like a charm. Maybe this will save somebody's time: name the RELEASE ones Flaps Take-Off because that's what they are. I was confused about Flaps Down on the Up position of the switch. Reputation earned!
