  1. Ok, so I replaced the model files for the ZSU-23-4 Shilka contained in Bazar/World/shapes with the old files. I ran the same mission, even keeping the mission editor open while replacing the files, and the muzzle flash is the much more reasonable standalone one. So this bug is not present in 1.2.3 with 1.1.2.2 model files. I'll do some more digging, but I'm severely limited by not knowing the first thing about how the game engine works. :D EDIT: The relevant file is zsu-23-4.edm.
  2. Hi! I'm looking into two pet peeve bugs of mine, and I want to know a) where in the game files the logic for which event triggers which sound lies. This is not in the Sounds folder: the sdef files only consider how the relevant sound should be played, not when. b) which files contain the models/textures/shaders/whatever for the muzzle flashes of weapons. That is, I want to know where the actual flash lives. The LoDs on some of them have been porked since standalone A10, and while I probably won't be able to modify these files myself, I'd at least like to try some simple replacement with old files. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
  3. For completeness, I guess this should be posted here too: Aircraft cannon impacts on the ground produce no sound.
  4. While it might be a bit naïve to assume it's a 20 minute job, there's only room for naïve speculation in the absence of ED telling us why it's not been fixed/why it can't be fixed. I mean, it worked a few versions ago (just confirmed in the last standalone A10 version), and it doesn't seem like something difficult to reinstate. Was it perhaps decided that individual cannon round impacts would lead to too many sound clips needing playing? If so, wouldn't it be possible to randomly select 1/4 or whatever impacts to play a sound?
  5. I can confirm that it is not fixed in 1.2.3. This is a Shilka. (Well, the black speck in the middle of the 100 times larger muzzle flare is...) At some distance, a new lod texture takes over, which is MUUUUCH too big. EDIT: Now, the lods of standalone DCS A10 (while not perfect) do not exhibit this behaviour. Mustang, or someone, if you know where the relevant files are, could you either show me so that I can try replacing them for the standalone files, or try that yourselves? Thanks!
  6. Hey Daniel, why did you nerf the missiles? WHY?!
  7. but why u nerf misiles lol
  8. This really needs a fix. At the very least some info. Does anyone (ED) know why a) the GAU-specific sounds do not play? To my knowledge they never have. b) we no longer get generic explosions for the GAU instead? This really breaks immersion :(
  9. Any news on this? The Hog is central to DCS and the gun is central to the Hog. We really want gun explosion sounds!
  10. I'm gonna be a bore and bump these again. (Unless of course it has it been fixed in 1.2.3.) I really think it's distracting -- how come there's not been a fix? Is it technically difficult?
  11. Depending on resolution of course, I'd like to know too -- any visual difference?
  12. I would say that you should notice an improvement with that increase in CPU freq. One possibility I can imagine is that you're being limited by VRAM due to your high resolution. If you want, you could try with and without OC on a lower resolution (like on one screen).
  13. Been discussed several times, please use the search fcn.
  14. I give up.
  15. The jammer can be run completely independently of any of the things you talk about. This thread has nothing at all to do with flares or chaff.
  16. Screenshot comparisons would be great, mate.
  17. Err... The jammer has nothing to do with chaffs and flares.
  18. CA2? I find that unlikely.
  19. Pointing at a bright cloud during daylight I can't see a single thing on the HUD. I imagine it's the same in the real aircraft, though. This is with HDR warm.
  20. Correct. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94760
  21. Another thing about the F/A-18 model: the heat blur effect isn't placed correctly over the engine nozzles.
  22. The game almost certainly won't directly cause BSoDs, there's something much more general wrong with your system.
  23. Yes, I know, that's what I said. In response to
  24. Just check the file names? It's 1.2.1.5970, so the first one.
