Setting the afterburner threshold

That's what I thought. -
Setting the afterburner threshold
Corrigan replied to Crescendo's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'm speaking now both of the in-game aircraft and the real one. Then how come the nozzle changes shape depending on power setting while in AB? And what is it that doesn't increase, a power gauge in the cockpit? Thanks -
Setting the afterburner threshold
Corrigan replied to Crescendo's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Oh, so there are no degrees of power in burner, only full-on? Once you go burner that's 100% of the available power? -
A10C actions on P51D page
Corrigan replied to bluepilot76's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
If you rename or temporarily move the DCS folder in user/saved games, the game will create a new one upon startup. This is where the saved control mappings are stored, so everything should reset.- 1 reply

However, it should be noted perhaps that the Vulcan on the F-15C, for example, has no impact sounds either. I'm pretty sure this extends to most, if not all, cannons in the game. I dunno if this is intentional, or if it's all to be fixed.

Noob question-Whats the point of DCS World?
Corrigan replied to Two-Six's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
DCS World is a common environment into which all previous stand-alone games are now plugged in as modules. You install World, and then on top of that any module you have purchased. You want DCS World because the standalones aren't being updated any more, and because you have all your sims in one place. Also, you can fly with your buddies in different aircraft in multiplayer. The Game mode is what it sounds like. A watered-down version of the physics and avionics for people who are scared by realism :p Don't worry about it. You switch between the two in the options menu. If you don't plan on playing Game mode, you don't need to set up your controls for it. Axes need to be set only once per aircraft. -
Well, in that case I look forward to the next patch :)

Thanks for the reply Matt. That's odd -- I haven't heard any GAU-8 impacts (or indeed other cannon impact sounds) for several versions, as detailed in these threads: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89067 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95168 Regarding the report placement: As FC3 shares environment with all the other DCS stuff, I suppose this bug is relevant to both. As I saw the blue smoke bug (which applies to all DCS stuff) on this list, I decided to post here.

Oh, I see. Then all is well, thanks for the time.
-
Huh. Well, I'm stumped. I'll look at the track again.
-
Yeah, it dies for me too, but the first 4-5 missiles miss in a very strange way. Does it die straight away for you?
-
It definitely looks like a bug; the missile is close, but then at the last second just goes flying past without reacting.
-
That would be lovely.
-
Which missile plumes, if any, can't the MWS detect?
-
So, how about this? ED, any news or at least acknowledgement? Also, it seems to me that all cannon impact sounds are broken, even from vehicle-mounted ones.
-
No-one knows? Thanks to the unknown mod who changed the title.

Issues already and a new guy needs some guidance
Corrigan replied to waistcat's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Not necessarily the same one. There are lots of common mistakes that can prevent the engines from starting, like not waiting for them to spool up, missing switches etc. Even after hundreds of hours in the Hog I get it wrong sometimes. -

Corrigan replied to waistcat's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
That's not too odd: he probably has HOTAS sync on, so that the switch positions on the Warthog are mimicked by the software when he enters the cockpit. If that's it, the ENG OPER switches on the physical HOTAS need to be switched too :) -

You need to make sure all the control axes are mapped properly. By default it's a complete mess; rudder to throttles etc. Check your options. -
SU25-T - Flight is worse in Cold Air than Hot air

^ No, not to my knowledge. -

How is it bugged? -
I will mirror this sentiment.

Attached is a track where an Excellent-AI Tunguska is allowed to fire SAMs at an approaching UH-60. The heli is spawned just outside max engagement range for the SAMs. The first 5 (!) missiles miss. The chopper deploys no countermeasures and takes no evasive action. Shouldn't this be an easy target? I know the missile guidance is due an overhaul -- is this something that will address? Easy target.trk

I know this thread is about AAMs, but is the SAM physics out of whack too? I was just playing about with an ('excellent') AI Tunguska, letting it fire at Blackhawks at very close range, say 1 km. It missed, much more than it hit. Should this be the case? I know I'm not being very specific, I can upload a track if needed. Just want to know, should a slow-flying chopper at 1000 m be an easy target for a modern SAM? EDIT: It may have been a bit longer range than 1 km, but no more than 10 km. In any case, the SAMs went flying past the choppers, only to start turning after they missed.

The odd LOD thread! Report LOD inconsistencies here.

Looking at the Shilka model, zsu-23-4.edm now. The muzzle flair seems to be argument #23. At 3000 meters viewing distance, it switches to using the textures flame_f13 and flame_f14 for the muzzle flash. These are the huge ones. Does anyone know where these textures are contained? Thanks.
