not really. it turned out to be less than what it was believed to be, but that doesn't make it underwhelming. not to the f-18 shot down by it, at least.

I once actually did a cobra out of pure boredom, and shots passed in front of me, where I would have been if I didn't, fired by a guy at my 3, that I didn't even know was there :D

Put aircraft aside for a moment. Anyone ever needed to call some emergency services over the phone? Like police, or firefighters. I'll tell you, I use the phone every day, but the first time I needed to call the fire brigade for real - I couldn't do it. It's not that I was scared, I wasn't in any danger, and it was a small fire on a nearby roof, but I just couldn't dial the right number. I ended up trying three times, always pushing the wrong buttons, and trying again from the beginning, becouse I couln't rembember, at that moment, where the button that deletes just the last digit was! And the thing is, you never know it it would happen to you, until you experience it! Overshooting the numbers? Hell, you'de be lucky if you remamber to bring the landing gear down ;)

What was the first MiG-21 version to have a full blown HUD, and not just the targeting sight like we have in Su-25? I've been told that 21bis does have a HUD, but I could never find an image of it.

It's not like it's fotorealistic, or even close, but I'll give it a try. Maybe it looks better when you actually fly with it, but I'm not so impressed. The flat 3D-wannabe textures are the biggest let-downs for me.

Inspired by the " If you mastered DCS A-10C, could you hop into the real thing, run it up, and fly it?" topic, where someone mentioned that you wouldn't know how to open the canopy from outside, and such, could you add "outside the aircraft" as a starting point? :) We could do a walkaround, admire the modeling, check if something leaks, and then climb in hehe

I think that the (low) antenna count is a clue. Like ALR69, SPO-15 has two antennas in front, and two in the back. But in addition to those it has one more on the top, and one on the bottom, to determine elevation. ALR69 (per that document) does not have those. BUT... then you look at the antenna placement. The rear two are at different position vertically. On F-16, there is one in the root of the rudder, and one on top. The reason for this could be to enable the phase difference to be used to calculate elevation. :juggle:

or... join the TS on the other side, and ask for assistance on the other side of the map... or the world :D
