that didn't stop Falcon 3.0 from selling 1 Million Copies before Falcon 4.0 was announced. in 1997 I had and built my own PC as a 14 yr old with money made from mowing lawns in 1 summer. There were computer part stores galore in 1997, and the most expensive part I bought was my $130 3Dfx Voodoo 3 Card in 1999, Followed by Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 at 199.99.

in your \Saved Games\DCS.<branch>\Config\ Folder, If you Backed up the default options.lua it would be there, as options_MMDDYYYY_HHMMSS.lua, just rename it back to options.lua For the Presets they would be in the \Presets\Preset01-04-VR Sub Folders Folders I May put a Recover/Restore Option once the entire preset editor is completed and mostly debugged.

Falcon 3.0 was technically modular and released 2 aircraft after the Falcon.

I still think there was more available in the 90s., I was going to mention that the Simulation Market may be a bit more accessible today, But seeing how many users have trouble getting stable performance in DCS most of the time, it's likely about the same as trying to find the right boot disk combo to run Falcon 4 w/ AWE32 and Joystick Drivers without losing all your HiMem. Titles wise, DCS Teeeechnically counts as 1 title, w/ several products... In the 90s we had at least 3 dozen different titles spread out from a dozen or so developers, (Jane's/EA, Novalogic, Microprose, MPS Labs, Dynamics, Eagle Dynamics, Spectrum Holobyte, Atari, Looking Glass, Eidos, Empire, Sublogic, Sega, Taito) Janes had a Dozen+ Titles alone, Spanning WWII to Modern, Sim Lite to Study Light, Fixed Wing, Rotary Wing USNF/MF/USNF97, ATF/NATO/ATF Gold (Eventually Fighters Anthology), Longbow I / II / Gold (Eventually Longbow Anthology), WWII Fighters, USAF, IAF, F-15, F/A-18

WT Doesnt really fit in the Sim Market, there's completely fictional and unrealistic aspects added to aircraft just for MP Balancing. if I was to include WT, I'd have to include OverG, Ace Combat, and a bunch of other arcade 3rd person aircraft shooters.. 75% of the high end hardware for Flight Simmers is designed to be used with DCS and IL2.

The Sheer amount of Light Sim and Full Fidelity sims available in the 90s, and if you extrapolate it to 2020 by growth, would eclipse even DCS's library. Outside of DCS and Falcon 4, is there any other Study/Study Light Public Consumer License Combat Flight Sims? (I'll also Include IL2). Please dont mention anything based of Microsoft ESP. Theres nothing else, in the 90s you had dozens of developers producing quality sims. in 2020 you have ED holding the Genre afloat with BMS providing the only direct partial comparitive competition. Outside of Partial Portz of Microsoft ESP via Lockheed, theres nothing else FSX/2020/2024 Simply isnt a combat sim, and the systems / flight models on even some of the pro grade aircraft are seriously lacking in depth.

Well .34 Likely Reset the SG Path back to Not Configured, so you prolly just had to reselect it after updating., As log is showing that it's not configured or path was invalid, which is why it wasn't loading it, and showing as "Not Configured" as that was the Value the App Saved when it was previously closed. if Set as "Not Configured" it automatically skipped checking that slot's path. I tested on my end by clearing values, if auto path setting failed, then the app pulled from the saved user path as expected. The issue here is abnormal (as in not frequently encounted) install management: The ONLY time the app should have to pull from a saved user path is if your running a build other than release/openbeta/openalpha, (ie Preview builds for press , tester builds etc). Or if you specifically converted your install from stable branch to openbeta or vise versa, as the dcs_variant file wouldnt be generated, and DCS would continue to use the SG Path it was using before the branch change. then as soon as you closed the app the user saved path was saved to the settings file as "Not Configured" which is what it loaded after updating. 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SETTING | OpenBeta 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | LOAD | Loading Sim Slot #1 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | LOAD | Sim Slot #1 Loaded 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | LOAD | Loading Saved Games Slot #1 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SKIPPING | Skipping Saved Games Slot #1, Paths Empty or Invalid 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | Detecting Build Slot #1 Platform 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | DCS World Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | Detecting Build Slot #1 Updater Platform 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | DCS Updater Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | Detecting Build Slot #1 ModelViewer Platform 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | ED ModelViewer 2.0 Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | Scanning Build Slot #1 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | OpenBeta ED Sim Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | OpenBeta Version Number: 2.8.7.42583 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | OpenBeta Open Beta Branch 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | OpenBeta ED Updater Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:24 | SCAN | OpenBeta ED ModelViewer Detected 07.26.2023 | 05:50:29 | SCAN | OpenBeta Variant Path File Not Found 07.26.2023 | 05:50:29 | SCAN | OpenBeta Auto-Setting Default User Profile Path in .35, Once it Scans the Build, and gathers version, branch etc: Function 1: Scans for dcs_variant.txt and generates path from it's contents, then checks to see if path exists, if path does not exist moves to function 2, if path exists sets path as Slot1 Profile Path Function 2: Checks the Branch (Release / Stable or Open Beta) and generates a path based on the default install paths then checks if the path exists, if not function 3. if path exists sets path as Slot1 Profile Path Function 3: Pulls the Saved Path from Settings, and Checks to see if path exists, if not, Sets Slot1 Profile path as "Not Configured", if path exists sets path as Slot1 Profile Path .34 had a Mislink that ran Function 1, Immediately followed by Function 2 regardless of outcome of if DirectoryExists, causing the app to mark the Slot SG Path as "Not Configured" unless they used the dcs_variant file and/or was an non public build w/ a dcs_variant.txt file, Function 3 didn't exist, because in my blinded moment of a perfect world, didn't think there would be such scenarios. currently you have to download every new version, once the app is stabilized ( a lot of new things, new hardware sets, new bugs etc), the updates will be less frequent, once I resolve webhost issues I'll re-integrate auto update functions.

I'd Define the Golden Age, As the Late 1990s, Early 2000's When I Could walk into either Babbages, Or EB Games (Yes they were separate at the time). And Both would have a Section of the Wall dedicated to flight sims (Jane's Combat Simulator Mainly), and HOTAS Stacked on the Floor next to the wall.

Development time to Sync Cockpit controls and systems as well as the Graphical Assets, would hardly be worth the revenue it would generate. F/A-18Ds in the USMC were missionized w/ Dual Hand controllers, and no Flight controls. F/A-18Ds in the USN Remained Tandem Linked Cockpits w/ Dual Flight Controls. F/A-18Ds in the USN were retired and Given to the UMSC to aid in their fleet readiness problems, and converted to their standard.

7.25.2023 - General Logging Changes to Better track Directory Issues - Fixed Duplicate Functions for DCS_Variant and User Folder at the same level, causing Mis-linked or Not Set SG Paths - Changed SG Path Order, Now Checks DCS_Variant, Then Branch, Then User Set Path, Then Not Configured if All Return Directory Not Found.

Were any of these builds converted? that seems to be the unforeseen issue I need to add a work around for, if you converted from one to another, DCS continues to use the existing SG Path, but the Sim Scan function sets it based on the branch name if the DCS_Variant TXT file is not present. I will likely add a 3rd exception if the path is not found to re-try the user set path. .34 completely ignores the user set paths currently, which is why .33 works. I believe in your case it's Seeing the dcs_variant file and having issues with the "." or the "_", I'll have to test those characters on my end.,

it's stating it's finding one, I'll have to double check the logging, they maybe a false found line. DCS.openbeta branch converted from stable is prolly the mis-connect, as it's seeing branch as openbeta in the builds cfg file, I may have to add an extra work around Easiest fix is to rename SG Folder from \DCS\ to \DCS.openbeta\

Can you attach the dcs_variant.txt from \DCS\ Folder
-
Thanks, may have been a mis-link in tooltip database Also what's your DPI Settings as the text on several items appears to be bigger than they are supposed to be. Can You Attach log file? I may need to put more vars in the compare routine, as it maybe reporting those values changed because their weren't loaded at all. Aspect Ratio may change as the decimal that it's calculated to has changed.

DCS Doesn't model bridle logistics, so it would just be down to animation sake. Have the aircraft spawn the bridle and attach it, and then as soon as it's clear of the deck, have it despawn. Problem solved.

SERVER Process Button is for the Dedicated Server App. You can still run regular DCS as Dedicated Server using the Dedicated Server Button, and Giving it a separate SG Path. Set the Dedicated Server options, and enable Customer Write folder, enter the Write Folder Name (ie DEDICATEDSERV). Click Launch Dedicated Server Mode. SteamVR should be auto detected by the app. Should be in Program Files (or Program Files(x86)) "\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\bin\win64\vrmonitor.exe"

Pulling that breaker should send the taskkill dcs and then dcs_updater uninstall heatblur_F14 command.

Stories like this really shouldn't have even happened. I get it, they are flying on vapors, but trying to ram the refueling probe through the cover, that cover could have broke off and gone into an intake, sparked and ignited jet fuel, the list goes on. The proper thing to do in that procedure would have been to Fly to a safe mark and ditch the aircraft. As for Locks, Both he Boom and the Drogue system have Clamps that engage when the connection is made The NATO boom, when inserted, extrudes 2 clamps from the nozzle head to hold it into the refueling receptacle. The USN Drogue, when Probe is pushed in, auto engages clamps. There have been incident reports of NATO Boom tankers "Towing" Aircraft by hooking up and locking the boom.
