solved DCS.exe not staying high priority
SkateZilla replied to SickSidewinder9's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Windows will re-assign processes priority automatically if it interferes with normal operation. Seeing as at normal, DCS will seem like it almost locked up, and windows will ask if you want to kill the process, its likely windows is seeing a High priority process locking resources and boots it back to normal to allow other system processes to run correctly. bumping Processes above Normal isn't really recommended as they can cause other processes to stop responding as it locks resources. Apps can also temporarily control their own Process Priority (ie WinRAR, moves the process priority up to allow faster compression/extraction). -

Once Upon a Time, yes. But not since Oct 2020. -

I couldnt tell you why it was moved, as it wasnt moved by me, and couldnt be moved by me. -

Mavericks were part of the A-10A/C Loadout from Day 1, For F-16's A2G as a whole was an After thought. It also depends on the Type Of Maverick being fielded. -
Best case buy a new 750w PSU, and if it doesnt solve the mainboard hard crashing take it back.
-
Here's the Rub, How old is your PSU, (if you can supply the model# as well). As PSU's age, their ability to convert and supply power diminishes, PSU's degrade quicker w/ cheaper components (ie off brand, 80+ bronze and lower). So what was 750 watts 8 years ago, after general everyday use and wear on a cheaper PSU, is prolly 675watts now, and the rails would be really sensitive to spikes. Even with your current config, you shouldn't be pulling more than ~550watts. Another thing you'll have to look at is mainboard age, you just slammed a 16 Lane PCIe4 Card in a mainboard that's prolly PCIe 2.0, 3.0 depending on age.

Run a a Hardware Monitor App and have it overlay on your screen. nVidia/AMD's Drivers do this natively already.

you need to log temps and power draw. what you're experiencing is a hardware reset at the bios level.

Winkey + R, "Eventvwr.exe" Under Logs, System, Look for Hardware Errors. I guarantee you, that the GPU is Overheating or there's a Power Problem. As I've told others, Stress Testing a GPU doesnt really prove anything, because it stresses only the GPU, that's the only heat source, and the only power draw. Playing DCS Taxes the GPU, CPU, RAM and Disk Drives. Now, Stress test that GPU, while Running a CPU and Memory Stress Test, and see if your system remains stable.

Mirrors On is a 3D Viewport Rendered onto the mesh. Mirrors Off is just PBR Materials. If Someone wanted to, they can re-paint the mirror textures to make it look like they have a mirror cover over them. I Personally fly with the default off, as it looks realistic and connects to the environment in VR, the only time I turn them on is in a dogfight.

Meta Cancels Quest Pro along with work on Quest Pro 2.

Great so the only overly priced HMD is the Apple one.. boooooo -
They are likely working on the systems behind the scenes, but they are also replacing the S-3 Model, and Likely the S-3R and Systems associated with it.

The issue with DCS and Mod managers, is there's half a dozen different types of mods. You got Independent Saved Games mods, shader modification mods, total texture replacement mods, mods that merge w/ Core Modules, mods that overwrite core modules, mods that merge with other mods and core modules. there's literally no standard, because some mods, cannot be put in the /SG folder due to running off embedded and protected DLLs. etc etc. Which was one major issue I was having with creating my own, which is why in early dev shots there was a mod manager, but it was removed before the public launch of the new app.

My comment on DCS not being Starfield means that. DCS World's GFX Engine was Designed before TAA and Motion Vectors, Starfield's was designed from the bottom up over the last 2 years and Supports TAA and Motion Vector's natively. So Enabling DLSS for Starfield, is a matter of enabling something that already has the code in place to function. DCS World's DirectX11 Engine Predates TAA and Motion Vector's, and VR for that matter. Which is why it always seems like ED is Chasing an invisible barrier when it comes to features/support. Because they are, DirectX 11 was already horribly known to still have high CPU Overhead on draw calls, but a significant improvement over DirectX9C. Users Forget, EDGE is already been Released for 8 Years and was in development for at least 8 before that. Once the more modern Vulkan Engine is completed, it will have more things integrated at a core level making add-on features more easily developed.. ps but as far as DLSS being a deciding factor on if 3000 new users can run DCS with it, vs without it, is extremely farfetched, DLSS is not a magic FPS, Make a game that was unplayable on the RTX Potato Rig, Playable Pill. If they cant run DCS without DLSS, then they arent gonna run it with DLSS, DLSS was Designed more to give 1440p, 4K 5K+ Users the ability to render games at lower resolutions and upsample, because rendering at 1080p/1440p provides enough pixels and motion vectors to upscale to a cleaner image, TV Scalar Processors in Samsung and LG TV's have been doing it for a decade. DLSS on a 1080P Screen wont do diddly but give you a blurred mess, as your rendering less than 720P and Upsampling it w/ 1/4 of the Pixels and Motion vector data you would normally need. You remember what your 640x480i cable looked like on that new 1080p screen right... lol. pps.. the DLSS Interface and References are already in the Starfield Build I had a Week ago, so the dev isn't adding something in a matter of days, it was already in the engine, it was just disabled.

noted Radar 3D model inside the nose is physically impossible
SkateZilla replied to andyn's topic in Wish List
I believe he's correct, the model appears to model the radar as it was pulled out for maintenance. that's the maintenance position. the right black line, needs to be flush with the nose cone seam. the left black line is the array that moves, needs to be where the right black line is, and a little bit bigger. -
If RB Lists which texture holds the Transparency Layer for the MFDs I can modify them, But I currently don't have the time to go through all the T files one by one to look for the MFDs

There's nothing I can do on my end, Microsoft states it's not recommended to use the Custom Scaling to Force the DPI Override, The DPI Override option in windows overrides all DPI Settings, which is why MS Put the Warning on that screen, there's no way to keep it from changing the app. The General Scaling and Text Scaling Options use DPIAware Infastructure. The same warning is present in Windows 10
-
Ok I Was finally able to re-produce this on my end w/ my 4K display, The General Windows Scaling and Text Scaling in Windows 11 had no effect, However, the Custom Scaling in Windows 10 / Windows 11 did cause the same effect you are experiencing. Working w/ MS, so far, they state there's no way to over-ride that DPI Setting which is why it's a not recommended / advanced feature in windows 10/11. As I have tried making DpiAware false in my manifest as well as app settings key to disable HighDPI Option. I set scaling back to 100 in the text box, logged out of windows and back in and the app was fine again.
