  1. In short: a HUD has an infinite focus distance. This is required to omit the parallax effect which is required for mark points on the HUD to have a 1:1 relation with whatever is placed beyond the HUD on the surface or in the air. Put more simply: if you don't implement this, you wouldn't be able to rely on things like the pipper, FPM, targetting boxes, etc. Downside is you can move your head to or from the HUD as much as you like, since the focus lies at an infinite point, the symbols and text will never change size. You can very easily verify my explanation by moving (shifting) your head to the left or to the right. While you do so, watch the HUD shifting from your point of view while in reality it is not moving at all. Now draw a spot on a window with a marker and place that spot perfectly in line with a random object on the other side of the window. The moment you move your head, the spot is not in line with that object anymore. This is exactly the thing you want to prevent in the case of the HUD.
  2. Leaning would be the realistic way of 'zooming'. However, since you're not in a real pit but in front of a 2D screen, zooming is a more useful alternative sometimes. E.g. when you're having trouble reading the HUD to put the thing on the thing, zooming helps. In a real jet a medically fit pilot wouldn't have any trouble reading the HUD (at least that's my personal experience in a 737).
  3. Same here. (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2240334&postcount=13)
  4. Works now... Whole story with all the 'resets' using the registrey entires cost me 3 activations on the 10C though.
  5. Done. Guess this is where the 5 working days timer starts...
  6. Upon starting an A10 mission the pop up asks for the key after which it says automatic activitaion failed. I then click the "other" hyperlink which shows the key I entered in the previous window + a hardware code (which is obviously different than the one on the previous rig). I click the link to the Star Forge website where I enter the key and the hardware code again, only to recieve a red error box with no message in it.
  7. It doesn't let me activate the module on the new rig anyway.. Regardless whether I could've touched the old one or not..
  8. It seems though that somebody at least took the effort to move this topic, would that same person also be so kind to provide a solution?
  9. I can't because I took the SSD out, formatted it, and put it in the new rig. I didn't think getting a game to run in 2014 would be such a hassle tbh... Can't I just login somewhere and then deregister all known hardware from my serial numbers?
  10. I just got my new rig up and running and guess what.. Well, topic title says all. Can somebody guide me step by step through the process? I want to deactivate all modules on my old machine (to which I don't have access anymore so please don't ask me to do anything on it) and reactivate them on the new one. Currently -on the new one- it doesn't let me deactivate, nor reactivate..
  11. DCS A-10C QUESTIONS Depends on the dive angle. Reaching or exceeding the MRC / MRS is a function of how fast you are flying towards the ground. Which in turn is a function of your speed and dive angle. If this is not the answer you are looking for than I would like you to clarify your question further. EDIT: Draw the bombing triangle, you'll probably see it.
  12. AFAIK you can't set up modifiers in MS' utility. You need to do that in the game, provided it supports that.

Good luck with it!
  14. Ed Macy shit bricks when all of a sudden the alarms went off and Betty advised to pop flares... Few seconds later it seemed the MWS confused an overflying B-1's exhaust for a missile.
  15. DCS A-10C QUESTIONS http://www.baesystems.com/product/BAES_019813/cmws/?_afrLoop=288316818510000&_afrWindowMode=0&_afrWindowId=null#!%40%40%3F_afrWindowId%3Dnull%26_afrLoop%3D288316818510000%26_afrWindowMode%3D0%26_adf.ctrl-state%3D8m1i0ru25_4 Not saying this systems is the A10 one's but it's proof there are systems against IR missiles.
  16. From the screenies these look much better than vanilla city blocks. Do we have an estimate on FPS hit?
  17. As you probably know since you seem to have an interest in the subject, real life ECM systems are much more complex as the functioning which you attempt to simulate using the method quoted. So I am wondering how your are going to implement proper ECM capabilities for every aircraft which is equipped with such systems and the effects there of in the first place? Because ED either can't, won't, or isn't allowed to do it.
  18. Galevsky, I've downloaded the beta test version but to be honest, I find it rather confusing.. Compare it to what can be considered as the competition: JSGME, I have no clue where to start. Where do I put all my mods? Where do I set the root dir for DCS World?
  19. Move to where I live. 180Mbps for 30 bucks a month. Net effective data troughput 21.5MB/s, I'd say that's damn clean and lean connection!
  20. Yes it might come sooner or later, but that still doesn't mean that for SP the sim will run a server instance and a player instance combined. Generally only games running off a Quake, Unreal, etc. engine do that where their SP game mode is basically a server with 1 local client and the rest will be bots.
  21. It is not said that DCS 2.0 will use a server-client setup for single player missions, not interface-wise, and not in the background either.
  22. Regarding the server question, let's say you travel from Dusseldorf to Berlin and you take your 300lb mother in law with you. Whether you put her next to you in the car or in the trunk, you still have to carry her weight. What I'm saying is, if playing + running a server in one client on one machine gives you FPS drops, playing on one client and running a server on the other yet still on the same rig will get you the same FPS drops (give or take a few). You actually already concluded that since the FPS drop is gone if you run the server locally on a different machine. At least, that's what I understand from you.
  23. See my sig for a (simplified) overview of the functions.
  24. The external model is probably what you could've expected of the 18C module if it were released in DCS sub 2.0 tho.
