  1. Buzz the tower and have a blast with the cannon! :pilotfly:
  2. Ok, thanks. It's just odd, because it works in 2.0.
  3. It would be equally disorientating to smack your face into the canopy :megalol:. However, I still don't really want to put limits on, just don't stick your head through the glass.
  4. Hi all, I'm not sure if this has been reported, but I can not use the F-10 view while using OR, it is fine with he monitor, but all I get with OR is a grey screen with the symbols showing, but no map (or other view). I'm sure this will be a known bug, but I wondered whether there was a likely fix due as it has become a bit more important to me since purchasing Combined Arms. Thanks, Tom
  5. It would only be like developers releasing a demo, but then at the same time they have already kind of done that by including two free aircraft in DCS World. I've just had a few people put off by all of the switches and finding it a bit intimidating (at first). Coming from something like IL2 to this is quite a jump for some people. Once they get into it they tend to love it, but it's helping them to get into it that can be the first step. I appreciate the interest in the idea though. It's a shame that the L-39C isn't a free aircraft in place of one of the others, but I can see why it isn't.
  6. Brilliant! I'd been searching for this since the F-5 was released!
  7. I get a crash practically every time I have run a multiplayer session, never when I've only been in single-player. How do I get the log?
  8. You can see the switches being switched, you can see the order. The Instructor (in whatever seat) can tell them where to look and follow through, like in the L-39. Ok, it doesn't, physically, move your stick or press any buttons on your HOTAS, that's up to the player to set up. What has put some people off, in my experience so far, is the amount that they need to set up and they don't know where to start. They don't know what the controls relate to or whether or not they need them. I have put together a spreadsheet of the different modules that I have with all of my controls listed. I have sat with people, on TS, and gone through their controls so that they can get going. Sometimes it's good to be able to show them though and short of going to visit, taking my PC and gear with me, that's not possible. It would be good to have a way to be able to do this, if wanted, with a module that they do not have to buy. It won't be up everyone's street, but it may well work for some people. That was the original thinking behind my post. The flying part is easy, most people can manage that, it's the start up and engine management that people appreciate being showed - knowing which dials to look at, and when. Knowing which levers to move, how far and when etc.
  9. That sounds like an interesting idea :)
  10. I think it's really time to leave this now. It doesn't need an upgrade, certainly not from the developers. You're asking for a mod, that's fine, but the developers make the aircraft as they were/are not how we wish they were/are. That's a job for modders to do in their spare time. The F-5E that we have carried 2 Sidewinders, no more. It's all that the aircraft is configured to carry. Live with it, learn to use it, and make the most of it.
  11. I hadn't realised that they were not dual control, I thought some might have been converted to that. If that is the case then it would not be worthwhile at all. Thanks for the info :)
  12. It's not just me that sees this then!
  13. With all due respect, that is what we do and it can work. However, for some people with langauge barriers trying to explain which knob/switch to press can be a challenge. Having duplicated controls would elminate that. Now they can use auto-start, but some people do not want to do that or do not find that to be the best way for them to learn. I would appreciate that as a kind of conversion trainer. I'm happy to learn by myself and have done with each module so far, but not everyone has the time to be able to do that and they can appreciate the additional help. The ability to do this in the L-39 has been excellent, but the cost of the module is quite high as a speculative purchase if someone is not going to continue with the game, and they may not even continue with the aircraft - seeing as it is a trainer. It's not something you have to use, it is a free aircraft and I can see that it would not be a top priority as it is not going to generate immediate revenue, but it could be an interesting and potentially useful addition to a free to play aircraft.
  14. Yeah...how about an upgrade to F-20 specs? Seriously though, I like the F-5 as it is. IFR would be an interesting addition, but this model didn't have it, so just have to land and refuel. I've found the cannon to be excellent, the AIM-9s we know need tweaking but they still get kills. I think it is an excellent addition and a great 3rd Gen fighter for DCS.
  15. Hi all, I wondered whether there was any plan to implement a multi-crew solution into the TF-51 Mustang? It would be great, as an aircraft every player of DCS World has, if it could be used to give people an introduction to the sim with an experienced pilot on board showing them the ropes. I appreciate that there is the L-39, but this requires people to purchase it, which for a new player that is unsure of whether or not they want to persevere with the Sim might be asking a bit much. I know that there are members of my squad that would appreciate this kind of implementation as they are still unsure about DCS, because they're daunted by how much they have to set up and it's a different sim. Each time we have introduced someone though they've really liked it. I just think this could assist in that and increase the take up of the sim :) I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this, Thanks, Tom
  16. I'm so used to flying in Cliffs of Dover that I much prefer the fixed sight. Using both can give some indication of lead but I certainly don't use the gyro alone as it's never accurate.

    F-5E Review

It was advertised as a 'quick review'. There are plenty of detailed ones out there...recommendation still stands though :) It is one of my favourite aircraft in DCS already. (Plus I wrote it while at work and I should've been working on a report that's not so short!)

    F-5E Review

Hi all, I've just written a quick review of the F-5E Feel free to leave comments :)
  19. Hi all, I'm running the latest version of DCS World and it seems I can start a mission with clouds, and the others in the server have clouds, but they then disappear. Others still have clouds, and some do not. Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem in the version? Thanks, Tom
  20. I've had no issues, pixel density at 1.5, if I struggled with anything I just leant closer to it...
  21. I've had the problem a couple of times recently, but not every time. I do roll forward before going to full power. I can be halfway down the runway when it suddenly pulls off to the left. I've found that if I don't use the afterburner then it stays straight, but because it doesn't do it every time it could just that it was one of those times when it decides to go straight anyway! It's an irritant, but the Mirage is still my favourite DCS aircraft.

    Thank you for delivering! :pilotfly:

    DCS: F-5E!

Thanks! Well, there's the Spitfire - that's a must buy! The F-14...damn, going to miss that one. The F/A18...I'm going to stop now as people will wonder why I am crying at my desk! Maybe I could put them up for adoption! :megalol: (Of course there is the F-5 which I have on pre-purchase!)

    DCS: F-5E!

I'll hold you to that then! ;) It was no joke about the twins, though! What's very distressing is that there are so many modules coming up that I want to get...but won't be able to!

    DCS: F-5E!

My wife and I are expecting twins in the next month...please release the F-5 soon so I can have a go before they arrive...otherwise who knows when I will get to have a go! :noexpression:
