  1. The Spitfire Mk I/II: Developed purely as an interceptor After that their primary focus is still on intercepting aircraft but in different scenarios. They developed to counter different threats and to operate in different conditions. So there are LF variants with engines tuned to give their best performance at low levels, there are HF variants for higher altitude operations etc etc. To claim that every Spitfire was just an interceptor because the original was is misleading. This is an LF Mk IXc. Low level optimised, a development of the Spitfire Mk V with a more powerful engine to help with parity for the Fw190A. If you're running away in a Bf109K or anf Fw190D you'll get away. If you hang around to turn and burn, you'll likely lose. I'm not sure what the fuss is about.
  2. So, brought the blog back into use after a break due to having twins: Why I am excited about the Spitfire On pre-order :)
  3. Some of the recon models had exceptional ranges, they could easily reach Berlin and further...but doing it with no weapons...that take some bravery!
  4. Pretty comprehensive then! I've fed that back, already had some positive responses :) Really don't want to go over to BoS/M/K. Cliffs of Dover, fine. Otherwise if it's not DCS I'm not interested!
  5. Excellent, thank you!
  6. Hi all, I was wondering if there was a list of planned WW2 aircraft, from the different developers, in a single place? I know that work is meant to be underway on a couple: Spitfire Mk IX Spitfire Mk XIV Meteor F.3 Me262 Vampire Mosquito Is there any more that has been officially mentioned as being planned for development (not just another wish list). I'm asking as my Squad is looking for a future Sim, most of us have DCS but the lack of, current, focus on WW2 is pushing them towards BoS, which I can't stand. I'd like to be able to go back to them and suggest what is planned. They're aware of the Normandy map, they're looking forward to the Spitfire...but as with most people they are hungry for more! I'd just like to be able to go back to them with some new of plans - knowing full well they could take years before they're ready! Thanks in advance, Tom
  7. Chinook all the way.

This. Would want to have RADAR systems etc to make for a co-ordinated mission experience.
  9. I sincerely hope that CA will be brought up to date with the Normandy map. It would make for some fantastic scenarios and missions, both on and offline. I appreciate that it will need a whole load of new models, but some mobile AAA, couple of US, British and German tanks and Robert's your mother's brother! (Is it that simple? :music_whistling:) I'm really looking forward to the Normandy add on, and all the opportunities it could bring. I think it could well bring our squad into DCS a lot more seeing as more and more of them are buying OR and getting into the modules. It really does suit our interests if it is developed more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  10. +1
  11. I'd been using the mini-joystick on the CH Pro Throttle as well as the top hat switch for the finer movements. It seemed to work well. Then I was informed you could use your main stick when you were in seat 2! I had no idea! I've been flying multi-crew and it's made a big difference, but maybe a really simple joystick, made for either hand, would be a good replacement/addition?
  12. The mission has been redone. The mission has two SA342M's. We were flying together in one without a problem. However, when we went to two separate aircraft we could not switch to seat 2 (in our individual aircraft). The mission also has two SA432L's in. So, we switched to them and had no problem with switching seats. We went back to the SA432M and still could not switch. We could join the same aircraft and have one player in each seat. Interesting, but I do not know if that will be replicated. Still, have to say we really enjoyed the teamwork and the flying. It makes a massive difference to what was an already excellent module.
  13. We tried again this evening. With me in the co-pilot seat the slave button would not work - so problem solved then. However, when the pilot pressed slave later on and the auto-pilot got knocked off after we hit the collective a bit hard, then it ripped the boom off. Otherwise it was fine. Still had a couple of other problems though, I'll post them in their own thread though.
  14. Interesting, we had it happen each time I, as host, tried to launch in a fresh aircraft Windows 10 flashed up to say DCS was not responding. My friend was unable to join me when I was in seat 1. It could have just been something with the mission. We still really enjoyed it and hope to see it progress as it added a new dimension to the Gazelle.
  15. Interesting, we stopped doing it after the third death (we thought we'd been shot by tanks for the first two occasions). The third time was nowhere near any ground targets we were just testing different systems. We'll have to try it again and see what happens. Not sure why it killed the pilot either.
  16. Description: Changing from seat 2 in multi-crew to my own aircraft crashes the game. DCS Version: Latest stable release Steam: Non-Steam Version Map: Georgia Map SP/MP: Multi-player in multi-crew Reproducible: This happened each time I tried to create a separate aircraft Step to Reproduce: Have two players in multi-crew, get the player in seat 2 to ‘select role’ and create a new aircraft. The game then crashes for that player. Screenshot/Video available: Sorry, no. Track Available: Afraid not. Mission File: How do I attach the files to the forum? 17. Description: Pressing the slave button from the second seat kills the pilot and rips off the tail in multi-crew. DCS Version: Latest stable release Steam: Non-Steam Version Map: Georgia Map SP/MP: Multi-player in multi-crew Reproducible: This happened each time the slave button was pressed from seat 2. Step to Reproduce: Have two players in multi-crew, line the camera up on a target and then press the slave button. Pilot will die and the tail splits off below the exhaust, aircraft spins down out of control. Happened three times in a row. Screenshot/Video available: Sorry, no. Track Available: Afraid not. 18. Hi all, I've just tried out Multi-crew for the first time. Love it. However, there were some flaws: Pressing slave as the weapons officer kills the pilot, breaks off the tail and causes the helicopter to crash. While I, as the host, could join another helicopter my friend couldn't join my aircraft. It crashed the game. After flying as the gunner trying to switch to an aircraft of my own crashed my game back to Windows. Had that too. We found it to be a very enjoyable experience and can see some real potential in it on multiplayer servers. We'll definitely be doing it again, and look forward to any of the bugs being ironed out.
  19. Basically you want the map from Cliffs of Dover...
  20. I'd like to know why the tooltips had to change, they were fine before, but the writing could've been a bit clearer. The grey box really hits Frame Rates and the fact that you can't switch them off in MP servers does hit the enjoyment factor somewhat as it really can make it go judder - especially in the Gazelle, plus they just get in the way.
  21. Fair enough. I suppose it is the problem with something like this that there is so much scope...where do you start? :)
  22. Do bears do their stuff in the woods?
  23. Hi all, I was just wondering, I know we have many many many wishlists, but is there a process by which future modules are decided or is it down to the third party developers? What would be nice is if there was a list of planned aircraft/projects for DCS with links to blogs detailing progress each time a new one is started. This may end the seemingly endless speculation on the forums, while still giving people a chance to post comments. There is no single aircraft that I want more than any other at the moment - my list is too long and I have too many to learn already - but I am interested in how the process works.
  24. In theory, then, it could be fitted to the F-86...bring it on! Haha!
