Its absolutly nonsense to dogde missiles head-on by snaking if they are shot with high Pk. Just the fact, that some fancy arcade "moves" do work in lockon is not the basis to believe those "methods" are proper ways and understanding of BVR, furthermore its a reason why 2.0 will try to fix that. There are only 4 cases in which i would consider snaking noteworthy. 1. tactical formation reasons 2. very far long shots, and then not to dodge them but just to bleed the missile-energy early and even that is questionable as wise tactic considering there are smarter more logic ways. 3. A really close almost Rmin head-on shot with high target closure where the missile has not reached max-speed and even then it would be morelikely a break-break and not snaking. 4. If you "run out" a rear aspect tracking missile with closure on you (post 104). (5.) Case 5 is hypothetical: if bandit is really close rear aspect and is about to fire....then this can help to make the missile overshoot. It helps to divide the engagement range related to altitude of course in 3 zones. Far, Med and Close. Eeach of those zones require different ways to fight a missile, considering you havent screwed up your options to do so. In all my 1v1 BVR fights, either someone made a stuipid mistake and got hit, or many missiles were poofed just to set up the fight and enter the no escape zone with advantage and shoot the one first, which cant be dodged anymore. And then of course you are already cold if you see the bandit turning into smoke.

I really like that line "But remember, slow is smooth and smooth is fast" ...sounds hor## :D Snaking Aim-54 case-study vid: www.as-private.com/DiffStuff/snake-aim54.wmv of course "snaking" is no all-weather-weapon ...but in certain cases it makes sense.

ah ok, a world full of misunderstandings....:D

I suggest reading "How to live & die in the virtual sky" by Dan "Crash" Crenshaw 1. Detection 2. Sorting 3. Targeting 4. Intercept 5. Engage 6. Separate etc etc 57 short pages...but good to read and understand. Good presentation of fundamentals.

there is no 100% recipe which you can follow like step 1, 2 and so on ....know your tools....be confident in the circumstances and variables (situation)....and use them with brain. dont think with your weapon . oh, Australia is a awesome place, just a bit to much of australians there (another one) ;)

The last chance dodging is a solution which should be avoided, but yes, to drag a missile out by snaking is excellent....it has in rear-track to overcorrect and bleeds more energy then you. Surely you cant avoid to get shot at, but what you dont wanna provoke is a terminal stage dodge. You wanna fight the missile, before it "fights" you (saying) Closure/aspect, intercept angle (corrections) and drag (missile) are in strong important relations. KNOW YOUR NUMBERS ;) You "play" with those variables or with the missiles so to speak, but not only if you get shot at ..NO! ...even BEFORE it is shot at you. Its a strategic tactical counterplay - BFM - .....unlikely, that moment of surprise is always on your side and your first shot will hit....but one should.....so allow me one of my sayings here: Only ONE missile is needed to kill...but the other ones can be used to set up THAT shot, therefore do it smart. Never forget your escape window, dont screw up your "entry", dictate what will happen and be aware of if it, if it does...trap your bandit in the attempt to kill you rather then getting trapped in the attempt to kill him! The kill is just and only a consequence.

Maybe this is your way, but i dont think, that this is a civilised way here in GERMANY !! But believe me, im already amused about your emotional response..or should i say...your "feeling offended and replying rude" back reason -without reasons- in that post above. Virtual overdosis of testosterone?

@yoda: let your mind sink on that one.....(BVR=BFM) If you understand the basics and principles of BFM ...then apply that to a BVR scenario.... you will see, you are not doing anything different...just aligned execution due to the fact of other values of course.

You are good enough to win the european championship... but with BVR=BFM i meant that exactly how i wrote it ....(think about it) :smilewink:

BVR=BFM=BVR=BFM :smilewink: btw yoda ..i see you also have the "answer to everything" 42 !!! hehe (you know that movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"?)

Analogy: imagine your girlfriend is angry and is throwing with plates at you. 1. you dodge them as they close to your face 2. or you make sure you left that room long before she comes to that stuipid idea? :megalol:

Thx GG. That´s for sure, but i was more thinking of things i do if i see someone coming still full closure "ignoring" the missile shot at him... A early sign of "what kind of" opponent you face. Anything has its answer. Or you just maddog in the middle of that snake and let the missile does the rest ...hahahaha.......viva la loookon That reminds me right here to another issue...the degree and strength the missile corrects its course related to "time to impact" in order to save as much energy as possible for terminal stage, but thats another story.

try that snake thing vs me..and i tell you after that why that wont fly :D

FPS killers are: Haze advanced Visibility range HIGH Scene files HIGH MIRRORS ! find a balance. DCS / ED does model ground objects like buildings in a very strange way (the swollow FPS) unlike Il-2 and its new standarts Ultra-Pack 2.0, where ground textures look by far bettern then in LO and building too. You can fly over entire cities wihtout getting that "uh oh urban-fps-killer stutter" And it has nothing to do with extra avionics in Jets..not at all..its just a question, how you code things....
