  1. Just press F5. If there are more planes near you, keep pressing F5 repeatedly until you are looking towards the plane you wish. If you want to look towards yourself from the enemy plane, first use F2 to cycle between all planes in the mission. When you have the enemy plane selected, just use F5 like before. You can also "padlock" the enemy when in cokpit view by usin NumPad DEL. Use NumLock to reset padlock.
  2. Yep, same thing here... that IF is very well hidden. :)
  3. Off course, but Russian army being deployed in Nevada is, erm, a little unlikely scenario. On the other hand, you can imagine many believable scenarios going on on the Caucasus map: Russia vs. Georgia, Russia vs. insurgents, USA vs. insurgents, NATO and Russia together against insurgents, etc etc etc. You got my point.
  4. Exactly this! I'd love the ol' good Crimea to return one day... Hopefully with EDGE :)
  5. Agreed. I'm sure that Nevada will be super cool, but it's really suitable only for Red Flag or sightseeing flights. Actual combat operations would feel out of place. Therefore, I hope we will get another EDGE map some day. Either expanded version of the current one, or some completely different, as long as it is a realistic place for both NATO and eastern forces.
  6. OK. I must admit, that with the current update, DCSW runs better than ever before. But… only during “regular” flight. As soon as I look at a static helicopter parked near me, or fire few rounds from my .50 cals, there goes my frame rate… Strangely, those fancy effects like shadows, HDR, heat blur or water reflections (known to be FPS-eaters from many games) are working just fine – I can run DCS with all these features on without any horrible FPS loss. But, few static aircraft in my field of view cause my performance to fall like a brick (both with the aforementioned effects on or off). I don’t understand. I know these models have lots of polygons, but still… And I won’t better even talk about the particle effects… I really don’t want to sound negative. Actually, I want to say “Thank you” to ED guys for all what they have done for us. DCS is getting better and better, and the auto-updater is really a huge step forward. But ED, please fix these annoying issues. They are breaking this great sim for many of us. We have faith in you.
  7. I'd love this one: Here are few more pictures: http://www.vojenskemodely.cz/cms/modules/fotogalerie/fotogalerie.php?id_product=282&id=943 And even a video of it: Too bad I can't find any close-up pictures of the insignia under the cockpit.
  8. Although I have no personal experience with ToH, I have to say: 1) This shows us how stable the coaxial helicopters are in comparsion with their conventional counterparts. If we have people on this forum saying things like "The Shark is crazy, it's trying to kill you", I dont want to hear them when (if) DCS:UH-1 comes out. :) 2) From my previous experience with various aviation games / sims, I can say that "game" helicopters are much harder for me to fly than the properly simulated ones (Funny, shouldn't it be exactly the opposite?). Maybe because the "game" helos fly much more like paper planes than actual machines made from metal. Too little inertia, super sensitive controls... you know that. I still tend to over-correct and cannot steady the helo. In BS, on the other hand, the machine really responds like it weights several tons, how do you expect in real life. Too much easier to get the "feel" for it. At least for me.
  9. That’s a valid point of course. Nobody can dictate them which aircraft to model. It’s completely up to the developers in which project want them to put their money, and their efforts. That’s what free market is all about, after all. But… putting business on one side, it still goes against my common sense. Two people doing redundant work, while there’s so much other work to be done, it just doesn’t feel right to me. Like reinventing the wheel. Just to make things clear, I’m not bashing anyone for developing anything for DCS, nor I’m saying “Stop everything you are doing and create DCS:XYZ for me, right now!”. I fully respect their decision, and appreciate their effort. I just think, effort put into two different projects would make me (and some more community members I hope) a lot happier.
  10. Honestly, I’m not happy about this situation, not one bit. For me, it’s nothing but waste of precious man-hours. Why to develop the same aircraft twice, when there are so many different planes out there to be modeled (and the community wants them). Plus, when both studios decide to go for the same fidelity level, and will do their job right, then we’ll get two exactly (well, almost) same products (in terms of visuals, avionics, and flight dynamics), which gives no sense to me. If there will be differences, however, it means that one, or both, of the developers, did something wrong. And I can already see the forums crowded by people arguing which one of the mud hens is better and closer to reality. The only acceptable scenario for me is one developer going for A-10C fidelity, and other for FC3 level. There are enough customers for both. But again, two SAME planes? The devs should either consider working together on this one, or pick two different planes. No need for two F-15E’s, three A-10C’s five Ka-50’s and dozen of Mustangs. We need Hind, Apache, MiG-29, Bf-109, Spitfire, Ka-52, Eurofighter, [enter any planes of your preference here]… So many possibilities. And BTW, voted for Su-27/33. More Russian planes to DCS!
  11. Haha! Mission 1: Photograph the Greek military base. Avoid being spotted by the guards. Mission 2: Escape from Greek prison. Joking aside. Yes, in some countries, the restrictions of photography are a little over the top. For example, there are countries in the world, where you cannot take pictures of railway. I can't see, how in 21st century, a picture of a locomotive can endanger nation security. But the point is, it's no matter how stupid or absurd a law is. Breaking it will still get you arrested. The golden rule is: You don't pay for asking. If you are not sure, just ask: "Can I take pictures here?". In the worst case, you will get a "No". But you won't end in prison.
  12. Disagreed! :D Ka-50 was the first DCS airframe, so all the long-termed DCS pilots started with it. It really depends on every individual. For example, I've started with Ka-50 too, and I've had no big problems. Yes, it was tricky in the beginning, but I've mastered the bird quite quickly (and I'm not really very good pilot). Just read the manual thoroughly, and don't forget: Trim, trim, and then - trim again. I've bought the A-10 last week, so I am a complete noob right now. All I can say, it's rather easy to fly, but offers a lot of complex avionics and weapon systems. If you love pushing buttons, operating advanced systems and hitting targets from above with high precision weapons, the A-10 is your choice. The P-51, on the other hand, does not have very complicated systems - but it's extremely complicated to fly it right. No autopilot, no stabilization, and the gyroscopic forces messing up everything :). It's the purest form of flying, very rewarding once mastered. You will surely have lots of fun trying dogfights, strafing runs, or just leisurely flying around. Really, the choice is yours. All the DCS planes are worth it. My only advice, don't buy them all at once. Learn one, then go to another. I can't imagine myself learning three high fidelity aircraft at the same time.
  13. It's no matter which god's name you call while killing somebody. It's always bad thing. Generally, relligions are used by the people to justify anything they do, may it be killing, raping or torturing others. In the name of their god, people are able to do horrible things they would never do if they were just following their basic conscience. Because the helo was one huge ball of fire even before ground impact, i suppose your grim assessment might be quite right. Although, don't consider my guess educated...
  14. OOOOOPS! I can see the images in my original post normally, so I supose I did something wrong... It's my first time posting images, so mybe I just need some proficiency... OK, i'll try to find out what i messed up... EDIT: So I edited my post above. Does it looks better now?
  15. Ok, here are few images from an airshow taking place this weekend at Líně airport, Czech Republic (LKLN). However, the main attraction of the event, a Mustang, did not arrive due to bad weather (at its home airport???). And I wanted to see this plane so badly . But still, there were lots of other famous and unique planes. Like these ones: Hope you liked it! I'll post some more shots from this event... sometimes. :D
  16. OK. Tested it last week, and I have to say, very interesting technology indeed! I'm still not done with fine-tuning the settings, and with adjusting lighting in my room (need to do some "extreme makeover", hehe). But it works! There are only two things which bother me:¨ Firstly, it overrides any other view input (exactly as stated). No problem during flight, but during startup, I'd rather use the keypad. Still, nothing I can't live without. Secondly, and more importantly, its reliablity. Sometimes, it starts going crazy for no good reason, sometimes it freezes completely and well, it isn't something you want to happen during ship landing... I hope that better room lighting fixes this issue at least partially.
  17. Big thanks, TurboHog, that was a quick response! DCSW isn't working great on my current system, but I'm already getting myself a new one. It will be ready during next week probably, and then I will surely give it a try. Thanks once again!
  18. Hello there! I've found this thread yesterday when just randomly browsing the forum... The idea of controlling my games with my head without needing expensive head tracking hardware made me very excited! I plan to buy some cheap web camera and give it a try with DCSW. But before I do so, I have a pair of questions: 1. I want to use the ED API interface instead of the PPJoy solution (it seems too complicated to me, plus I don't like the unsigned DLL issues). If I understand it correctly, I have to put files headtracker.dll and DCS A-10C.ini (and rename it eventually) into the folder Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Su-25T\Input\su-25T\headtracker, and into the relevant folders for any other module too, to make them all work with FaceTrack. But: Is it possible for FaceTrack to open all the .ini files at same time (so I can switch to different aircraft and it will still work), or will I have to open the relevant .ini each time I want to fly another type of aircraft? 2. It's said that using FaceTrack will disable any other camera input in DCS. Is it true for cockpit view only, or will it disable my keypad and mouse even in external view? I hope not, this would be a real game breaker... ...and sorry if my questions were answered already. I tried to read the whole thread carefully, but you know, with 36 pages, it's easy to miss something... :book: Thanks in advance for any replies!
  19. No, no magic done with my GPU driver. I have the latest one installed, and I am afraid, that with my computer skills, that's all I can do. Any tips for me please?
  20. Ah, did not know that. Sorry for my disbelief mate :)
  21. I am pretty aware of the limitations of my system, and I know I will have to buy a new one sooner or later. But what makes me really confused is the sudden FPS drop between versions. Yes, my CPU limited me from playing big missions with lots of units (no pity, I suck at combat after all :)), but when just flying around or blowing up some tanks, 30FPS was no problem with decent settings. Plus, some other person on this forum posted, that he had 85 FPS (so his system is on slightly different level than mine), and still got 50% FPS drop as me. So I thing there's something more to it. Any chance getting my Pre-1.2.0 FPS back until I buy a new rig? Pretty please?
  22. Thanks for your reply, Viper! I just tried it with "Medium" settings. No visible difference, still about 23 FPS. With "High" settings, my FPS drops further to 12. I also tried "Medium" settings with HDR on, and got some 18 FPS. My system specs are: AMD Phenom II X4 960T (3,0 GHz) ATI Radeon HD 4600 with 1GB VRAM 8GB RAM Win7 64bit (nothing to be proud of :music_whistling:) And I am suspicious that this is terrain issue. My performance is good when I'm looking towards the sky, worse when looking straight down towards the ground, and lowest when looking towards distant horizon.
  23. Yeah, but he said that none of his cores goes above 50% I am really not an expert about computers, but i guess that one core (the one used by main engine) should be running at max, while others are relatively idle. Or am I wrong?
  24. So I did a little test. I launched the "Ground Attack" quick start mission for SU-25T. I just sat there looking outside cockpit, without touching any controls. My FPS oscillated around 23, with resolution of 1280x800 and even with all graphic options set to lowest. Then I removed World 1.2.0 and installed 1.1.2.1 (luckily, I kept the install files). And guess what - FPS jumped to about 45 with exactly the same settings!!! Then reinstalled 1.2.0 (no other changes to my system whatsoever), and... back to my 23 FPS. So, I can understand that DCS standalone and DCS World are two different product (no matter that they look virtually the same), so they may have different system requirements. BUT... more than 50% performance drop between two versions of the same product?! Are you kidding me?! And what is even more frustrating, this issue is being discussed here for longer than a week, and no reaction from ED yet. Does somebody out there care at all?
