Exactly the same here! -
FaceTrackNoIR v170 released!
Rotorhead replied to V4Friend's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
^ Thanks, Daniel, good find! After following your advice, I don't have to quit DCSW every time. It still sucks, but not so much. Definitely an unpleasant bug. I already reported it at FTnoIR webpage. Let's hope they will find something out. -
FaceTrackNoIR v170 released!
Rotorhead replied to V4Friend's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Good for you then. Weirdly enough, I can't still get mine working. As I already mentioned, everything works fine and fool-proof, just like Daniel says, but only during first mission right after starting DCSW. As soon as I end mission and start any other one (or re-fly the same), DCS completely stops responding to FTnoIR. Clean re-install of FTnoIR does not fix the issue, nor does DCS repair function (I really don't want to completely reinstall DCSW until absolutely necessary). Can somebody please help me?? :helpsmilie: And by the way, I'm using Win7 64bit. Thanks. -
Rudder - necessary for Warthog?
Rotorhead replied to dr_After's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You're welcome! ;) I'd really like to help you choosing the right model, but unfortunately, I haven't any experience with either of them (currently using Logitech G940, which comes with pedals). I think there's not much difference between these two, except the more expensive ones are made from more durable material. However, I'm sure that other more experienced members will gladly give you some advice. You may also try to search this forum for "Pro Flight Rudder Pedals" and you'll surely find some info. -
Rudder - necessary for Warthog?
Rotorhead replied to dr_After's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Welcome to the forum! Yes, you don't need rudder in A-10 that much as in P-51 or Ka-50. But, rudder input is stil needed not only during taxiing, but also crosswind takeoffs and landing, aligning to target, etc. And because TM Warthog doesn't have twisting grip AFAIK, your only means to control rudder is the keyboard, which is not too much use. Therefore, I can fully recommend getting rudder pedals if you have some money to spend. Also, you may later decide to buy Ka-50 or P-51 modules (not even talking about the upcoming UH-1), and these are a no-go without pedals. -
FaceTrackNoIR v170 released!
Rotorhead replied to V4Friend's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello! Thank you for the new version of your great software! But unfortunately, I'm having problems with the part in quote. DCSW correctly detects FreeTrack2.0 as TracIR device, so I can see it in Input menu, and when I click Axis Tune, I can see my movements are recognized. As I enter the cockpit, it still works flawlesly and I can look around as I want. But... only during my first flight. As soon as I end the mission and decide to re-fly it, or start a different one, boom - none of my movements are recognized any longer and I can move the view using Numpad keys. The only solution seems to be to restart both DCSW and FTNoIR. Doing it the old way, using the alternative ED headtracker, still works OK. I'm sure I'm doing a simple and stupid mistake somewhere, but can somebody please point me in the right direction? Big thanks in advance! :) -
So, my first impressions after doing few quick flight tests mostly with the Shark, not much in-depth though: First and foremost: The G940 FFB bug is finally gone and I can fly DCS properly again! I have to thank ED for that, but seriously, it should be fixed some three months ago. As a loyal ED fan, I understand there were more issues to be fixed, but as a paying customer, I don't. Next, the new Su-27 model looks fantastic! This is the way to go ED, can't wait to see more planes detailed like that! Rocket exhausts finally have the right color, and FPS impact of P-51 gunfire is smaller now. Mission editor skin looks nice too. On the other hand, dust from helicopter rotors is still slowing the game down enormously (haven't tried to drop some CBU's yet), which is pretty annoying. As I haven't found any major bug yet, my impressions are fully positive so far.

Hm. Weird. From official 1.2.3 change log: Haven't tried it myself yet, but this statement seems untrue.
-
For those few of you who can speak Czech: Sorry but I couldn't help myself. In situations like this I must think of this song... ;)
-
So true. 10 people posted while I was typing my previous post. :) Before i finish downloading the entire DCSW 1.2.3 via my hyper-broadband (:music_whistling:) connection, it will be available as auto-update anyways. So wheres the point of it. After all, I won't have too much time to enjoy it today before going to bed. So at least I have something to look forward to while at work. Oh, it will be loooong workshift tomorrow. :bounce:
-
I guess that autoupdate will be available a while later. The same was true for 1.2.2 IIRC. If we made it so far, an extra hour of waiting doesn't make a big difference. We have a saying, never speak too highly of today until the day is over, so I won't praise too much until i have it installed and working on my PC, but if everything works as expected (and i strongly hope so), then i say THANK YOU ED. I guess we deserved it.

You bet? :D Oh well... I'm leaving this ugly place now... :ermm:

Really, the link is asking me to login. Weird, it worked without login just minutes ago. Somebody at ED published it too early and now they're trying to get rid of all the evidence! It means another two months of delay!!! Everybody, START PANICKING!!!!!!!! :fear: :D
-
Just WOW. Seems like we are really close now.
-
So maybe they lost one customer. But with their "branching out in a million different directions" (meaning - developing a wide variety of diverse planes), they will hopefully attract more than one customer to DCS. But yes, I see why you hate flying over Georgia full of trees. Flying over sand, sand and more sand would be sooo different. :megalol:
-
I hope this will be the case. Study level planes are the reason why I'm into DCS. I'm considering buying FC3 to support ED (and I'm also a little curious about the upcoming Flanker pit), but honestly, after my first flight in DCS Ka-50, going to FC3 would be a step backward for me. I really can't wait for flying full-blown DCS Flanker, as well as the Hornet. Ooh and the Hind that Matt mentioned in the podcast!
-
^ Very true! It would nicely fit into dynamic campaign. In rare ocassions, a mission would be generated to intercept an unknown radar contact, just to find out it was a false alarm once you get there.
-
^ What he said. :smilewink: Erm, that was... unusual.
-
Quite likely. And i hoped my dreams about Flanker in full DCS glory will finally come true. Well as long it has at least 6DOF pit and AFM, it's not that bad, but still... Actually, i thought that ED plans to focus entirely on high-fidelity modules (A-10C / Ka-50 level), and that FC3 is the last one of their mid-fidelity sims. And honestly, I wouldn't mind.

It's the waiting that finally gets the lads, it's the waiting that's the worst. A sickly mixture of fear, and vainglorious pride. The waiting. Sgt. Brian Frost of British Armed Forces, operation Crimson Lance, Takistan (Arma II) Hang on guys, nearly there! :)

OK, guys, this is already getting too far, don't you think? I am looking forward for 1.2.3 as much as anyone else around here and I can certainly understand the impatience of others, but please, pointless ranting leads nowhere... I'll repeat what I already said: You can eiher wait for a stable version, or get a bugged one now (or two months ago), and then wait for a fix anyways. So what's the matter? In fact, 1.2.0 and 1.2.2 versions brought only problems to me. Therefore, I'd prefer the new version to be solid, stable, and extensively tested, even if it takes some time, rather than already having another broken one. ED is actually kind to us when they are giving us estimates and development updates. Yes, the problem with estimates is that they are sometimes wrong, but still, ED will release their products as soon as they are done (even prior planned release, theoretically). Look at the mainstream game devs. Unlike ED, they are announcing a fixed release dates about 9 or more months before actual release. It means, that release date must be hugely overestimated just in the case something gets wrong. Even if they finish the game long before that date, you have no chance to get your hands on it prior release day. And if they're late, they'll release a rushed, unfinished game just for the sake of making it in time. So these are the pros and cons of fixed release vs. when-it-is-done release. Choose your own. Then try waiting for three months for the G940 FFB fix... :noexpression:
-
As you wish! Soooo...... when it will be released? :D :tomato:Sorry, sorry, just couldn't help myself...
-
Nice theory, but... How in the world do you plan to alter asteroid's trajectory in a way that it precisely hits one particular city? I'm not expert in that matter, but I highly doubt it's possible. Speaking about conspiracy theories, it's funny how many people still have problems accepting that Tunguska explosion had natural causes, no alien spaceships or anything. Now if they see what a piece of rock about 15 meters in diameter can do without even hitting the ground, maybe they should re-consider their beliefs about Tunguska...

Must be a terrible experience. Glad I don't live there. It's incredible how much energy can be released from such a relatively small object.
