  1. We are only talking about controls here. Graphics settings are indeed not easy to implement and many games don't support it. There are some that do (Dying Light can do it and i think Killing Floor 2, too) but most games require you to go back to the main menu or even restart the game. While it would certainly be nice, i dont expect DCS to be able to change graphics settings on the fly. Controls however are easier to change on the fly AND the neccecary code already exists! We have been able to change controls literally on the fly in singleplayer for quite some time. We just need it for MP as well.
  2. 1. Log in on digitalcombatsimulator.com 2. Click on Profile at the top right of the website 3. Click on Change Password on the left under personal information
  3. MP missions can only be paused by the host. So clients will have to change the controls without pausing the game. The reason we are talking about it is because DCS requires a LOT more controls than most other games. Every time you have forgot one button on the module you haven't flown for months you have to exit server. And: In SP you can totally change the controls. Just press ESC and click "Edit controls" while flying in single player. This is a fantastic feature and a big timesaver. It also proves that it is possible to do. In DCS. So it is probably not that difficult to make it work in MP.
  4. Then don't? You can chat without pausing the game, you can read the briefing without pausing the game (yes, while you sit in the cockpit. even while flying). So why can't you edit the controls without pausing the game? Maybe because you have to load the new controls. Best solution would be to disable all controls when entering the rebinding menu. That way the plane will keep doing whatever it is doing and you can press buttons for your rebinding. As soon as you leave the menu the new controls get activated. This would not require the game to pause. Your plane would just keep flying as if you didn't touch the controls while in the menu. Your fault if you crash. You will probably be standing on the ground anyway.
  5. Soo has anyone figured out if we finally can edit the controls in MP without leaving the server?
  6. So you had problems prior to 1.5? That is probably a different issue then. Anyway, do you have special characters in your password? The website seems to be able to handle them, DCS can't. Try changing your password to something with only characters and numbers if it isn't this way already.
  7. Server problems. If you want to play single player you can just skip the login with by clicking on the X. Otherwise try logging in a few times. The new login button at the top of the screen comes in handy.
  8. Yeah, server problems. If you want single player you can just click on the X and play without having logged in. Otherwise i guess you will have to try a few times. Note that you don't have to restart DCS every time, you can just use the new login button at the top of the screen.
  9. I had special characters in my password and i got "wrong password or username". After changing my password not to include special characters i either got logged in or i got "no internet connection" or "internal server error". So we have two problems here: 1. DCS does not support special characters in passwords 2. The servers are currently under heavy load and may not always respond. These two distinct problems are easily told apart by the error messages (wrong password for special characters and the other two for server problems)
  10. Honestly guys, just type dcs_updater.exe update openbeta into cmd and you will be set. No controls copying, no worries about activation and no worries about your drive space. And if you want back to release just type dcs_updater.exe update releaseMore details: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Maybe the downloader on the website is old? Try running the upater you downloaded on cmd with the first command i posted. That should make the updater update itself it is not up to date already. Of course it will also start downloading DCS 1.5 if the downloader is up to date.
  11. For those guys who still dont know how to get the beta: 1. If you use steam you can just join the beta in steam's options for dcs. 2. If you whish a second installation parallel to your release version download the beta installer from updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com 3. If you want to make your existing install a beta install (or vice versa) use the dcs updater to easily and quickly do so. Instructions: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030
  12. Its fine just enter digitalcombatsimulator.com again and you will be logged in.
  13. Well the VRAM shouldn't be an issue even if it is a 3D scene since i dont have any performance problems in the actual simulation. In fact, it runs beautifully with more than twice the framerate than i had in 1.2.16. 2GB on my GTX670.
  14. WOW the performance of 1.5 is great! i have more than twice the performance than i had in 1.2.16. Fantastic! I get to up my settings somewhat and still be above 60 all the time.
  15. i5-3570K, 16GB RAM, GTX670, Windows 7 64bit (duh). DCS is installed on a SSD.
  16. I get less than 30 fps in the main menu as long as the video in the background plays. As soon as i switch to a static background (select a module as background) the fps shoot up to 144 and the menu is actually useable.
  17. Having the game on steam has several disadvantages. Early Access content is not available on steam (for example the NTTR map will not be available on steam for a while). It also locks you into buying only from steam. ED's store regularly gets better discounts than steam (presumably because of valve's cut). Note that you can move steam keys to non-steam but not the other way around. Additionally you are independent of steam so other family members can use your steam library while you are flying. You also have two DRM systems active at once: Steam and StarForce ProActive.
  18. The DCS downloader does not create a server (otherwise my firewall would have asked me). It also does not open ports on the router using UPnP which it would have to do since almost every client sits behind a router using NAT. I don't know how akamai does it but normal torrents can't run silently without the user noticing. So no, the DCS downloader probably doesn't use P2P.
  19. Maybe they release a torrent so that the download speed increases with the number of people participating instead of slowing down?
  20. So wags changed his profile icon...
  21. Can we get a percentage cut off for closing airports and farps, so that we dont have to kill every last unit? It seems like there is always some vehicle hidden by the other team or bugged somewhere where we can't see. Just close the objective if there is only 1 or 2 enemy units left. Maybe it can be done by programatically killing the last objectives. Since the units respawn in waves they shouldn't get killed again as soon as spawn.
  22. Another lonewolf registration for round 3! Codename: Oznerol256 Side: BLUE Aircrafts: A-10C, UH-1H, F15-C, Mig21
  23. Right now i have two separate installations of DCS. One for beta and one for release. Now i want to uninstall the release version to save space. I can switch between beta and release quickly using the updater, so there is no need to have two installations anymore. Do i have to deactivate the modules before uninstalling or are both versions sharing a single activation?
  24. Shouldn't they be set to something that doesn't make the reticle invisible by default? Anyway I tried all three of the knobs (one of them is just for the target size scale) and nothing changed. I made a track showing the problem. Interestingly the radar didn't warm up in the track. That is offtopic. I am searching for a solution to my ASP problem. EDIT: I found the problem. Apart from the brightness knobs there is two switches on the ASP thingy that disable the fixed net and the reticle respectively. Those are off by default. I must have missed them in the manual. And i guess you meant those switches instead of the brightness knobs uboats. Also make sure you have the gyros on or the ASP won't to a thing. SOLVED mig21 asp.trk
