  1. Yeah, it's all over the media today, I hope he'll recover from this.
  2. As Mav said, never use autothrottle (IIRC J button) or barohold (H) during IFR. All AI flights in FC1/2/3 seem to vary speed for no reason during straight and level flight. This was even worse with old LOMAC and FC1.1 when I practiced formation flights with AI units. IMHO IFR with FC3 now seems pretty easy... Once hooked I keep my eyes on the cable, I see it flexing back and forth and this way I can anticipate throttle inputs...I use TM Cougar and it's throttle has friction adjustment. For formation flying and IFR my friction is set to minimum so you can't take your left hand off from it without throttle "falling" to IDLE or Full Mil detent. This enables me to adjust engine RPM very precisely with small but constant inputs.
  3. On top of that, since MiG-29 is flyable it's also a good candidate for AFM...seems like ED is doing AFM overhauls of flyable airplanes so new 3D model is very likely
  4. Yeah...or wait for 6 hours...
  5. However, with the fact that F-15 is at 15km and E-3 at 90km heat signatures (contacts) displayed in that screenshot are far from reality...
  6. Can't really remember how EOS used to function with FC1.1?!!! I never actually tried to slew it up and down with MiG-29 as I thought it was impossible...
  7. ^^^^ I was trying to get somebody into rational thinking, and there U are... I haven't heard of missile exchange in CCCP/US-NATO conflict during the cold war but there was Korea, Vietnam, Iraq-Iran conflict, Desert Storm etc. This logic remains the same today, export (sell for a good share of money) missiles and platforms to end users (in this case India) then get this guys into participating in Red Flag and similar Blue VS Red scenarios and see how your technology performs. Things that actually work you then keep to yourself... But someone's gonna close this thread because we don't stick to it's theme... I wouldn't want that to happen...
  8. AFAIK there's no MAKS 2014... MAKS is held on odd years (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011)... I was there in 2007 and 2011.
  9. ^^ R-77 was a Vympel design but produced in Ukraine... However, many of the Russian equipment of today is still produced in Ukraine, like helicopter engines, Antonov parts etc...I don't think Russia's gonna throw it all away just because it was made by someone else. Edit: Alfa already mentioned it...
  10. You're all missing a point here with this R-77 debate...this is a photo/video thread we're derailing but let's answer few simple questions... First of all who made the MiG-21-93 upgrade? Who made R-77? Who sold MiG-21-93 capable of launching R-77 (or whatever it's called in India today)? Don't you think that whoever made it also tried it during trials before they sold it to India? Why don't they use it more often? LAck of funds. They don't even use 30 Y. O. missiles..
  11. I believe I mentioned already, EOS is a bit trippy in the lower hemisphere near it's gimbals, heat noise from nose cone kinda clutters it...
  12. It's time to start liking the current one 'cause AFAICS it's far more accurate in modelling...
  13. MiG-31 crash: http://www.janes.com/article/31599/russian-mig-31-crashes-in-far-eastern-region
  14. What are the tracking ranges? Can it detect flare decoys?
  15. Who said anything 'bout India? Last time I heard about MiG-21-93 it was a Russian product. Last time I heard about RVV-AE it was a Russian product for export that doesn't differ from R-77. Last time I heard of Russia it was Eastern block country.
  16. I'm being sarcastic, few weeks ago I saw a statement that there is no photo/video evidence of R-77 launch, on top of that there's serious lack of photos of East block aircraft in flight armed with "live R-77". Only evidence of R-77 existence are black-striped inert versions of it so I'm trying to get this guys into making futher comments... So I'll assume that this must be unguided rocket... :music_whistling: Anyone?!
  17. So OLS-27 nad -27K now work as they should which is +/-30 in azimuth and +60°/-15 in elevation? OLS-29 +/-30 in azimuth and +30/-15 in elevation or do we still simulate OLS-29 for all the platforms? What's with simulating different FOV for OLS systems? Any way of having better detection range with OLS-27K than with OLS-27? I hope some of that gets implemented in the future with AFM DCS-FC updates of these aircraft.
  18. I like the way it is now...that's a definite step forward. I just can't say for sure that MiG-29 and F-4 smoke more than other planes as they do IRL but I do believe that F-15 is a bit exaggerated... On the other hand I don't like the lack of heat blur.
  19. Oooh, it's a fake photo...that can't be R-77, no way...
  20. I bought this DVD during my MAKS 2011 visit and lots of other Wings of the Red Star stuff...
  21. RIP Mikhail, your AK serves me well.
  22. You meant to say: Moderators should post these payware mods into 3rd PD forum secion. Mod authors can't create new topic in 3rd PD section.
  23. Not from the FC3 but from DCS:World U can. DCS:World is a basis: FC3 is a standalone that can be integrated to DCS:W but requires installation of LOMAC. A-10A DCSFC and Su-25 DCSFC FC3 flyables (instead of buying entire FC3 you can buy single aircraft). DCS:Bllak Shark 2 and DCS:A-10C are also standalone DCS AFM and advanced avionics modules but can be intergrated to DCS:World.
  24. I had hair in 2006
