  1. Lack of detail isn't the only problem. FOV is problem too. If you have narrow FOV and are looking forward, speed will look low. However, if you look to side, speed will look high. In real life our eyes have large FOV and see sides even if we look forward. All trees, houses and etc. passing at sides contribute to the sensation of speed. Try searching videos with TripleHead2Go and low level flight. Speed looks high in such videos :) EDIT:
  2. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=726708&postcount=833 "Then I have news for you: 1) Both hydro systems always break together in Shark, despite they are independent". "We checked. Yes, you are right. Both systems fail together. We have missed this bug. We will fix it in future".
  3. There is a bug with hydro systems. If one dies, other dies too. :) So, if you see message about one hydro system being damaged, release gear immediately while there is some pressure left or risk being forced for belly landing.
  4. In DCS, if you press "F" and hold it, autopilot will stop holding altitude. If you release it, autopilot will begin holding new altitude at which helicopter is at the moment of release. If you move collective without holding "F" and altitude hold channel is on, you will be fighting the autopilot. For example, if you increase collective, autopilot will automatically neglect that until you overwhelm its operation range of 20%. So, you can get more responsive collective without altitude hold channel turned on or with it, but with pressed "F".
  5. First, wrong forum (no collectives in LockOn) :) Second, you are doing something wrong. Altitude hold does not work at all when collective brake button is pressed (it is the second function of that device). It is likely that you are using radar altitude hold mode and your helicopter is moving/drifting over rough surface, so autopilot constantly adjusts altitude to keep precise distance from surface as you told him by releasing brake button. Use barometric altitude hold and it won't move up/down constantly while not in perfect hover.
  6. It makes me remember IL2: "Everyone knows that Spitfire outturns BF109, so wtf??? how that BF outturned my Spit?" :)
  7. What DirectX you have installed (minor versions are important)? Try the one from BS or download the latest from MS.
  8. Try descending fast (~200-250km/h / -20 m/s) in spiral. If you don't switch to low RPM, you will overspeed the rotors.
  9. warheads.lua: warheads["C_13"] = -- С-13ОФ HE { expl_mass = 33.0, -- Warhead 33 kg, explosive 7 kg + fragments bonus other_factors = { 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 }, concrete_factors = { 1.0, 1.0, 0.5 }, concrete_obj_factor= 1.0; obj_factors = { 1.0, 1.0 }, cumulative_factor= 0.0, cumulative_thickness = 0.0 }; However, I think expl_mass should not be taken literally (like equivalent of TNT in kg). Instead, it seems like it is just a parameter, which allows to get realistic enough effect. Look at it like at damage_points or something like that, because that number combines damage done by explosion and fragments together. After all, it seems like OF.
  10. There was S-13T prior the patch, however it was listed as S-13OF in mission editor. How is now, I don't know, but it is still listed as OF version. Either it has been silently changed to OF or has been left unfixed, because changelog does not mention S-13 at all.
  11. Climb in forward flight. Keep 130-140 km/h and you will make to 4000m.
  12. Using funnel is gaming the game (exploiting simple behavior of ground objects). If you want to use realistic attack procedures, funnel is bad choice, because even innocently looking truck can be huge threat in real life.
  13. Radar altitude hold has few pitfalls. If you are trying to hover over rough surface and have some drift, than you will be drifting not only in horizontal plane, but in vertical plane too. If you are cruising, radar altitude hold will try to keep set distance to the ground and so autopilot will constantly increase/decrease blade pitch, this will result in more burnt fuel, than flying without radar altitude hold. I personally use radar altitude hold only when I need to fly really low at night. In all other cases: barometric altitude hold is better for me.
  14. "30 min" does not tell much. Quantity of burnt fuel depends not only on flight time, but on how much you push the engines. Don't rush, cruise instead and you will save lots of fuel.
  15. Altitude channel must be engaged and vertical speed must be 0.
  16. Not exactly :) VAC only generates keystrokes, manages profiles and etc., but does not do speech recognition. It uses Microsoft Speech Recognition, which is automatically included with Vista/Win7 and can be also installed into XP. Speech training could be done via Speech applet in Control Panel. It is good idea to train it, if you are not native English speaker, so that "accidents" could be avoided. I use VAC with Falcon and despite my English is awful, Speech API does very good job, however it should be remembered that the more distinct are the commands, the more accurate recognition will be. There is one culprit. If you have localized Windows version and it has native speech recognition pack (i.e. German), VAC will use it. So with German version, VAC won't accept English commands. It may be problem for lower edition of Windows, which do not allow multilingual packs and speech recognition is fixed to one language only.
  17. There is huge misconception about X-Plane. X-Plane does not do fluid dynamics simulation (it is even written in manual), instead it allows to construct aircraft from multiple parts (airfoils) and then use geometrical data to make finite wings for calculations and etc. So, you can break plane design into simpler stages (i.e. choosing airfoils for different parts) and then allow the engine to calculate the final effect. However, you can't design just 3D model and see how weird things (like meteorites) fall, glide or fly - you will need software for fluid dynamics if you want to do that. P.S. I hope to see DCS: Infatry one day. :) Or even 3rd party created "flyable" human. I don't mind low details of landscape (from ground perspective), because it is better to have ugly graphics, but huge landscape and good physics.
  18. If woman freaks out, there is no easy way out, radio off then :smilewink: Seriously, I don't think they have thought much about "wingwoman" as female pilots were minority.
  19. Such voice is intentional. I think there were studies done and they showed that pilots tend to react more adequately to calm female voice. Also, this way it is harder to confuse system warnings with voice of your freaked out wingman. :)
  20. It won't instantly show speed in the HUD after startup. It needs time for warmup/calibration. If you overload your engines by pushing too high AoA of blades, rotors will slow too much and you will get power outage. Such outages are bad for stabilization (autopilot) system, which will need to recalibrate after power is restored. The same is for GS in the HUD.
  21. Dude, this thread is about flaws of Ka-50. Just because some of you added some tips, it does not mean that it became just about simulator.
  22. But can you be sure that MANPAD team is not running towards you in the bushes for perfect launch while you are not doing your attack runs? :) P.S: I am not talking about game.
  23. Yes, but from hover? :) I don't have anything against unguided rockets. They are useful and cheap. However, their usage in hover, seems strange to me, hence the example with ramming stone.
  24. In real life I would not hover in battlefield. Move, move and once again move. I think Soviet doctrine was the same. The reason is simple: it is harder to hit you when you are moving; it is easier for you to survive if one engine malfunctions - you can still escape; and in case of both engines dead, you can still auto rotate and land. Also I think earlier ATGMs required stable launch, which was possible only in forward flight. Unguided rockets from hover? Are they useful when you need to destroy empty camp and there is no ramming stone at hand? :) Yes, in game we can do lots of weird stuff (I do it my self), but do you really think that you can do the same in reality? Ok, you can :D But will you look smart then?
  25. В DCS сообщении появляется в чате, что игрок нажал PrintScreen. Я думаю, то же будет и в FC2 - все такие асы опозориться мгновенно. :smilewink:
