I have 32bit Vista on my older system and 64bit on the newer one. I'm not even sure if you can say driver support is better on 32 bit. If it is better, it has to be minor. Some older USB equipments don't work in Vista... both 32 and 64bit. Like my original TrackIR doesn't work. And I had to wait about 3 weeks for Saitek beta drivers. But other than that, I haven't had any compatibility issue with either 32 or 64 versions. I'd say go for 64bit if you have 64bit processor. Not many games and apps are 64bit now but that will change quickly. 32bit apps are limited to 1.4GB per process. I run into this limitation at work constantly and I'm sick of 32bit already. And one problem is that if you go with 32bit now, you can't upgrade to 64bit Vista. Microsoft doesn't offer that option. You have to purchase brand new 64bit Vista.

Well, you said stay high for Iglas and stay low for Strelas. What to do when there are multiples of both? Plus some Tunguskas... or however they're spelled. Against 1 SAM is a piece of cake. Against multiples, I'm too big of a wuss to dive in so I toss the mavericks just outside of the danger area. But those SAMs accuracy on mavericks are quite striking. And by the way, that was a long answer!! But I appreciate it nontheless.

So I guess the short answer is to just put up with it...

For the life of me, I can't find a way to utilize my wingman in any of the A10 missions. For example, I think it's mission 4 of the default A10 campaign. I'm trying to take out the SAM's first but I don't have enough mavericks to take them all out myself. And especially with those IR SAMs shooting down my mavs (how is that possible by the way?), I was hoping to use my wingman. First, I tried targeting the SAM's with my mavericks and tell wingman to "engage my target" I get no response. I remember seeing Ironhand's tutorial where he assigned targets for his wingman using CCIP mode so I tried that. This time he responds but he goes after SAM using unguided bombs. Suicidal of course. I tried the "engage air defenses" command. He goes after the long range SAM ignoring the Iglas under his belly. Probably he only goes after the ones showing up on RWR. And if he somehow survives it, he rejoins formation but I see ALL of his weapons gone after taking out 1 SAM. Including the MK20's. At the mission debriefing, I didn't see him taking out any other targets so... he just jettisoned all munitions? I tried "engage ground targets" command, he goes straight for the primary target ignoring all the defenses. I've heard that the AI in LOMAC are stupid but I can't utilize my wingman for anything. Do you guys just put up with this or am I missing something?

I disagree. Like I've said, the money saved will be significantly more than the money spent on switching. Especially over time. I think Americans are too proud to change... even tho it's not even their system. Remember Gerald Ford tried to change... everyone rejected it. Who first hijacked this thread by the way?

I know of one imperial measurement that's unversal in all country tho. I believe... rims are always measured in inches in all country regardless what that country's standard is.

Well, in US, I meet people after people telling me they prefer imperial and fahrenheit over metrics and celcius. But it's funny when not many can answer (without looking up) when I ask what the boiling point and freezing point is in fahrenheit. Some people don't even know how to spell fahrenheit correctly either. Everyone knows 12 inches are 1 foot. But they're stumped when I ask how many yards are one mile. Imperial seems like some arbitrary numbers. You can't even call it a system because... there's no system to it whatsoever. British created imperial and even they abandoned it. It's time US gets rid of it too. This conversion costs millions of development cost in auto industry alone each year.

Was doing some homework on the SAM's and is it possible for infrared SAM to shoot down Mavericks? Strelas are IR guided SAMs but it's intercepting my Mavs.

So engage my target with mav's don't work? What weapons to use first is not going to fix it I believe. The problem is if I assign the target using unguided bomb mode, he'll use unguided bomb regardless of what weapon he's told to use first in the briefing. And I tried telling him to take out air defenses. He went for the longest range SAM ignoring the short and medium range sams right under his belly.

How do you tell your wingman to engage my target with a maverick? When I assign a target with mav and tell him to engage, I get no response. Then I try targeting with CCIP and then assign, then he follows my order but attacks with MK20. Little suicidal against SAMs. Those SAMs shooting down my mavericks is really getting frustrating. They shoot down 50% of the mavericks I shoot at them. So I'm trying to coordinate the attack with my wingman but can't figure out how.

This happened to me with my Vista installation DVD. I have two DVD drives, one read only and the other RW. The disc wasn't recognized by the read only drive but worked fine on the RW. Not sure what it was but there is disc compatibility issue. Maybe try disabling the autorun.

I just used different name and email to register again and it worked.

First, try deleting /LockOn/Input/TrackIR.ini file. Dump it in recycle bin, don't delete it permanently just in case but I believe that's a recommended procedure for TrackIR. And make sure you have to sunlight shining behind you. That happens to me sometimes and TrackIR starts to jump around. As far as TrackIR setting, make sure Track Clip Pro is selected as tracking. For LOMAC, check off all axis except yaw and pitch since those are the only two used by LOMAC. The curve is personal preference but I don't like the dead zone in the center so I keep the curve flat at value 4 in the center.

I've put off flight sim for almost 2 years (had a baby inbound) and just now trying to get back into it. And 2 of my favourite sims have returned as a better product. For now, I'm having fun with both. There are definitely strengths in both products and I really wish we can mix the two together. Heck, if somone can create campaign translator from Falcon to LOMAC... if that's even possible, that'd be heaven. Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into F4 vs Lomac. Both are great sims.

I have Vista64 and using dual core with no problem whatsoever. One of the first thing to check when stuttering happens is Vsync. Try setting it on if you turned it off. Or try setting it off if it's already on. If you still suspect its dual core issue, try this command line to launch LockOn. Either use command prompt or using a batch file. start /affinity 2 /high Lockon.exe

I'm sorry, I don't see what exactly is the problem you're having with trackIR.

Right click on the file and properties. Check off read only. I ran into same problem. It does seems to fix the loud noise.

Just hope it doesn't break anything that already works.

I'm sure this will be a newbie question and I tried search but wasn't sure what to search for so it came up blank. While flying F15 campaign missions and even A10 missions, the threat warning display often shows friendly units as primary threat with a diamond. Is this normal? RWR can't tell friend or foe?

Off topic but anyone with forum account at frugalsworld.com give me a hand and let the forum admin know that the registration image at the registration page doesn't work? I was able to register for their web site but can't register for their forum because the image is not showing up.

I found this thread that suggests a workaround to the sound problem http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23066&highlight=sound+problem I haven't tried it yet since I'm at work but will give it a shot tonight. And yea, I have Vista.

Having same issue with the sound. Sounds worse with F15. I just turn up the AB and turn it back down but a permanent solution will be nice.
