  1. yup, agree ;)
  2. Guys, his question was We all know that with faster CPU + Better GFX you get more than with RAM, especially FPS. To answer his question, I think we'd all agree that he would indeed benifit from more RAM, but not as much as from complete upgrade. Framerate might not go up, but stutter would be almost gone. 1 extra gig of ram is not waste of 100-150 $ if we talk about LockOn
  3. Ram in LockOn is always welcome. It will be more stutter free.
  4. We had a very simular path :) I can just add couple more like F16 Combat Pilot, Interceptor, F15 Strike Eage, Combat Air Patrol... I think my first was Air Combat Emulator on C64 like yours ;) And my first experience in flying against a human was with my friend on two amiga 500 conected with a cable that he made. I just cant tell was it Fighter Bomber or Combat Pilot, but i think it was CP.
  5. Lets say you downloaded a mission for A-10. In that case, browse to Lock On\Missions\A-10 Missions folder, and place the mission there. In Game, click on Open Mission button.
  6. I might have confused you there when i wrote REMEMBER ME? REMEMBER ME was a link in my post to some screenshots and stuff about strike aces that you mentioned. sorry about misunderstanding  man, i'm a natural for pulling the threads off toppic.:Flush:
  7. heh, or did you meen The Great Cheops Pyramid
  8. He prolly ment :If you saw him there, you were there. I'm sure it was a joke or at least i saw it as that.
  9. Hey IguanaKing "I used to play that game to death." Couldnt put it better myself :D REMEMBER ME ? I know you do :)
  10. Register here http://www.lockonfiles.com/ 1. Go to downloads > utulities/mods > modman and get Mod Manager LOMAN 5 Instal and run it once. When opening modman, it will ask you which game you wont modman to adress to, and you select Flaming Cliffs if your game is v1.1 or above. 2. Go to downloads > utulities/mods > FPS Tweaks and you will find some downloads (fps tweak mods) to boost your FPS. Some are compatible only with v1.02, v1.1 or 1.12 , so you look for mods on the list which are for your version. 3. Place your downloaded zip files (dont unzip) in C:\Program Files\ModMan\addons_fc 4. Open your ModManager, click on Add-On Manager button and you'll see the list of addons that you've downloaded and placed in ModMan like explained in step 3. Now just select addon and click instal. ModMan also has a nice Graphic Settings option, where you can change LockOn settings with more options than in game. All of this should improve your framerate but will degrade quality of the graphics. Good luck :)
  11. hehe, cool :D Long arm of justice, literally.
  12. just for peoples info, it's F-14's intercepting Mig-23's :) nice movie lasting about 8 min.
  13. np for that, couple of days more and you'll be waiting for me :P
  14. I've used ModMan5 to install Greb's Explosion Pack and i got this msg after instalation. However, ModMan shows state of this mod as green. Can someone confirm that this is allright or should i remove it ? Also, i'm thinking of instaling FPS Tweak 2.0d 1.1.2. Should i use it alone without this EXPL.PACK or can i use both ? cheers :)
  15. that pilot most likely ment that it is easyer for him to get around in his plane then behind keyboard full of shortcuts. this small keyboard might represent entire cockpit and it's functions, but it's not as articulate for him as his cockpit is.
  16. Try MigMan's Flight Simulation Museum Browse site by eras on top (1980 - 1990 - 2000). When you click on game's name in the list, it gives you reviews and screenshots. I saw some movies like this one from USNF and some other old sims.
  17. anyone knows why my adaptive AA is grayed out so i cant turn it on ? x850 here
  18. CD version doesnt need it. It is on it already. I had same question as you :)
  19. Since i finaly decided to order TIR, i tought it might be a good idea to get faster gfx card so i dont get slowdowns when looking around. I had only 500-600 $ (for both TIR and GFX card) on my disposal so i decided to buy fastest AGP card out there. PCI-express is out of question for me atm, becouse i would need to change CPU as well, and that would bring me over 1K. I did my reading about gfx comparison and decided to go with AX850xt thinking that i'll be able to max everything out on 2 y.o. game. Pulled my old 9800xt out, pluged new one in, did the driver thingy and fired up LO. I decided not to change any of my graphics settings at the time, so i can see how much FPS will i gain. 3 FPS (avg 18 to avg 21) wOOt So i Fire up another FPS killer called "GT Legends" With my old 9800 and in DX8 mode I was getting 30-35 FPS with most things set to medium. When i tryed it with my new X850 the thing just blew me away: 80 FPS in DX9 mode and all settings on max and full. Finaly, some questions :) My cpu is p4 3ghz and i got 1 gig of ram. Isnt 20ish FPS on med. settings is a bit strange? If not gfx card, what is the bigest FPS booster in LO ? Is it maybe RAM or CPU ? Is it SLI mode or dual CPU ? I gues it is all of the above in combo, but what would you get (if u could only get one thing) to get more FPS. I'm not pissed at the game or mad at ED or anything, just curious, could i invest smarter?
  20. OT: @ Odin I kind of avoid emulators (I never got one to work) but i still got my old Amiga500 :) If you would run those games now, you'd say " omg, did i realy enjoy this so much?". They look horible now and those 5-10 fps make me laugh out loud. That proves how important it was to have imagination which would step in when there was a lack of bits, kilobyts and megahertz. But still, it is nice to remember them from time to time. Take a look at this realy cool site http://www.migman.com/ It is a flight sim museum :) Click decades on the top banner 1980's, 90's and 2000 and chose between combat and civil games (sims?). hehe
  21. Visible online logbook (status) ? YES PLEASE :D
  22. I am a sim racer and i just recently started to spend more and more time flying. I got some of my racing mates to try/buy lock on and we all love this sim. We meet every day and fly coop missions and it didnt take long before i got my nose in ME and spend almost more time there than flying so i can make more missions for my mates and me. To be honest, i tought it is powerful and wonderful, but now when i read some posts here, i start to agree. Some of this people know more than me if ED has been neglecting ME when updating LO and if it is true, i'd say it is a mistake. I think it should be updated and improved where ever there is room to do so. It is important part of the game (especially for games lifetime), even for new comers like me. cheers
  23. man, you solved it (and 95% of other people probs as well), THANK YOU :D
  24. I've found the answer in UBI forum, posted by Brit_Radar_Dude (thx man) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/77610606/m/7001045372 SOLVED: Now if i could only find the way to make the enemy visible  so i can edit them as well. The window where i choose group (or add one), doesnt show me enemy groups, just mine (flightgroupUS01 and so on). Answer: I clicked on little binocular icon and ticked on LIST OF HIDDEN UNITS
