I tried this out couple nights ago just for fun and was able to hit multiple, non-stationary targets on single pass. Granted.... this was on a nicely arranged column of trucks set up in mission editor. Line up on first target at max range, target with TGP, fire rocket and lase until hit and at same time fire off additional rockets every half mile. Upon first hit, shift TGP to next target with laser on. Boomtown. Shoot more distant target first so TGP view not obscured by explosions. Probably a better way, but it works!

Off topic but what do pilots call the "HMCS"? Seems like kit usually stuff gets a slick backronym but nothing jumping out at me on this one!

Yeah something going on with your account, that's not right

Once I logged in, price for the module was displayed at $9.99.

I just figured there would be some kind of indication in HUD showing optimal launch parameters. A circle, something. I'm not suggesting this isn't how it "is" I have no idea. Would not expect rocket to hit something at closer ranges with laser pointing too far off (pod) boresight though. How maneuverable is this thing?

Watched Wags video surprised there's no que in the HUD when employing APKWS to help pilot make sure the rocket can actually see the designated target when it comes out of the tube.

COMPLETELY agree. And knowing there's a clickable button/switch to do everything you need to do in the cockpit makes the sim easier to get into in my opinion. Assign a few obvious commands to the stick, hop in the plane/helicopter, start pushing buttons, flicking switches, see what happens. I can appreciate the additional complexity in developing ASM though, they kind of have to go most of the way to make every button/switch actually do something.

Anyone know what functions are assigned to the castle switch on the F-15C stick?
-
I've been Googling for F-15 flight manuals and such in an attempt to setup my Warthog a least semi-accurately for the F-15C, but the manuals I've found for A thru C models (as of 1986 at least) don't reference the "castle" switch seen on the in-sim stick. Was this added in later C/D models or is the in sim stick actually an E stick?

Biggest problem using Target with DCS/FC3 series right here. I love the easy setup of switches to do functions similar to that described here with Target. I need to learn this LUA scripting language.

Fictional Western US vs Eastern US with Colorado Rockies being the dividing line. Great scenery here folks. China + Russia invade the US across the Pacific. US coastal defenses are overwhelmed, but the Rockies slow down their march and set the stage for... a new DCS theater.

Except that to my knowledge you cannot fully custom map three position switches on the TM Warthog within DCS and must use TARGET to do so. In my opinion, TARGET really does allow greater function over DCS. The exception being DCS: A-10C due to the sweeeeeet marriage of DCS: A-10C + TM Warthog that requires damn near zero tinkering to work 100% as it should. Note: DCS: A-10C + TM Warthog ease of use is NOT normal, which is why TARGET exists.

Waypoint, Markpoint, Bullseye, Hook, etc...why?
Priest replied to Pochi's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If you hit the mark key on the UFC it creates a mark at aircraft position. HOTAS TMS Right creates a mark at the SOI (TAD, TGP, HUD) cursor position. -
You'll do fine with the Hotas X, just give it time. Use the stick for basic functions at first (ex. flying, firing the cannon, and releasing weapons) and learn the keyboard commands. They're actually fairly logical once you get into it. You can add control functions to the stick as you learn the sim and in the end it'll make a lot more sense. Protip though, since you have a stick and don't need the arrow keys for flight control, re-map keyboard slew commands to the arrow keys instead of the default comma, semi-colon, slash, period keys. I used a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D Pro (lots of buttons, but only one hat switch) for a long time and eventually had most HOTAS functions mapped out using modifiers. I went about it by adding things I learned and frequently used the keyboard for rather than try too make the stick do everything at first and then learn the sim. The TM warthog doesn't even do everything. I still need the keyboard.

My thoughts exactly.

I get the same as OP on the news page.

Probably just wild speculation here based on various comments, but I don't think this is related to FC3 at all. Eagle Dynamics may already have DCS: MiG-29 in the works.

Getting an AI unit to scout/report and give coordinates?
Priest replied to hachiman's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Related question: Is it possible to have an AI ground unit report enemy contacts without being radioed by the pilot first? -
Is their a way to adjust the distance at which ground units are rendered in higher detail and no longer look like "boxes" on the ground? When I'm using my binoculars (meaning: view control zoomed way in) to search for ground targets in DCS:A-10 I'll frequently spot a formation of units rendered as simple low detail box shapes. The higher level of detail models don't display until I fly closer. This seems to happen with trucks and APCs most often. I don't notice it with tanks and artillery as much and that may just be because the low detail models on these units have a little more shape to them. I'm thinking there's probably a value in a config file somewhere that would allow this to be tweaked.

Track IR 5 Ordered (10 days processing?)
Priest replied to Priest's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok false alarm, received confirmation that the order has been processed and is ready for Fed-Ex to pick up. Ordered directly from Natural Point. US delivery. -
Ok finally ordered Track IR, how long does it really take them to get this thing shipped? Website says up to 10 days. Anyone recently ordered?

Why use dumb rockets? Because you only carry 1050 rounds of CM and sometimes anything else is just overkill for the target. The problem is a near miss just isn't enough for a kill with rockets, in my experience you pretty much need a direct hit to kill almost any vehicle and the CCIP solutions just aren't accurate enough for that in most cases. I like to shoot single rockets on my run in and then adjust subsequent shots based on how far I was off on the first, especially against targets on hilly terrain. If they're out in the open on level ground the CCIP solution should be pretty accurate. Also, think about what you're employing them against, if you're shooting up trucks (or anything else that isn't shooting back) get in CLOSE and put the rocket into the driver's seat. Save that burst of CM for something else.

HOTAS Warthog Ministick in Flaming Cliffs
Priest replied to tspencer227's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
"Same for me only joy_x and joy_Y, no joy_rx. But it does appear to work ok. the slewing is all over the place though, even with the saturation changed. I wanted the same smooth movement you get in DCS a-10c slewing." Are you running a script profile via TM Target software though? If you're not running a script you'll have separate controllers identified for "TM Warthog Stick" and "TM Warthog Throttle" in sim, each with their own JOY_X and JOY_Y axes. If running a script then only the "TM Warthog Combined" is available as a controller. EDIT: Added screenshot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/dcsaxes.png/ -
HOTAS Warthog Ministick in Flaming Cliffs
Priest replied to tspencer227's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You're in right place I think. That's odd through, are JOY_Z and JOY_RZ (right and left throttles, respectively) showing up in the drop down menus or only the primary JOY_X and JOY_Y axes?
