Data link in multiplayer question
Serp Supreme replied to Serp Supreme's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for the reply. Try as I might, I can't seem to find anything that lets me change the datalink channel? I'm looking at the buttons on the top and the stuff on the right with the self-ID thing and such, and still no luck -
Hai guise ^_^ Friend is about |this| close to buying the Ka-50. One question about it, how does the datalink work in multiplayer since we can't start out grouped together? I don't see any way to connect to him in the Shark like you can in the A-10, using the NET settings on the TAD. So any help would be appreciated.

A good, and well known example of the OP's question would be Operation Opera, the Israeli strike on the nuclear reactor in Iraq back in the '80s. The pilots then were flying eight F-16s, with 2 Mk-84s on each jet. Wikipedia: However we need to bear in mind that, like someone else mentioned earlier, these were much earlier times and you didn't have the same tech then as you do now. I'm not even sure the F-16 could carry guided munitions at that time.

There's a category in the Ka-50 controls called "Ins Autopilot," you can find all you need right there.

Is it possible to automatically look at incoming missiles?

Are you sure you're hitting the NUMPAD period, not the normal period? -
Anyone have a multiplayer training mission I could swipe?
Serp Supreme replied to Pinger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I have this It's got most of the planes flyable in the game. Objective is to strike a vehicle depot. Theres a few problems I have with the jets staying in place, they seem to return to base, but the helicopters stay. There's also three AAA emplacements surrounding the depot for a little bit of SEAD training, they also serve to help greatly with learning to identify the AAA emplacements that are literally everywhere in missions. It's not too bad of a mission I don't think. 00 Just Like Training.miz -
SAITEK X52 RIDDICKS choice of flight controller :)
Serp Supreme replied to trooph's topic in Chit-Chat
The Day The Earth Stood Still... Terrible movie, but has an X52 :D Arm ya sidewindah missiles... THIS is one hell of a home cockpit Apparently the X52 has force feedback? How come I never knew of this?! :joystick: -
wow, some of those early replies... Not all of us can afford a super duper high end computer. I am one of those who can't. I can run the Hog just fine but the Mi-8 seriously hits my system hard, so it's definitely more demanding. I'm sure your computers are just too powerful to notice, don't think for a second that its the same for all PCs. /rant
-
As all who bought it know (and many have heard), the Mi-8 has a pretty bad effect on the frame rates of some of us with lower-end PCs. Simple question, is there ever going to be any fix to this issue? Will we see a day where the DCS Mi-8 is much less demanding? **NOTE: All replies that say something along the lines of "The fix is you getting a better PC" will be reported to the CIA, MI6, Mossad, KGB, NKVD, FSB, NSA, and FBI respectively. Please be kind and courteous in your postings :D

Seriously though, how? I'm no rookie to DCS, I've been flying for about 2 years. I'm pretty damn good in the A-10C, able to complete mission after mission without getting shot down. I've owned Black Shark 2 for a while now but never really played it. However my wingman is probably going to be buying it, what with the sale for this game on Steam and such. So, lets get to the good part: I've been trying out the Ka-50 again, to try and get a feel for the gal again in pretty much every way. But I realized something upon launching the "Clear Tkvarcheiaofgnmeqi3nt" mission. I have absolutely no idea how to fight in a helicopter. I tried hovering (it was more of a slow crawl towards the target) at near maximum Vikhr range, but got shot down by MANPADs and other missiles.. So I tried passes at high speed, putting Vikhrs down range until I got too close for them, then switching to rockets, but I found myself getting wrecked by AAA and everything else in the area. That stuff works when I'm in my A-10, orbiting or flying over for bombs, all while at a high altitude. ¯\(°_o)/¯ Now, I do understand that this is a helicopter, and its not meant to fight like a Hog. So can someone give me a basic overview of how combat in the Black Shark works, and some simple enough tactics that go along with it?

Good luck with your endeavors man! Always remember: Practice makes perfect! Fly offline until you can hone your skills enough to not get laughed at when playing online and make sure your weapons all work right! I've been flying for about a year in the Hog and my wingman and I still have issues with a few things and also are still learning as we go! It's a tough process but very rewarding.

Well I know Beczl and his team are saying they'd like to finish their MiG-21 by the end of the year. Perhaps the BAE Hawk may be coming onto the DCS site soon as well. Those are my predictions, however someone (I believe Silver Dragon) has created a roadmap for DCS in the future, I'd suggest giving that a peek.

Actually, ENO, I think I'm gonna go with your idea, it would make it seem more realistic. Thanks for the help guys. EDIT: Will whoever I fly this with online see the converted ship as enemy, or even see it at all, if they didn't change their files?
-
So, what is the most efficient way of doing this, assigning the runaway ship to the red side and making the Russian fleet (5 ships, one is a carrier, with 4 Su-33s) or keeping the runaway as a blue member but setting it to attack the player flights? Also I don't think I understand what you mean by that whole "as long as the group unit/IDs are correct..." thing. That puts the ship onto the red side, but I want the Russians to be attacking the ship as well because its violating something, I dunno. I'll think of a better sounding story later, right now I'm after 3 sided warfare.
-
Hey gents. Quick question regarding a mission I'm creating. So basically this blue ship's crew mutinied (I have absolutely no idea how to use that word, i believe what I have is correct. Committed mutiny? I dunno. Anyways...) and is attempting to escape through the Bosphorus, and going god knows where. The Russian fleet in the Black Sea there is attempting to catch them and kill them. The US also wants to destroy the ship for god knows what reason. Now, lets assume this crew doesn't want to go back, at any cost. How can I get the blue ship to fire on its allies, which will be American F-15s and A-10s? I'm looking for a reversed Hunt For Red October style thing here, if that makes sense.

Hello pilots, I recently convinced my friend to buy DCS A-10C, and lately we've just been screwing around in target practice with it. However, whenever he tries to slew the TGP, the jet moves with it. Like if he moves the TGP right, the jet rolls right along with it, almost like its trying to follow the slewing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Mapping zoom to X52
Serp Supreme replied to Serp Supreme's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'll give it a go right now. What do you have it mapped to? Edit: Didn't work, still not zooming. -
I'll give that a go right now. What do you have it mapped to?

Greetings, pilots Lately I've been working with the A-10C a lot, and flying at high altitudes makes it difficult to spot targets. I usually use the numpad * and / keys for zoom, but its difficult finding it. So, i decided I would try to map it to that hat switch on the throttle, with down for zoom in, up for zoom out, left for zoom out slow, and right for zoom in slow. It shows up to work just fine on the controls page, but in game, its unresponsive, and doesn't work, as if I never mapped it in the first place. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

We're all good now! She lives! Thank you very much sir.

Thanks for the reply. Only thing is a crash from yesterday which was unrelated to the editor. Yes, the enhanced terrain thing, the day before I made this thread. That might be affecting it. How would I go about doing these?

Hello everyone Simple problem, expecting a not-so-simple solution. Starting only about 2 days ago, whenever I try to launch the mission editor in DCS, the loading screen comes up but thats the extent of it. Before this problem, it took around 5 seconds for the editor to load. Now, I've waited up to an hour and it still shows the loading screen. When I press alt+F4, a little window comes up asking if I want to close DCS, and if I choose to, it closes instantly. I'm just at a loss right now. I've been very active lately in the mission editor and this issue is making me bored.
