  1. What about the rest of your system? Something there which could be a bottleneck? Better make sure you have the power to make use of a Titan.
  2. No problem, but the recommendation of not having the page File off didn't have anything to do with what you wrote. It was just a general recommendation. Anyway, this topic is advanced stuff and as i understand by reading a little, the concept it is indeed relevant to Windows 7 too. But what would be the best choice of keeping the page file under Windows control as installed in the first place or is it better to set a custom fixed custom size of the "Recommended" Windows suggests? Regarding what you say about testing page file on a SSD. Isn't it so that Windows 7 is supposed to detect if a SSD is present and exclude it from page file use if possible? That is if you have both types of drives installed. Windows had problems doing this with the earlier versions of SSD drives. Of course ppl have systems with only SSD drives installed, but in general writing of temporary files in any case is best avoided on SSD drives. For me i guess i loose some performance for sure by not using a SSD as a system drive, but i like to configure my system so that ALL temporary files goes to my regular HD. Windows itself is fast enough for me on the regular drive. Regarding page file, memory workings etc. i think "Pushing the Limits of Windows: Virtual Memory" is a good resource: http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2008/11/17/3155406.aspx
  3. IconicRipper, fastforward abit this AI test mission until you get into the cloudlayer. Make sure you have Vsync off and maxfps= 120. What happens with fps and what avg value do you get? What values to you get if you fly the mission yourself same route? clouds.miz
  4. Before i had a monster of a 5850 1 GB :D, BUT i did run 3 monitors on it at 5760x1080 in iRacing and it performed very well there. DCS though is a totally different matter. Anyway guess you should go with a newer Nvidia for DCS as said by others. Always liked AMD before and still have one in my other PC. Nvidia and AMD always also gave a different picture regarding colors. But am happy with my 780. It IS too much money for a card i think, but i had to make sure if i bought one it was good enough. hopefully it will grow even a little more when i get a newer CPU.
  5. Yes, if your experience is that its quite reliable, that counts. 10 mins ago i just landed my SU-25T on Nalchik after testing Psyrixx mission "AssetExtraction-v1.2.3.miz" in SP. I was in air maybe 1 hour and took out a couple of SA-8 with 58's before i headed for home. Little fuel left and there was just a wall of SA-8's on the map at least so i called it a day :D. Anyway very smooth play and no problems there. All modules are installed too. ATC worked too, but i had problems with it in MP yesterday. Guess thats reported. So am very happy about 1.2.5.16184 for the time being.
  6. Yes, if looking up on the pagefile there are a few who knows what they talk about when it comes that file. I think i even got a CTD cause i had it off and only 6 GB mem on a large mission. Anyway the file should definately not be off cause it has to with "Commit paging" which you can run out of even if it seems like you have enough physical memory available in task manager. Without it it works 98-99% but its not advisable to have it at a low value. I dont really understand yet why windows want it as high as 24GB when i have 16GB mem, but it COULD be important. May have to do with the Commit pages concept. What i would advice though is to have it set to custom fixed value, which is large enough and preferable on a small partition of its own or to Windows control if required sometimes like you say. Hmm..a little off topic here too :music_whistling:
  7. Skate, I was thinking I dont know if it has been done already on the forums, I do know there is a tread regarding optimizing DCS internally, but would it be a good idea to make a thread about tips (in detail) on how to prepare a PC Windows 7 system as best as possible for DCS to help out ppl who dont know of cares alot about that part? Obviously the tread would have to be edited by one of the Moderators to keep only voted suggestions in at all times. All PC's are different, but there are quite a few common's too on all systems. I guess there is a lot of guru's on this among the members and discussing these improvements will probably make them better.
  8. Absolutely fantastic report, Psyrixx! Don't need more posts in this tread after this. Is it then more or less safe to assume that most problems ppl have with CRITICAL problems (CTD's) is related to their PC setup regarding non DCS related software, memory, drivers etc? Anyway will read section and download the mission you refered to right now! Thanks!
  9. This tread wasn't really for problems it was for successes...lol, but regarding your problem it could be a million causes for it, but try if you haven't: 1. Restart PC 2. Close absolutely all processes not nessesary for DCS and Windows to function through Task Manager also disable Antivirus temporarily. 3. Run DCS from the Multiplayer icon 4. Try and do the problem mission If it doesn't you better uninstall DCS, go through you PC setup regarding enough memory available, swapfile, GFX drivers, clean up all kinds of TEMP files after DCS. Make sure enough space available on HD's, etc. etc. Then when installing DCS again using the full torrent installs. Remember to check both DirectX and VC++ for update and make sure no errors during install. Its difficult to suggest other things for me. Btw. put up all important data for your system in you Sig so its always available in your posts.
  10. No problem Psyrixx :). Regarding the thread i also wanted it to be as "clean" as possible regarding successes. I hoped and wanted ppl to read the text since i wanted ONLY longer (in air time) and rather complex missions to be reported. So couldn't on top of my head, put it short enough in the title.
  11. Yes i understand completely, but at the time i didn't know exactly what to put in the title. Anyway there are probable several reasons why ppl dont reply. Not a big deal. Its early too maybe to report much regarding this.
  12. Ok "non responsive process" then? I will try it out myself then if it's not password protected and see what happens.
  13. Either me or you is messing up this abit. I wanted those who have had SUCCESSFUL LONGER COMPLEX MISSIONS only to report here.:)
  14. After 137 views and one post, it obviously looks like 136 have had one or more CTD's. OR maybe they just have more important things to attend to than this thread :D
  15. Yes, i see. I dont think it should be rocket science to figure out some possible improvements for you, but maybe then it could also be...I dont have the time to do much analysing since i take care of 2 small kids these days, but to find out how much object complexity drain you right now, spesifically planes like the A-10C and maybe others, If you have the A-10C, try this simple test: First settle for a graphics setting which is ok for you (not fps wise). Dont be greedy though :D. then try this mission (You dont need to fly any) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108231, but load it into the ME and save it first as it was made for 1.2.4. I ran it just now and got 35 fps avg. with my current CPU speed and Gfx settings (pretty high). I think its good for some tests as it has very few variables every time you run it so when tweaking its quick to test what happens. See what value you get first in average and note. It could be that you get a quite low value on high settings. This mission dont have any other units apart from default on map. If you get a low value, what does that tell us? Well it tells us that if we have a mission with a few of these guys somewhere close and in the viewport, but not nessesarily see them then we are allready in trouble. So apart from buying a faster nivdia card there is a couple of things to look at. I guess you have tweaked the hel* out of the graphcis.lua? Try the mission with and without your graphcis.lua tweaks. I would bet you wont see much difference. But there is another way. Path: \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\World\Shapes File: a-10.lods That is the key file to raise the general fps. And if adjusted correctly it should give you alot in that particular mission without loosing much eyecandy. You cant loose eyecandy which you dont see. I did tests on that way back and you need to understand the filecontents and especially how it works to tweak it right. I dont really understand it very well, but i just tried out values until i was on the right track. I used quite some time to get it more or less right so that everything looked good as far as i needed it to look good, but unfortunately i've lost the values after an upgrade and i dont need them now with my new card. You can do this for planes mostly and helps the more planes there is in a mission. Some planes like the F-16 its not possible, the full detail is drawn more or less all the way. Just play around with it and see if it helps. Not that much wasted time hopefully. Good luck! --
  16. NewSpeedy, I dont know how much you've check before buying your setup, but your AMD 7850 is more or less in theory the same performance as the GTX-560ti (post above, but SLI) in a "ordinary" D3D application, and i think that the CPU is more than enough, but what happens is that your 7850 is saturated in many situations while playing. I guess you have optimized all other aspects of your software and hardware. If i was you and didn't want to spend much more money. Sell the 7850 and get a GTX-480. I can't promise you, but 480 is a powerfull card even if little memory. May be to find cheap used too, but check if anyone else here have a strong optimized platform and a 480 to be sure!
  17. Who of you members in here especially those experienced with setting up DCS, PC's and flying, have done some longer flights in a quite complex mission (containing many different units and triggers, released considerable amount of weapons etc.) without having a CTD in 1.2.5.16184. Note without a CTD. Any other problems dont count here so leave that out. Also specify if you had AI wingmen, human or no AI in groupflight. Optional, but useful is mission name. Anyone dear to voice their experience?
  18. Yes, thanks. I haven't done much complex missions after the change though. Will try more soon.
  19. Thank you, thank you, Phantom88!
  20. Today i was a bit unsure about how things would turn out since i had bought 2 sets of 2x4GB memory which i wanted to put onto my old P6TDV2 board. Had almost tears in my eyes when i had to take out those nice big heavy Dominator sticks :D, Anyway i bought the pretty cheap Kingston Blu KHX1600C9D3/4GX modules and mounted 12 GB first. Everything ok. Then i've read various treads about varying luck with other configs. After thinking about it for a short while maybe i should try adding the last one too. Glad i did! According to my tests after i lost just a few MB in transferspeed from 12 to 16, but Tripple channel worked and all well in XMP modus. Kingston says modules are 1.5V, but package says 1.65V so put them at 1.56V. While messing with this i also did a 3D Benchmark after downclocking the 920 to 3.8 Ghz to see what i got in the Passmark test software. All i can say is these 780's and Titan's are just brutal cards in a single GPU config. Very happy i put the bucks extra in the GPU part. Check the values i got compared to the 680 and 6950 as attached!
  21. Watched your 1st part a week ago and also now part 2. Good job, Psyrixx!
  22. Maybe i've done wrong here, but isn't the torrent for A-10A pointing to the A-10C exe? Anyway was supposed to DL A-10C so ok for me i have it now.
  23. No, i didn't. Dam*..just after i put my post in the update tread i went into my email and found it. Talking about the dev*l and it stands before you! I never had problems with Steam, but this... After trying to move BF3 to my Warfighter installdisk incl Origi* following a procedure, result have to download 15 gigs again...That btw. is put on hold! Thanks for quick help!
  24. Got this mail just recently from "support@origin.com" "Dear customer. Your origin account contact information has been expired. Please refresh your contact information here: http://originp.1gb.ru/index.htm or your account will be blocked. Thanks." This is a fake page isn't it? Just by getting really unsure i'm in trouble in my opinion. Gotta check the Game DVD cover better and make sure Origi* is not even mentioned before i buy next time....
  25. To Wags and team I just have to say one thing first. Impressive work lately from you and the team! I am really impressed after reading the changelog Please make sure to forward to all in the team! Since there is alot of stuff to try and crasp in that "Friday update tread" with all kinds of of views and "i think this and i think that" i also wanted to ask a little about this e-store vs Steam relationship. For me as a small difference on top of my head i would if i can in the future like to run DCS without the Steam app flashing up there in my systray. As i understand from earlier experience in other games, usually i can play games in offline mode regarding Steam, but still steam is there. How will this work now for my all e-store DCS package? I mean will there ever be any permanent issues combining the two update directions. That is if i buy let say a module through Steam. To ask more directly will there allways be an exact same module available at the e-store with regular starforce protection which i can buy instead? In the near or far future is it safe to say that IF one of them are dropped will it be Steam before e-store? I have a feeling am asking more than can or will be answered, but if possible can i get some views on this? For me i want to keep Steam and likewise apps out of my mem as long as possible. Its just that every time i think about the mess i have had with let say Origi* id rather keep these apps away.
