Wow! Yeah isn't that a typcal bass player:D You probably just like it cause of her;). No, seriously wasn't too bad. But probably a little out of bounds for me these days. Thought i could hear some Miles Davis stuff in there too. Old Weather guy Wayne of course :) Lets try something very different now but first: 1. Grab a cold beer 2. Sit down in front of you powerful hifi 3. Turn up the bass, treble and volume 4. Play this tune by this amazing thai guy and listen to the whole tune. 6. Hopefully get a memorable time

But i am running Winrar all the time...just kidding ;). Am not sure actually what kind of modules i can get around here, dont think i have seen these you mention. But basically what your saying is that its not so crucial what i buy? There is a shop i MAY be able to return them if they trouble my OC. Guess i just take my chances then. Go for a 3 x 4GB set maybe if i find it. Thanks for the link though!

No FPS increase after video card upgrade
xracer replied to Gloom Demon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry, sorry and sorry my bad, overlooked that 8320 you have. If you look around the forum maybe some other guy here has the same GC as you but a faster Intel CPU, but havent looked into the tread. Maybe he can tell you how his system performs with a similar mission? Also what was mentioned in a post earlier in the tread, do check the GPU utilzation closely while running DCS and see how it does. Use HWInfo64 and log utilization and D3D in a DCS session to a file. Anyway i think that if you go Intel soon and an allround good one at least you should be able to get pretty good performance in DCS. If you go Intel buy a USED IB syst. 2600K or 3770k then OC it. I think you will be happy. -
No FPS increase after video card upgrade
xracer replied to Gloom Demon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I dont really understand all this fuzz about CPU dependent etc. etc. DCS as of today utilizes the graphics card very well. THE difference between DCS and most other games is the drawing distance combined with very detailed objects and by the look of thiings the GPU is taking care of this to large extent allready. I know what i saw before my GC upgrade and what i see now at 3.8 GHz. Two totally different worlds. Simple as that. If you have a 3.8 Ghz Intel CPU either i5 or i7 then your more or less there if the graphics card is good. The difference shows when you go above GTX-770 or 680. With EDGE hopefully we will enjoy something greater, but if its gonna be that much faster i really doubt it. I think multitreading is the key though. -
Agree! The 3770k is probably the best current CPU for the money and it is also the one with most OC potential. It is also reported that the 4770k in general runs hotter.

Hi, I'm looking into buying some more memory for my "old" X58 board, Been reading a bit elsewhere online about this, but wanted to see if anyone here have any views on this. I found the following online: Quote: "With the Core i7, the days of fast memory or extreme bandwidth are over. There's simply no need to pay a premium for extreme memory timings or speed. The Core i7 is not bottlenecked at all by memory no matter what timing or speed you're using. Sure you might see a few points difference in a synthetic benchmark, but in the real world its completely negligible. Never before with a CPU archeticure has memory been so not important. Spend your money elsewhere, faster CPU, faster hard drive, faster video card, all are better investments with far more return on your dollar." End Quote. My board has Tripple Channel possibilities, but i dont really know alot about the advantages or disadvantages of trippel or dual, but all i do know is that i have to get memory chips which makes me able to run at my OC potential (see sig). I guess speed of the chips doesn't matter that much as quoted above and i think i can infact verify that as i now do run my mem at 1066 MHz default timings and if i run between 1333 and 1600 i dont see any less or better practical performance difference. If you have any suggestions, experience and or have this board with more than 6 GB, would like ot hear what i should do regarding go to 12, 16 or 24 GB and also the brand and specs. Also am not sure the mem have is called the same or even sold still.
-
I would refer to this very good suggestion: I cant see any system specs from you? Put up especially main mem size, GPU type and memsize and Pagefile size. If you can, put the Pagefile on a different disk than boot drive or DCS. Make sure it has a set size (not system managed) Make sure it is TWICE your main mem size or the recommended shown by Windiows. My system also crashed quickly after entering one of the complex missions online. After switching to a different simpler which i have tried many times now. Not a single crash. Obviously it could be triggers, new 1.2.5 objects or effects etc. which is the problem, but until new fixes, try above. Good luck!
-
The errors you get shows a direction towards graphic routines, but my bet is that it is cause you get low on memory either main or GPU. I have a feeling 1.2.5 demands a llittle more mem. Also make sure you have efficient and correctly sized Pagefile. Also Clean out you temp files before testing.

Do you use 1.2.4 or 1.2.5? If you now have 1.2.5 and 1.2.4 was ok then maybe wait a couple of days and see what changes ED do or reports about the next "hotfixes" before you do any major research. Until then play around with your graphics.lua. Maybe use the Mission Generator and make simple missions without AI planes and see how it goes. I think many have had this experience with less performance with 1.2.5. I dont see much difference nowadays fps wise or put it in another way its good enough still. Before when i had a much less capable graphics card fps went up and down alot...most down as i recall... Good luck!

Anyone in here who like fusion, jazz rock or anything in that direction?. Thought id ask first since its kind of more for those who likes soloist / instrumental stuff. Sample below with Spyro Gyra Check jamming at pos 32min 00s onwards with Scott Ambush's bass solo and also the drummer's solo part later on is just amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLu_FOa1S_c

Yes, what in the (DCS) World is that???? Does it happen in MP, SP or both? ALT-TAB out to check Task Mangager through the session and see whats going on.

RAMDisk for Temp folder (stutter problems)
xracer replied to Raf's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thanks, great info! I don't have enough memory yet for using it, but will buy soon. Also all these DCS temp files may fragment some disks. Did use RAM disks a little way back in time, but was a little messy to use. Will look at this one later on, Thanks! -
You could try this small "tweak". It affects in flight and lobby fonts for messages. This tweak is in a file which may not be supposed to be usermodded but i guess c0ff or someone else will tell. There may very well be better ways to this, but i didn't find one. NB! Use Notepad++ only editing. I haven't settled yet for a better color for the text so this made it more readable for me. File: \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\FUI\Resources\Multiplayer\chat_list_box_item .res Code: \istext{1} \fontcolor{255, 255, 255, 255} \fonttype {font_dejavu_lgc_sans_condensed_10} <-- change 0 to 2 ( NB!! other sizes like _16 will crash the sim !!) \thickborder{0} \xshift{0} \yshift{1} \drawitself{0} \activating{0} \pressing{0} \sendparent{1} \hasborder{0} \alignmentleft \elevated{0} \isswitch {0} \upclick{1} \frameinactive \is3dtext{0} \is3dtextdown{0} \readonly{0} If there is another better way let me know. Couple of sample pics attached. ----

I saw the thread title and thought i look into in. Always been a great guitar addict. Allthough i have many guitars (Ibanez SA-260FM, Fender Strat Custom Shop 50's, Epiphone Joe Pass, Nylon's and Western's, Yamaha Bass, Midi stuff etc.) i find that am not gonna use alot of money on the wood until i find the right pickups first. How they sound is quite important in my experience. So far a set of the SD pickups seems to be the most versatile for my music styles. In my situation now a tube amp isn't really an option and I find that a AXE-FX II does most I would need. I use a simple GT-10 now. Not the best pre-amps, but some good sound can be produced. I have drilled in a tone i like for most so it ok. Anyway, the thread seems to have alot og focus on equipment and i dont have much fancy to show off in that dept. Not too important to me. I guess music taste is what it is....very different from person to person, but what i think any serious guitarist appreciate to listen to is guitarists with several good quailties. I guess we all have heard all the legends both old and new, but I have a few less known for you here which i really love to listen to. This is all instrumental solocentric stuff and of course needs to be played loud  These are just samples from them, but 2 of them have a serious spectrum of playing qualities. So check out their other stuff too. This one is my all time guitar masterpiece looking at range in the composition Another one from 7:35 (Its all in the fingers...check the guitar he use ;) 60's strat part (red) just beautiful phrasing) Unparallelled technique...also last 30 secs is just unreal on an acoustic Hopefully enjoy, and maybe you have some yourself for me to catch:) ----

I think first of all in reallife you dont have micro or macro framratestuttering which is in the sim anyhow good system you have. Another important thing is that in a graphics (not video) based sim like this when the objects get down to certain size the view of the pixels starts to be seen as flickering dots. On top of that especially much of the scenery in current DCS World often have these small flickerings which unless you have an unlimited AA and resolution possibility. Most of this happens in the range which we need to see things well. All this is different when looking out the cockpit in RL. In real life you do have virations for sure, but its different anyhow.Technology could take us there eventually, but not yet. But to spot things is all difficult anyway also obiously depending on backgound contrast colors. And current scenery doesnt look that real in my opinion. That i guess is one of the reasons why to be a combat pilot you need to have a Eagle's vision and of course in colors :). ---

Benchmark here (DCS World 1.2.4 A-10C module reqired)
xracer replied to xracer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's nice performance. these days i guess your setup could be cheaper to invest in than mine, not sure. Only thing could be that yours may generate more heat and watts? -
Thanks alot ajax! +1 rep for you. Cant believe its not been made a option in the UI for things like this one. We got to make everything ourself Guess the other guys in here dont have any colorvision :D

Is it possible for the client to configure his DCS installation so that the color of the text in the chat window in MP for text written by others is his own choosing. I cant a read the blu'ish color well at all. Really annyoing to say the least. My res isnt more than 1600x900 either. I've searched for it on the forums and in the manual but cant find anything. It could be any of these files in here: \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\FUI\Resources ie. chat-Log.res or chat-say.res I did a few edits here and there and things are happening in that area, but its a little like looking for a needle in a...dont know the word

Today the first time i joined a server i did got a CTD before even entering the runway. Log said "mem access voilation" something, but i did not have my 9 GB swapfile active at that point which i often don't. I activated it and did a flight for 1.5 hour in air and did not have any kind of hickups. This server was not loaded with players though. Allthough the first flight with the CTD was. Both had good pings (32). Last flight system mem use was stable at around 4 GB all along. Have any one of you tried the Norwegian server or is ping to bad? It has a updated 1.2.5 mission. Thats all i have for now.
-
Just a note for info. If you got lots of CTD's while testing, remember that your ....local\temp\dcs folder can be filled with lots of files. So if new ones arrives everytime a CTD happens it could get crowdy and fragmented.

Deleted docs mysteriously reappear
xracer replied to Gloom Demon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Ok, thanks for the info. -
If thats the cause and you usually have high framerates with VSYNC OFF, try in graphics.lua to change maxfps = 120; to maxfps = x; where "x" is a quite lower value than you usually have in game. If you need less than 30 to keep temps acceptable there could be something wrong with your cooling either GPU or in Case. Dust? NB! use only a edit program which is safe, like Notepad++ I see u have a Nvidia. I have a card which supports a program called "EVGA Precision X" which let me set performance based on GPU temp. Do yours have a similar? If so what happens with performance if you let the card perform upto a certain temp? Good luck!

Another variable regarding DEP...looks type of hardware is also into the equation (Attached pic)? Guess most CPU's have it built in these days anyway. I think choosing top option should be good unless DCS uses or accesses shared or protected memory in a non acceptable way...:music_whistling:

That looks definately also as an alternative, good to know and hope we can continue to have this option. That would be up to ED in the future. Important ting here is also to clearly state that if someone feel uncomfortable doing stuff like this they probable shouldnt. And yes backing up to the same drive isnt all that safe ;) That is definately true. ED is actually supplying a complete sim for free. Ppl should keep that in mind. Of course some get angry cause they have also invested alot in modules. Thats a bit undertandable, but for me i wouldnt call it alot even if having all modules) looking at the great planes we get to choose from. The sim is getting quite complex so problems will always be there to improve.

When i connected to a MP server i started up and taxi'd my SU-25T almost to the runway entrance, then i had to do a checklist lookup so i was standing there for like 2 mins looking back in F2 view. Then i got these messages (attached). It was a mission with rather lots of units and i dont have that much mem and most importanly i dont have a swapfile active. Could that be the reason for the CTD? EDIT1: I have only FC3 installed for the moment apart from DCS World EDIt2 : Activated my swapfile and did another server, did some free flight for 15 mins and it was very smooth. Dont know how complex the mission was but was a couple of players in there. So working for now...Btw. was on the Norwegian server.
