  1. Well I suppose there was really no need to have them on front line since the only threat to the allies came from flak due to the lack of fuel to supply the luftwaffe. Yeah sure the rest in reserve, nothing to do with them being blown up in transit to airfields or being blown out the sky because the skies were owned by an abundance of allied aircraft or because they were in need of repair.... No there were keeping them out of the way  you really believe that at this point in the war the luftwaffe weren't throwing everything they had at the allies advance?! Wake up and smell the coffee, either that or your own BS Either way I can't wait for the release of the true opposition to the rare Kurfürst the XIV, no matter how much negative propaganda and misinformation you spread it won't stop the XIV from being released
  2. Tempest V - 801 Spitfire XIV - 957 Dora 9 - 1805 K-4 - 1593 Now of course this is not a fair comparison as Germany didn't have enough pilots or fuel to get these aircraft in the air  For example... 856 Kurfürst produced by the end of 1944 yet only 314 were in operational service by the end of January.
  3. 3500!!! Lol perhaps 350 actually in service  Knowing your love of telling porkies I will compile my own list :D How about you make a fair comparison for a change?
  4. Now that what I call a perfect description
  5. He has see "and had good chances against some very very good 109 pilots" :D
  6. Hey Goblin, Thanks for the inspiration, hopefully mine will turn out just as classy as yours
  7. LOL Tell that to the 109 pilots I have shot down online  Yes the lack of speed is frustrating and both the 109 and 190 can disengage if they have kept the speed advantage, however the second they lose it they are on the back foot unless they are allowed to regain speed. Once (or perhaps if  ) VEAO get the XIV out of the hanger then we will also have a spit that can keep up :D
  8. Thanks chaps :D Unfortunately I have no space for my 190 pit and I wasn't willing to compromise on the design, so it is on pause  I knew I had forgotten to give someone else a kudos, I stole the idea of using a rotary damper from your design so Kudos to you MMaister  I don't suppose you happen to have a spare DEB rotary! :music_whistling: I was actually looking at a motorcycle steering damper for the ailerons why did I not think of using one for the elevator! So to clarify one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-CNC-Motorcycle-Steering-Damper-Stabilizer-For-Honda-Suzuki-Yamaha-Kawasaki-/231805952150?hash=item35f8b62096:g:DnYAAOSwKtlWjhUK For the elevator. Unfortunately I do not know what size of force they can dampen? How about one of these for the aileron forces? http://www.ebay.com/itm/C201-Steering-Stabilizer-Damper-For-Suzuki-Hayabusa-GSX1300R-GPR-V4-2008-2012-/302059265633 I would adapt a plate to fit on the gearbox so it would move with the elevator and a pin coming off the control column :) I have been pondering what to do, do I mimic a high speed scenario or a low speed... regardless of which I want the difference in the two controls to be represented.
  9. This is a good source, I am sure you already know it ;) http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/150-grade-fuel.html Might have to purchase this book.... https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ei8_DSpPEaQC&pg=PA187&lpg=PA187&dq=spitfire+%2B25lb&source=bl&ots=IM1DEof-j0&sig=P8b4hEAl9YKnTyGp0iA5jwaqlVM&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiB6suonP_QAhWFWBoKHfGmAsIQ6AEILzAD#v=onepage&q=spitfire%20%2B25lb&f=false See 1943 Point No.9
  10. Thanks :smartass: Loving this module thanks again for all your effort, she is incredible you should be proud
  11. PLACEHOLDER 3
  12. I have been trying to crack on with this project between cooking, drinking & flying the spit of course :D When it comes to tools I don't always have the right stuff so workarounds have to be employed as the image below shows... But it works out okay in the end :D I could not put off the biggest job any longer and final finished the gearbox assembly, which actually went very smoothly. Tomorrow I will attach the pedals to the frame & start to build the box :) Thanks to draken152 for inspirational use of aluminium profiles in his mind blowing Dora Cockpit
  13. I have been pondering one of my biggest issues in recreating a 1:1 replica Spitfire Control Column and that is how to dampen/load it :( At present I am looking at around ~15lbf for the elevators and ~30lbf for the ailerons however this is subject to change (There was a marked difference in the real aircraft which is why I want to mimic it). The elevators force above should be fairly simple to replicate, I was looking at something like this... http://www.slamproof.co.uk/epages/BT3287.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3287/Categories/Deceleration_Cylinders However replicating the aileron force will not be so easy... Currently I am thinking along the lines of one of these.... http://www.slamproof.co.uk/epages/BT3287.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3287/Categories/Rotary_Dampers/Continuous_Rotary_Dampers Which would attach to the gearbox at the end of the column (The part which attaches to the fuselage.. see images below). However the rotary damper could leave me with a 5% slip (No resistance from the rotary damper at the start) & an expensive design, so if you chaps could steer me in another direction/solution that would be very much appreciated!
  14. Hello Chaps, As you can hopefully tell I am currently working on a foldaway Spitfire Cockpit :pilotfly: Closed Open I will be starting work on the actual frame tomorrow however I have been very slowly working on the innards over the past few months. Unfortunately I seem to have misplaced pictures of the throttle so I will have to take some again... Kudos to Troll for his fabulous Simbox which inspired me "aka I stole is idea..." http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?t=1953
  15. Awesome thanks Sokol, that thread as come a long way  Unfortunately my "BBC" button is quite basic in comparison to the actual thing , I will have to see what can be done given the little space I have left  I am just collecting some images of my current project and could use your input if you don't mind, I will send you a message when I have created a thread
  16. Right you are, it is going to be tricky. I have a idea or two, once I am a bit further along I plan on bouncing the idea off the cockpit builders on this forum and see what they say :joystick:
  17. My pleasure, as I said fascinating read one of the more personal accounts I have read and a great insight to Japanese culture as well (During the war at least)... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samurai-Military-History-Ibooks-Saburo/dp/0743412834
  18. Fantastic post, thank you for sharing.
  19. Chaps don't get so hung up on this, be patient.. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2846539&postcount=21
  20. Yes it looks logical unless you have been pouring over spitfire drawings for months  :smartass: :music_whistling:
  21. Awesome, embarrassingly I have that book and don't recall reading it :lol: So I guess Mk XVI didn't have the wobble pump. :D
  22. Also if you follow the gearbox motion it currently clashes with the structure! I think this is one of the main reasons the spitfire had low elevator forces a MASSIVE leverage system.
