  1. +1 I have to disagree with all of that (apart from the cannons :D) you can't have a stable and yet manoeuvrable aircraft, aircraft engineering just doesn't work like that you can either be good at one or the other. If you don't like the Spitfire from a manoeuvring point of view I think you might be more of a boom and zoomer ;) personally I don't enjoy flying the P-51 when there are axis around :helpsmilie: I feel like I have to stick to zooming or I have to hit the silk... now I will put a caveat on this by admitting I am not a very good P-51 pilot because I think to do well you really have to have a lot of patience. If I try to deviate from boom and zooming I feel like the Mustang is an apt name, it tries to buck me off. With the spitfire I feel a lot more at home and unless I get caught with my pants down I feel safe. I can climb better, I can manoeuvre myself until I am glued to the aircraft in front of me regardless of what they try and do. If I come across an E/A with an E advantage I can either try and force them to make a mistake or I have to run for home, the mustang is no different in that respect however the spitfire suits my flying style a lot more. Ironically I have the exact opposite feeling due to my flying style, I feel like I am much safer in my Spitfire. :D
  2. I don't quite see why, you can sum the post up with... "We added rules, that annoyed a lot of people... the rules are here to stay." Now I can see why Sithspawns post is construed in a bad light, has he annoyed me with a ban hammer.... yes, did I break a rule (through gritted teeth) yes... Does that give me the right to be incredibly insulting on this or other forums, not really it is not personal. P.S. Please don't ban me for this :D;) P.S.S. I get the feeling that a lot of bad blood perhaps made its way over here from the defunct banana forums, which had an apt name people did go bananas over there... so perhaps a rule change was need to stem the tide.
  3. I hope eventually, however first they need to give us a complete west front :D
  4. Yes the 190 especially is one for this manoeuvre, they need to work on the AI especially if we are going to have AI bombers ;)
  5. +100% just because you can run doesn't mean that you can win.
  6. Yes that is my experience 109 I can take on no problem if they try to turn with me. If they run I can follow them until they make a mistake and then I a have them, I was jumped by three 109's got two of them that attempt to dogfight me and then ran for home when my ammo ran dry :D 190 if it has a speed advantage is a forced to be reckoned with! Sorry but that is just so completely incorrect, it is almost laughable! Before the Spitfire the P-51 had a hard time, it couldn't keep up it couldn't turn it was like shooting fish in a barrel unless you came across a good pilot. Now the Spitfire has arrived it is a lot safer for an allied pilot, the P-51 and Spitfire have to work together. When Burning Skies compare the stats from last year to this year you will see the impact the addition of the Spitfire has had and it won't surprise me to see the P-51 stats starting to climb back up things are not so easy for the axis side anymore. With the addition of the Spitfire XIV (hopefully this year, pretty please VEAO) and bombers that is when we will see things start to really turn around. DOWN WITH QUAKE WAR UP WITH TACTICS!!! :pilotfly:
  7. I am sure they will, with P-51s flying top cover Spits flying low to medium :D
  8. If flown well and the advantages used the P-51 is still a good aircraft online, as you have already mentioned the current fights take place low and this certainly doesn't help. If you want to mix it up with a 109 in a dogfight the spit is king right now, however the spit is slow and the P-51 can make up for that this will improve with the update. So really online they help each other out :)
  9. Wasn't that only affecting early Spitfires? See below.... https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=VjJIDAAAQBAJ&pg=PP23&lpg=PP23&dq=spitfire+a+test+pilot%27s+story+cockpit+glass&source=bl&ots=MUOWCzUujz&sig=YFFaH4B_wv6c7KOe-gpK3g80dXc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjqgty8yq7RAhXDXRQKHQ7SAuUQ6AEISDAN#v=snippet&q=distortion%201941&f=false
  10. We are expecting a brand new damage to be released (hopefully soon) that should hopefully remove these issues. P 51 is probably the worst offender in terms of AI damage model right now.
  11. Look at the manual or on chapter 7 engine management of chucks guide below... https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3Y1dhWFhKSVpPbms/view
  12. A note from a spitfire mk 2 is not particularly of use when we are talking about the IX... Mk 2 had fabric controls after all and this caused issue at high speed. We have already confirmed that the skin thickness was increased on the IX, the mk 1 was originally limited to about 350mph in a dive until they tested it to above 450 IIRC. I wil have to get the paragraph from Jeff Quills book where he discusses this.
  13. Yes, I recall that :joystick: I hope you are right, unfortunately I haven't had the time to go back and thoroughly test the dive speeds again. Perhaps firmek is right and I just overtightened the turn during my pull out.
  14. Interesting cheaper and more pixels :) http://www.roadtovr.com/lenovos-new-vr-headset-packs-pixels-lower-price-weight-rift-vive/?utm_source=Road+to+VR+Daily+News+Roundup&utm_campaign=f7fff4822c-RtoVR_RSS_Daily_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e2e394ad33-f7fff4822c-165456841 I will definitely keep an eye on new VR, my CV1 will be replaced by first to get 120Hz & 4K :D
  15. I wasn't doubting your claim. It makes perfect sense that they had to increase the thickness of the leading edge, I was just pointing out that they apparently also removed material elsewhere.
  16. Interestingly from the engineering book it says that the PR spitfire had reduced skin thickness!
  17. No word yet, however we know it won't be updated until January... No more updates planned this year
  18. I experience the same issue, Rift CV1
  19. Apparently the D wing the used a strengthened D nose, which I was unaware of. I would like to know more about this change, I assume it was to do with the addition of fuel tanks along the D nose and the pressure that they exerted on the skin. Apart from that and the lack of guns there was no difference, it wasn't until the Mk21 where any real structural changes occurred.
  20. The VII brought in changes to the fuselage not wings, IIRC the only difference between the IX and XI in terms of wings was the removal of guns and the addition of wing fuel tanks
  21. You can see this pump shown in the Pilots Notes booklets if you have one...see attachment
  22. I believe the answer is that there were two pumps, see the attachment... We have: item No.5 which is fuel pump 1 found on all IX item No.15 the wobble pump found on early/mid IX Item No.19 shown but not listed is actually the fuel pump added to mid/late IX
  23. Impressive as always :D
  24. Update... https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2989371&postcount=3
  25. Make sure you have the fuel cut off lever back i.e. set to idle.
