I hope I am not hijacking your thread but I've noticed something similar in Su-27. When I use the "F" key to toggle the flaps, while they do come up, the indicator lights show that they are down. If I use the "LCtrl - F" keys combination (which specifically lifts the flaps) the lights turn off when the flaps are in the up position. By the way, the lights on the screenshot you've posted are for the "Intake protection grids". The lights for the flaps are the ones bellow the wings in the "Mechanical Devices Indicator".

LOL :D

But it should not be a mod. With the next little update it will revert back to the same clutter. And you will have to apply the mod again. If you only have one mod that's easy. But a mod here, a mod there... To my experience, for ED, it doesn't matter how trivial or further down the list something is. If they see that it is a matter of a few code lines they make it happen right away.
-
I agree. I understand that ED is a business and want to advertise their products but most of their customers are fully aware about every single module that comes out (or is about/planned to be). In the main screen there should only be the modules that are available to play. It's a start screen. If a module hasn't been bought then it can not be started. So it really has no place in the start screen. We have the Module Manager for that. It can also be a single icon saying something like: "See what else is available..." and the user could click on it to see the rest of the modules. Kinda like the news on the left. The user can click to show/hide the news.
-
It was already reported in an older thread here. Maybe they fixed it if it doesn't occur in 1.2.8?
-
Yes, but since I mostly fly Huey in VA I don't know if this is happening also in other servers.
-
Funny thing, this just happened to me. It's not a server crash and it seems to occur in random times. I wasn't using any system. Just flying. And all of a sudden, poof...
-
I have noticed that many times when I view Huey with the F2 view it sounds like there are two or more Hueys even though there is only one. I have also noticed that if I continue pressing F2 to view other airplanes, press F1 to go inside and press again F2, once, the problem disappears. If I only press F2 once and go back to F1 view the problem remains. I have to go at least one F2 step ahead of my own Huey to another airplane for it to go away. I didn't test it in single player yet but in multi-player is very frequent.
-
From the 1.2.7 change log: Yours (and mine) flight abilities are the same as they used to be I am afraid. The flight model was wrong making it unnecessary hard. Nothing was toned down to make it easier for us. It was just corrected to match real Huey's behavior as much as possible in the digital world.

Unify Blackshark 2 upgrade and full download modules
Metal Hawk replied to Vakiwey's topic in DCS Wishlist
I avoid buying upgrades because of these problems. I don't know how feasible it is but if it could be made so that the customer could give the codes for the old and for the new, upgraded one, modules in one activation window (without having to install all the old files) would be great solution. To my understanding what puts money to EDs pockets are the activation codes. If someone uses the right codes to the right PC it shouldn't be a problem not having the whole installation of the old files. But it all depends on how the DRM works. -
I also got it once. In VA multiplayer server. It can't be wind related because, if I am not mistaken, VA server doesn't have wind to make formation flying easier. Also it happened immediately on spawn. I didn't flick a single switch.

Copilot seat height/viewing angle.
Metal Hawk replied to Metal Hawk's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
It doesn't make much sense though. If the seats are the same height the only thing that I would expect to change is that everything would be mirrored. But the height and more importantly the viewing angle should be the same. Nobody could keep his head turned away (upwards in this case) from the idle position on their neck for long period of time. P.S. Thanks for the solution. But I would like to see it as default or else I will have to re-tweak it every time there is an update. -
Does the copilot sit higher than the pilot and looks at a different angle? When I center the view in both seats it seems like the copilot is higher than the pilot and also looking a bit upwards. Is it by design?

I guess it's a mystery that only a developer from ED could shed some light. I am surprised though. These orange triangles bugged me from my first steps in black shark because there where there, but there wasn't any annotation arrow explaining them. Didn't anyone else wonder about them?
-
I tried to find information about these orange triangles I see in the manual in the ABRIS section both on ARC and HSI modes (for ex. in pages 193, 195, 274, 275) and found nothing. What are they suppose to be?

No curves here also. That's with a saitek X-52 pro. At first I tried it with curves after suggestions I read from others but at the end I've found out that it's better with no curves. Same for the pedals. But it all depend on the quality of your hardware and your personal preference.

Saitek X65 Drivers and Software for Win 8.1
Metal Hawk replied to Rabble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's probably a temporarily glitch. I have come across it too but it usually lasted a few hours or so. My suggestion is to wait for it to be fixed. It's not a good idea to install stuff in your pc from alternate sources. -
Unless you are officially an ED employee which will make what you said an official ED position in this matter, I will kindly ignore your assumptions about what ED can or can not fix or your assumptions about whose job it is to fix this or not. Unless you wrote or have access to the ED API for headtracking, how can you be so sure that the code responsible isn't in the API it self. And the reason why I made this post in ED forums is because the message informing be about the crash says that "DCS has stop working". If the message said that "freetrack has stop working" I would have posted in freetack's forums. So, please let an ED programmer judge for him/her self if he/she can to anything regarding this problem. You have shared your opinion and I have read it carefully. It just so happens that it didn't help me with this specific problem.

hawk4base, you yourself told me few posts above to buy trackir. So there is at least one person who is telling me to give a big amount of my income for a gaming gadget. And by suggesting to me to start saving "a few euro per month" is a clear insult to my intelligence. I do save "a few euro per month" but they are for covering important needs that human beings can't do without. Sure ED is not obligated to fix other peoples/companies programming issues, but, headtracker.dll was made possible because ED released their headtracking API. So they have at least a small amount of knowledge and connection to it already. And you try to make me look like I took a gun and put it in the heads of the developers and demanded to fix my problem here and now. When all I did was just informing the developers, in their official forum, in their dedicated subsection for BUGS for it's existence. The source code for both freetrack and the headtracker.dll are, as far as I know, open source. If an ED programmer can have a look at the code in his/her own free time and see that a fix is only a handful of code lines for him/her why do you want to prevent this from happening and helping others that are not as fortunate as you to be able to buy what they want? Please let ED decide if they can or can't fix problems like this.

You do realize that there are countries in eurozone where people make 300€ per month or less, right? You really think that a gadget (and from what I read in various forums a very fragile one) that costs 2/3 of a monthly salary is a viable option? My freetrack cost me 2€ and a free cap from a supermarket that gave them away for free for advertisement reasons. And that is why I made this post. To inform the developers that there is a programming issue so that they are aware about it's existence and have a look at it. As I said it occurred in windows 7 and then in windows 8. Installing a whole new version of windows isn't good enough? (DCS world was one of the first programs installed and the problem was there). There is at least one member in this forum who has the same problem: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=111262. I did ask him to try and remove headtracker.dll to confirm that this was the culprit but he didn't answer. That is why I made this post in DCS World bugs section.
-
I am sorry but, unless you are willing donate to me the amount of money trackir requires, this does not help me at all. You really think people turn to freetrack and other free alternatives because they like the hassle? You really think we didn't consider trackir our selves? Why should I spend money and do a complete re-install of my OS along with all my software when everything (except this) is working flawlessly?

The logbook is in the "User"\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor folder. It's in a lua format. If you or a friend of yours, who knows his way around lua files, can have a look and see if a bracket or something else is misplaced in there, maybe it will work again without losing your logbook data. If you delete the logbook.lua file it will probably create a new one but you will lose all your data. So keep a backup.

As many times as I tested it without using freetrack + headtracker.dll it gave me no crash. The second it's being used the crash appears. But this is just an observation from someone who knows nothing about programing. So I can't give any more help to pinpoint the problem. It was a clean install. Nothing was moved from windows 7 to windows 8 installation. By the way, windows 7 was only the world with the free Su25T and in windows 8 the crash appears to all the modules. So it's not module related.
-
I am within the games specs. I have installed everything in the link you suggested. I also should have mentioned that I have no mods (not even skins). The DCS world runs fine. The crashes appear only when headtracker.dll is being used and only on exiting a mission. If I run a mission without using freetrack everything is fine. I am really surprised that not many people who use freetrack have come upon this problem. I have a preaty clean system with updated software, drivers and virus definitions.

I have all 64bit MS VC Redistributables. The only one missing was the 2013 one which is now installed. I can't install world in C:\ because there is no space. I have already said that I ran everything as administrator. And I have tried the repair with no difference (The DCS world works fine. It's headtracker.dll as far as I can tell that causes the troubles). As for UAC and EDP (which by the way is set to: "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.") I see no reason why I should disable security features that are causing me no trouble at all (headtracker would be the first). Maybe the developers can have another look at the headtracker.dll code.
