The DirectX installer didn't do anything because it said that newer or equivalent version was already installed. The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages installed but did not fix anything. I still got the crashes on exit.
-
I have this problem for as long as I can remember. Whenever I exit any mission (multi and single player) I get an error message that dcs has crashed. It happens when the game exits the missions and tries to go the dcs menu. I suspect it's the headtracker dll. I think that it started when I made my first freetrack. Also I vaguely remember that it appeared when I moved dcs in a second partition from the C:\ drive it was before (although I can't say for sure that it actually matters in which drive dcs is installed). I also think that the headtracker.dll must be used in order for the crash to occur. If it is just in the dcs folder and not being used by freetrack it doesn't crash. I have this behavior in both windows 7 and windows 8 64bit. Most of the times when I click the error message to close it, the DCS world continues like nothing happened. But there are some times that it completely crash to desktop. On multiplayer or single missions in single player this is not a big problem. But if your are playing a campaign, a crash like that will make you lose your progress and force you to replay a mission you already won. I have tried to run with administrator privileges but it made no difference.

If you are updated and you have no mods, can you do a repair and see if it is solved this way?

For those of you that are about to buy a new joystick you might want to wait a bit. Saitek released a trailer for a new "Advanced Control Flight System" as they call it. The X-55. They don't say if it will be a HOTAS but we will know soon enough.

Don't forget that pilots also wear helmets and headphones that reduce external sounds even further. But as a workaround, have you tried to lower all the other sounds (In the DCS World manual you can find which slider affects which sounds volume) and crank up the volume of your speakers? It might be what you are after.

UV-26 Countermeasures Control Panel stays Off in autostart.
Metal Hawk replied to Metal Hawk's topic in Bugs and Problems
Start in the air? Unless you are the designer of the mission is there an option to choose where to start? Manual start is surely fast. But for those that happen to forget one critical switch will be far more slower. But it's not about speed. It's about convenience. For me it's better to have something and not use it than to need something and not have it. -
UV-26 Countermeasures Control Panel stays Off in autostart.
Metal Hawk replied to Metal Hawk's topic in Bugs and Problems
RCtrl+Win is not a bug. Yes it's best to learn how everything works. But Autostart covers another need. After you learned all the systems there is no need to torture your self with the start up procedure. Many people don't have time to go through the manual procedure in order to play for the half an hour they got to spare. Yes. But this is not a real life situation. This is a combat simulator. And people when they start their aircrafts usually they intend to blow things up. If someone wants to follow real life procedures he is free to do so. But why this should deprive from others a function that they find useful is beyond my understanding. -
EvilBivol-1, THANK YOU!!!

Thanks guys for your replies, but... My question was about the official trainings. I would like to have both (video format and mission track). First you can learn by watching the video without being anxious if you do something wrong or getting shot at and then you can train on the same mission track you have been watching. On youtube there are many tutorials but you don't have (in most cases) the exact same mission track to practice. So I guess the answer to my question is no. P.S. Gerry Abbott's tutorials are simply amazing.

I also can not hear any sound reduction from outside noise when all windows are closed. And it would be nice if there was difference in audio if pilot or copilot window is open.
-
From my point of view there are advantages and disadvantages in both. In-game training surely puts you hands-on the actual actions you have to take. But if you miss a step or if you did not understand something then you can't continue the training. On the video you can go back and forward as you please in order to understand what is going on. Plus for the in-game training you have to be on your gaming PC along with all your hardware. Videos you can take along with you and watch them almost everywhere. Youtube videos are good but it would be nice to have the official trainings in video format also.
-
Are the in-game training missions available in video format? It would be great to be able to watch them even away from the gaming PC.

I think that is better we all agree that the whole thing was just a big misunderstanding. After all, our hobby is in a very small market that is getting smaller and smaller. It's not good to have misunderstandings amongst us. My wish is that ED will rethink about not including beta modules in future sale. Just a little more space between first release and first sale and I think everyone will be happy.

If I recall correctly FC3 started at 60$ (or was it A-10C I can't remember exactly). But even at 50$ isn't it the regular price? Hip and Huey are new products. Every product starts in higher prices due to the fact that they have to cover for the production cost. After this is covered then the price goes down (price drop on a sale is a whole different matter). That's what happened to A-10C and Ka-50 and that is what will happen to Huey and Hip and any other product. So, no matter how to look at it it's not premium at all. It's just a regular price which give to the customer who paid regular price exactly... 0 premium advantages over the customers that bought the same product at a sale. And 50$ for you is premium, the other products for you are under priced. Which is the regular price?
-
Premium price? Forgive me (and please correct me if I'am wrong) wasn't it a regular price that they paid? Since when regular price became premium? -ED is making these sales for long time now. They obviously saw profit in them so they continued doing them. Now that they will limit them they will also limit their income. So ED loses. -People without chubby wallets who could only afford to buy modules in these sales are also affected. -And all those that called them selves supporters of ED who made all this trouble, the once who where saying: "I will never buy at full price. Never again.", well... from now on they will also have to wait for the limited per year sales to "Never pay again in full price". And only for modules that come out of the beta stage. For how long is the Huey labeled as beta (and counting)? So, pretty much almost everybody had something to lose from all this fuss.
-
So, according to you, all that happened the last few days that led to the decision from ED to never make sales for beta products that would benefit many members is a good thing. And, on the other hand, still according to you, stating the obvious, that at the end everybody loses (even if one has to rely to big bold font in order to get the message across), is something that deserves face palm sarcasm. But, that's the thing. All this commotion was from those that call them selves supporters of ED. How are they supporters when they ask to get money back?

Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2

I case you missed it: And my thoughts (I am giving a link so that I don't duplicate): http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1889594&postcount=14 -
This would be trouly nice however... The engine of DCS world is very old. Not much can be done without extreme labor (if at all). Even the new menu layout is separate from the engine because it's not compatible. That's why EDGE is being developed. I would too like to be able to adjust the volume of in-game sounds (to lower them when using teamspeak). But if it is too much work I'd rather wait for EDGE. It doesn't hurt though to through some ideas like this one for consideration.

On another post a few days back I wrote this: A few days later we get this: I hope all of those that gave ED and Belsimtek the hard time they didn't deserve are very happy now with their selves. I wrote that all this commotion will hurt members that are not that fortunate (financially speaking). As it turns out it hurt everyone. From now on no sales in per-purrchase beta modules and probably less sales throughout the year for everyone.

+1000 This part of the world has everything. Forests, valleys, mountains, desert, sea, islands and many different countries to cover any possible scenario a mission designer could think of. The whole world would be great but we have to aim for realistic goals. I would rather have a small part of the world made with great detail than the whole world made by cutting corners in order for the developers to be able to deliver it.

You are welcome. I am glad I could be of some help.

It's in your User\Saved Games\DCS folder surprisingly named: "logbook.lua" :). But before you do anything make sure to make a backup copy because if you mess it up even the game might not start. Also don't use windows notepad. Use notepad++ or some other clean editor. As for what to change in there... I don't know.
-
Where they training missions? I think training missions don't register to logbook. I think that at least flight hours and landings should count.

11 Pictures of Abandoned Russian Mi-8...
Metal Hawk replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I would grab the cockpit and mod it to work with DCS. That's as close to reality as it gets. Best home simulator ever!!! -
Training Missions dont count towards Logbook
Metal Hawk replied to VanjaB's topic in Bugs and Problems
It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I too don't understand why at least flight hours don't register. I vote for changing this.
