------Well, I do hope so. And I do hope ED business get more and more booming. Thus they can invest much and hire more devs and boost the develop of official or 3rd party's maps. May some day, when I open the editor, there are dozens of terrain to choose, like we did in ArmA3's editor.
-
--------Not just a complain, Just feel the the slow progress of terrain developing if compared with Jets developing. Currently we've got pretty number of jets, 2~3 new one each year. But the maps, whoops, only aging Caucasus is stable. The Nevada is still in alphal stage after 3 years work. I just worry and feel ED's maket strategy is not that right. They devote too much resources on Jets. But Maps are more attactive than jets. Maps can sell good price. I bet you would like to pay 100 dollar for detailed Iraq or Afghanistan to fly in your beloved A-10C.
-
ED dedicates to develop all kinds of Jets simulator from old era to modern times. But the terrain developing lags quite behind. The caucasus is 10+years old, the Nevada and Normandy is still in Alpha stage. And we might wait another whole year to embrace the DSC World 2.5..... I just want to say this is quite unwise market strategy. A new jet can only attract a few of players who love the jet. But a new terrain arena could absorb a bunch of players to try their flight in it. No matter casual one or hard core. More terrain, more freshing, more vitality, more profit. Don't just depends on the veteran to buy some classical jets to swell your wallet. And don't estrange the Steam platform. Speed up the terrian developing, Middle-east, Afghanistan, Siberia-Alaska, Korea peninsula, South-east Asia.....

FPS DROP WHEN ZOOM
Lao Fei Mao replied to shonist's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I randomly got 1~3 seconds freeze even if not zoom in. It seems that the latest version can't handle the pagefiles very well. -
-------Dunno if it works if I shutdown the pagefile in system, cause I have 16gb physical memory, should be enough to live without the pagefiles.
-
---------Since 1.53 version, good performance came along with at least 16GB RAM+4G VRAM.
-
-----I don't think it would broke the visual functions of the cockpit, take a look at the some flight school training cabinet, a big screen in front of a cockpit, they may change the field of view on the screen, but can't change the physical cockpit.
-
------No, you misunderstood me. I want wider FOV, whilst don't want the cockpit be distorted while look around, it makes me feel I enters a warp space, that's not real, right?
-
From the day one of FC1.0 to nowaday dcs world, I notice that the cockpit always distort along with the outside view if zoom out, or we use wider FOV. That would degrade the experiece when we look around in cockpit. And I've found that only if set the FOV at 50, the cockpit then keep its shape, but most of us would like 100+ FOV while flying. So I comes out this idea, keep away the cockpit from the FOV change. I think it's shouldn't be that hard technically. And I know that some games indeed achieve this. For example, Payday2, FC4 or BF4, even you set the FOV to the max value, the rifle in hand doesn't distort, while most shoot games like ArmA3 however failed to do so, the wider FOV, the thinner and longer the rifle becomes. How do you think about it, Devs?

Where has the high definition Caucasus DLC map gone?
Lao Fei Mao replied to Lao Fei Mao's topic in DCS 2.9
Hi guys, thanks a lot for the intel. -
Why the improved texture Caucasus DLC disappeared from the DLC MAP sub forum? Where can I bought it? Can't find it in Steam shop or ED shop. Just curious.:music_whistling:

General ways to improve game performance?
Lao Fei Mao replied to JazonXD's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Since 1.50 version, ED has moved most of caculation into GPU. And from my personal experience, the NV card runs better than AMD card in DSC. -
Caucasus Map Texture DLC by Starway
Lao Fei Mao replied to Starway's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Will you publish it on Steam? Or DCS shop? -
I prefer buy NTTR from steam too.

Low GPU and CPU usage but LOW FPS also...why?
Lao Fei Mao replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Same here,I think one main reason is the DCS engine doesn't take good use of the CPU multi-thread or core.No matter 4 or 8 cores your CPU is , there are only 2 cores served for the engine. Another reason is the particle effects, which will drastically low the fps while multiple explosion happens simutaneously. -
I'm a native Chinese, how can I help?
-
As far as the current hardware, it couldn't be achieved that a vast terrain as detailed as the arma3's altis. The DCS's terrain details are actually as poor as the OFP's island, except for the airport surrounding area.

China player really need Chinese language support
Lao Fei Mao replied to qq515616480's topic in DCS Wishlist
As a native chinese speaker, I would say that if a chinese GUI were presented, then much more chinese players would flood in. But just as Prophet said ED would sacrifice their precious time to do that, they are more intentioned to create more aircrafts to sell. -
Hi, guys, if I buy the combined arms on Steam, may I retrieve the key and install it on my DCS world standalone? I really don't want to waste my humble SSD space to install another dcs world under the steam library
-
Good news. But it would be better if the E-shop could support the Alipay. Alipay is as credible as Paypal. I have no usd credit card, so each time I have to ask others to help me buy modules. A bit of inconvenient.

You can press right ctrl+numpad "+" to trace a missile fired from your jets, and freely move the camera, if only the camera is not kept behind of the missile, the sound gonna be quite low.
-
I agree too. I just beg more clickable mordern combat jets and a middle-east desert theatre.
