  1. I have made my opinon well known on this forum with regards to Australias air defence and offence projection and again the opposition minister is mouthing off without due consequence. The Super Hornet is being purchased to replace the F-111 in the strike role. It is able to do this in conjunction with the newly tested JASSM stand-off missile. All F-111 crews will be converted to the Super Hornet with priority emphasis on strike capability. Further down the line A2A will enter the sylibus. The F-111 will be retierd approx 2012 without further extention of life. No question about that. 3, 75 and 77 Sqn's will most likely be operating the Classic Hornet until 2020 with further intergration of the Super Hornet as undoubtably more will be purchased. When the F-35 starts to be delivered, the sqn's will be refomed to have F-35's in the former F-111 Sqn's and also in the fighter sqn's. The Super Hornet will operate along side the F-35's as will the remaining Classic Hornets until there airframe time is completely used. Australias defence has always been a political one, the surrounding countrys have feared the F-111 but in its may years of service, it has only every been used once (in a recon/strike role). That will be the same for the F-22 if down the line it becomes avalable, a small number providing 'political air cover' of australias coast and economic exclusion zone. The F-35 together with the Super Hornet and the Wedgetail will provide a superior air-networked coveage than any amount of poorly networked 'Flanker Class' fighters over a broud northern front. And to quote cocktail "And thats the bottom line!" :)
  2. The student was fine but i think the instructor was medicaly relived of flying duties... Its been a while since i read the incident report. It was a NTFC Mk 127 Hawk
  3. I am not fammilar with the saturation point that you are talking about but may I assume that this would be a function of temperature and pressure, as all phase conditions are, that is why you have the triple point of water. As for the rocket fuel that makes sense, 2(H) + O2 = 2(H2O) which has a translucent flame (out of the visible spectrum), as opposed to the old kero rockets which spue forth all manner of crap :) =Prophet= could you please link the orignal thread as i would like to know what the other explantion is. Cheers mate.
  4. Yes that is true from the exhaust, but that is for air breathing engines, (air contains water) therefore the rapidly cooling water will condense. This may not be the case for internal oxident engines i.e. rockets, as the only rapid cooling of water must come from the heating of the enviromental water first by the rocket, then the return to temperature equlibrium via the cold ambiant air.
  5. This SU-25T skin is based off the RAAF 76 Sqn livery, used for fighter pilot training. This skin compliments ED's 'Aggressor" skins to be used for BFM training in the SU-25T (one of my favourite things to do! especialy internal cannon only :)) This skin is using the same ED FTS emblem as my Hi Vis SU-25A Skin This skin is avalable at lockonfiles.com
  6. Just finished this skin not long ago, this is training skin for the SU-25A using the awsome SU-25A skin template. A simple skin but one that aids the pilots in finding each other. This skin is based apon the RAAF "fanta can" liverys used on the CT-4b, PC-9A and Macchi back in the day. One of my favourite Hi Vis skins for you all :) This skin is avalable on lockonfiles.com http://lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=72#cat Third from the bottom
  7. I just got my touchscreen also and OMG this is great, the level of work done on this allows anyone to just plug and play with nothing else requiered. I think its a great piece of work. ED should seriously think about forming a colaboration with touchbuddy. It would definatly be a first in the market!
  8. As far as my understanding of contrails, they are actualy condensation trails, such that the rapid cooling of predominatly water causes the contrail 'cloud'. Granted, there is not much water in a rocket motor but the surrounding enviroment would contribute to the contrail. Therefore any missile traveling in the correct pressure region would create some contrail independant of the fuel used. I may be wrong, possibly reagents in the fuel would self condense or catalyse condensation.
  9. Good find Anytime, there we go, no F-22's for us to fly under the southern cross :(
  10. I concur with Camoman. Its always better to be prepared than be left wanting. The F-111 acted as a political deterent, as will the F-22 if acquired
  11. I should clarify what i said, the 24 Super Hornets are basicly confirmed but the F-22's are still on the discussion table. Yes I acknoledge that the F-22 is not for export but that is only for now, we are confident that if a formal offer is made that an arangement can be organised considering Australias close ties to the US. But like GG said they are at this present moment in time, including the fact that there have been no official offers, the F-22 is not for export.
  12. I have it on good authority that the RAAF will get 24 Super Hornets to work in conjunction with the F-35. We were looking at geting the strike eagle but interms of airframe numbers and conversion costs, the Super Hornet wal a clear winner even if it is inferior in most respects to the new Strike Eagle. I also have it on good authority that the F-22 is still on the table in conjunction with the F-35 and Super Hornet. Some thing on the order of 6 F-22's, 80-100 F-35's and 24 F/A-18 E/F's This has been all but confiremed... remember you heard it here first.
  13. Hi guys, I was reading a few of the FSX teams papers that thery wrote about the terain genereation techique that they developed and was wondering if any of your team have any papers to do with Lockon? It was stated somewhere that there are 5 PhD's on the team and i would very much like to read their papers, even if its not Lockon related. Cheers
  14. I know i sound like a broken record but... I realy hope ED decides to implement a dedicated prop traning aircraft. Something such as the T-6 Texan II would be awesome. There is already a lot of information about that aircraft out and should be reletivley simple to intergrate into Lockon (or equivelent). Personaly i would like it if they modeled the CT-4b, PC-9A, Hawk Mk127, F/A-18A... I can dream :)
  15. The second option is the way to go! Multirole aircraft is generaly the most important, exciting and ultimately most satisfying aircraft to fly combat in, evidence, almost every airforce in the world operates mainly multirole fighters (F/A-18, F-16) I would love for the F-16 to be included in the new sim but if i had to choose, the hornet would win every time. ...stop... its hornet time! woh, w,woh... (etc, insert M C Hammer song with hammer replaced by hornet) BTW Iam not sure about this but is the proposed MiG-29 K simmilar to the MiG-29 SMT? I saw the clip of that on youtube and it looks like an excelent rival to the F/A-18. For some reason the 29 flying around with kh-29t looks awesome!
  16. Pilotasso If you look carefully you can see the votexes though the ectoplasm in all images. BTW Komarov great shots, these realy shw the complexity and the combination of airflow characteristics that occur simultanously :)
  17. I think if a bit of solid reaserch is done of the ectoplasm effects, i.e: - intensity as a function of AOA - length as a function of velocity and atmospheric conditions - correct vortex movement over wings and vortex bursting if these are implemented than this would raise the bar to ED and any other sim developer to create realistic ectoplasm rather than the F4 'white streaks' All that being said, anything is better than nothing :)
  18. As if the F-22 sucks... :music_whistling: Seriosley though, as we can all plainley see, BS is going to be focused on Ground engagements, thats why we will get WAFM for vihr and not for AMRAAM. The next ED product better thougth. :)
  19. I agree with shamandgg about those tweaks, should not be too dificult to implement. This model looks so awsome and is only going to get better! I was wondering if it is posible to animate the pilot as a function of view position as when iam flying I often grab the handles infront of me to get a bit of leaverage to look behind (orany thing that doesnot say 'dont grab' for that matter). When looking right i even have to change hands on stick some times. I have seen this done in some fighter clips on patrics aviation, especialy the high aspect bfm hornet video. Just an idea but i think that it would add a further 'human' element to the sim, a bit of animation on the pilots side. (yes iam aware that this mainley occurs during high G manouvers but it is still relevent at 1 G)
  20. Nicely done! have been looking forward for this for a lonng time!
  21. wrt what Merlin555 was saying with the pylons, on the su-25t at least (havent checked the vanila) the outer most pylons are only installes when there are stores attached, (ECM and R-60) EDIT: also think that this should be made sticky
  22. Nice job mate A realy important step for the community. Keep refining it, as all the hard work is done (mostly) :)
  23. Love it. For some reason this clip reminds me of the good old TAW days...
