I pen an open letter to Eagle Dynamics

There's no evidence to support that claim (Cut out most cause the multiquotes lengthening my post.) To the first - you deleted one persons repetitive posts, which were responses to other -not deleted- repetitive posts (with underline tones of "hurdur your a retard for even suggesting this!!!"). Either which way, he voiced his opinion. Argument went back and forth. Whatever. This goes to my second point. I'm not arguing your removing of the posts in fact I support it (see: ridiculous ENTIRELY FICTION analogy in previous post [sorry if there is a Joe Smith on these boards]). However I feel about the situation, I'm not going to debate people about it here anymore than I'm going onto a xbox 360 forum to tell them how much the 360 sucks. Ofcourse not. It's business. You try to please as many as you can. Their last compromise saved face in my eyes and I already made another purchase. Sure, if he stopped right after his "Thank you" then it would have been great. He couldn't leave it at that nor could others refrain from jumping in on the mud slinging. That is unfortunate. -

Ya know, I can only agree with part of your post here. Ya, I'm disappointed to lose out on some planes - but in the end I'm ok with it. At least they gave us a choice in which planes. They saved face, in my eyes. However, the suspicious, cynical side of me still looks at the situation and questions how things REALLY went down. Everybody is assuming RRG went down in flames and ED rushed in to save the day. That's all it is tho. An assumption. ED won't give us the details. One way or another - we got our fall guy. Ilya is gone and it's all his fault... Right? Anyways, I'm not going to go on about it. The people (or one in particular) who've brought the discussion elsewhere have done so BECAUSE THEY WERE SILENCED HERE. That doesn't make them childish or any other insult you want to throw their way. Their posts deleted. Their comments argued down by petty insults. They had no choice to bring it up elsewhere. Separate from that specific situation, I don't blame ED. It's their private forum. This forum is NOT the US, and therefor posters do not have any rights to say what they want to say. In fact, I expect ED to quickly shoot down or remove any posts which contain accusations - false or not. Ya, it lends to more suspicion - but consider the alternative... Example. "Joe smith" has a blog. A reader posts "Joe Smith is a pedaphile". If Joe smith lets the post remain then others may see it and believe it - regardless of accuracy. If he deletes it, then people will say it must be true and he's covering it up! Right? Well, maybe it's not and he simply doesn't want that accusation on his blog. Back on topic - Ofcourse their complaints will be removed. They're serious accusations. However BECAUSE they can't voice & discuss here, they will go elsewhere. You can't honestly expect people to just shut up... However this could be solved if ED wasn't all "We aren't going to discuss the details". -
I thought there was a list somewhere, thanks. So ignoring the 190 since I've no interest, next two are the 109 & Spit. I had no idea the Spit was so far along... I remember pictures for the P-47 cockpit & front end, but no updates for the Spit. Assuming typical delays, probably see the 109 in December and the Spit in March? :D
-
Good stuff. I think this was a very strong decision and can say you've ensured future income from my wallet. When I backed @ $40 I pledged for 3 and was happy to see a 4th. Didn't know/realize we were getting a Dora & Mustang, always thought our DCS keys would just "be good" on both World/WWII(us owning a key would unlock access to the plane as does in DCS:World). So I don't feel as I'm losing much at all with this compromise. Now I just have to choose my two picks with the third to be bought later... Any idea what the production looks like? Clearly the 109 is first.. That'll probably be one of my choices.
-
Your right about the 6. I'm wrong. I have that same page, btw. I finally received access to my backer page last week and was the first I'd seen of getting more than the RRG 4. In fact I chose none because it seemed an error. Tho they are listed as "WWII". I dug through old posts, nothing with solid confirmation one way or another. Finally found the specifics in one of their KS updates. He does in fact list the "WWII" P-51 & Dora counterparts as available. I backed @ the 3 when "stretch goal planes" were all that was extra.
-
Edit: I've been corrected. I was wrong about flyable crafts.

So I should not respond to posts when people are flat out wrong in their comments about this situation? I spoke my piece before, but since have read post after post of people repeating misinformation. (I'm assuming misinformation & not that they are intentionally making up facts.) so I brought the facts. I've corrected people. In fact there was another thread where this "$20" meme was being pushed. It was corrected and then the thread disappeared. I'm guessing merged with this one since it's where I end up when clicking on it. I understand merging due to similarity of the topic but it should have been left alone. The correction was within the first 5 or 6 posts. Now it's buried here amongst 20-some and growing pages.
-
Edit: I stand corrected
-
People keep pushing misinformation. We are NOT going to be able to buy the WWII modules for $20. It's simply not true. The "$20" was attached to explain ED "values" the modules at $20 for purposes of the rewards. Hence $40 backers get 2 modules, $60 backers get 3. Further, I'm reading a lot of posts with people saying "oh you thought your getting 6 planes for $40? Lol stupid!" No. When I backed it was 3 planes. Spit, tub & 109. The me262 was reached when we hit goal. I don't know at what point this "6 planes" crap came in but it certainly happened AFTER backing was complete. Even on the kickstarter page the SOONEST we were offered a DCS module was @ $65 $65 Backers DCS World Tier 1. Everything at the $40 level, plus a digital copy of DCS World P-51D Mustang (on successful kickstarter completion). $85 Backers DCS World Tier 2. Everything at the $50 level, plus a digital copy of DCS World FW-190D-9 with beta access (when available in early 2014). Estimated delivery: Feb 2014 Add $12 USD to ship outside the US So let's just stop BSing each other here. Your not getting future discounts on planes just because you backed and you certainly didn't come into the kickstarter expecting 6 for $40. Considering the "sales" prices on the modules, even for just the 3, it wasn't far fetched. $13 & change/module. Just a little better than catching the Mustang or Warthog on sale. That's when the large majority of backers got in it. We hit the stretch goal for the me262 which just sweetened things. The reason why people (like myself) are unhappy with the way this stacks isn't because we aren't getting 6 planes. It's because we're getting a smoke screen. At $40, I would have still been pleased with 2 of the original 3 and just been understanding of the fact that "ok, well at least they're honoring 50% of what was promised. I would have simply waited til the 3rd went on sale to pick it up. Instead what I got is the Dora at near full price. A plane I hadn't prepurchased nor planned on purchasing because I had very little interest in it when considering other planes I own/will own. In fact I MAY had bought it on sale, but even then I would have most likely skipped it. So yes. I'm unhappy. This is why a lot of us are unhappy. Not because this magical "6" planes bs. Because we got force fed 1 plane for full price. Say what you will about us getting the 'stang key. It's worth $0 when you already have a copy. Plain and simple.

Replying on my phone so this may not be well formatted & I'll be cutting my response down quite a bit. Your right, it does imply they knew it would happen - however I'm starting to feel perhaps they knew more than we give them credit. Ok. I'm just bein cynical, maybe... When this all started, RRG claimed they could afford to do it with or without the kickstarter success. This was simply the diff of a better time frame. They also stated they had talks with ED on how they were going to go about accomplishing it and had ED's approval. We don't know WHY this all happened & it's been nothing but speculation. Wags stated they wouldn't go into details on why, just that "they absorbed most RRG employees and are pickin up the project". Something I believe a lot are overlooking is that ED also absorbed the work done & whatever funds they had (kickstarter & otherwise). You mentioned the cost of 6 modules but there's only 4. Maybe 3, assuming the 109 is virtually done, save for textures. The large amount of work done to the map and other planes. I won't argue it's still going to cost money for them to complete, but it's also not that they're picking up a project which had zero accomplished. Your also correct in that they could have simply scrapped it. Tho they would have to face the brunt of angry customers who backed with confidence that ED was approving of it all. Wrong or right. I think a lot of people who are siding with the "backers are lucky to get anything & ED is losing by honoring the project" are assuming the only people who will be interested in DCS:WWII are the backers & there won't be modules sold otherwise. I think this is wrong. There were a lot who were interested but had no faith on RRG & were going to wait til release... Maybe I'm wrong tho & the only people who will (or, would had) buy WWII modules are those of us who backed. Lastly, there is no discount for the planes we don't get for our pledges. That would, to a small extent, would ease the blow. Unfortunately some people misunderstood Wags original post & the misinformation keeps getting repeated. Sith - to the map, I'm not valuing it as "nothing" in terms of we don't need/want it. I'm placing a "value" in terms of cost & out pledge. It was supposed to be "free" like DCS World, Georgia. It should still be free. If they turned around & told me I had to buy it, I wouldn't. I also wouldn't buy anything further.. Granted, I felt they were nuts saying "all planes would be free" when they were deciding how to sell things. You'll remember there was much talk about voting for 1 free plane w Normandy map. I'm also slightly confused to the WWII-dcs:world debacle as I've always been under the impression it would be maps & modules within DCS:World & those who didn't have WWII planes would still be flying w us in their mustangs & Dora's. Infact when I considered upping my pledge for alpha access I thought about what to do with my Extra Mustang key... Ultimately I decided not to increase my pledge.
-
No, you get 2. The Mustang & Dora. Basically, ED just sold a BUNCH of Dora's for $40 Don't be fooled by the "free" map. The p51 key won't be much value anymore either since the community is going to be saturated in p51 keys.
-
Selfish. Ya. All I'm gettin out of what I pledged is a map - that was originally - and should still be - free. Ya, good ol selfish me. Wanting a bit of what I was promised. I have the mustang module. I didn't pledge for, nor planned to buy, the Dora. But wait!! I can TRADE my keys. Ok. WTT - my P51 key for your P47! K thx. Any takers? Oh. Wait. Nobody is going to be willing to do that, maybe because they already have the p51? 1 key is as good as 10? Breaking things down the way they did is fine - they just chose to put the wrong planes first. Rewards should focus around the planes we pledged for. Not this bait and switch. Give away the key? Only people who I know that are into sims already have it. Those who don't ARE NOT interested in investing the time & money to get into flight sims.
-
That is how they're valuing each module to your reward. @ $40 you get two planes, thus valued @ $20/each. When they're released they WILL be full priced until they go on sale. We aren't getting a discount on purchase because we are backers. It was confirmed by Sith in the update thread somewhere between page 8-12. Found it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2111171&postcount=106

While I disagree with the method, honestly the reasoning is clear. On paper they cut 1 plane & gave us 2. It fools enough to feel like they still get something. In reality, they cut 1, they gave us a cheap consolation prize (mustang) and we got 1 plane. Which - for anybody who hadn't purchased it already - was likely to wait for it to go on sale (read: less than $40). The planes we actually pledged for and are waiting for, will be sold at full price.... Unless we wait even longer for them to go on sale as well. If things really play out like this - ill likely not purchase another module unless it's heavily discounted - and even then I'd have my reservations. These WWII planes wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for the interest & backing of the Kickstarters.
-
I understand the biggest cost is development. Which is why regular prices are $50. Which is why everybody else who didn't back the kickstarter will be stuck paying full price or waiting for them to go on sale. Make them account bound, do something special in place of the rewards that were multiple copies. However in this case they're skimping us on 2-3 planes. We were shorted 1 plane, most of us have the mustang and A LOT of you got the Dora. Why even do this switch on us anyway? Why are we getting the Dora & Mustang? Why not start with planes we backed? Oh, because they still need to be developed? Ok. I'll wait.

I've been patient and quiet since I found out about the whole thing last month. I put in $40 because that's what would get me all the "new" planes. If I remember correctly, the Dora & Mustang were Not part of that originally. I considered upping my pledge but ultimately did not because I already own the mustang & am not very interested in the Dora. Last week the "best" information I could find was "$40 backers were getting all wwii planes + Mustang & Dora" which seemed like too much. I had an option to choose all available planes in my backers section. Now I read this and find out I'm locked into a Mustang & Dora? That's not ok. I think it's safe to say a large majority of backers already own the Mustang, and those who do not, aren't interested in having it. I don't need or want a second copy of the Mustang. I would also much prefer the other aircraft to the Dora... Or else I would have bought the module, before it was any part of the kickstarter program. The 262 was added on as a goal. I suggest you give the $40 backers the 109, Spit & P-47, as we'd originally signed up for. Give the 262 to higher level backers. Then give the option tho backers at higher level between the mustang and Dora, where that level reward is offered. If it's purely economically NOT possible, then I suggest this. Backers have a choice of planes at their level (IE: $40 may choose any 2 WWII aircraft) then give us a non-transferable vouchers to purchase other WWII keys @ $15-20. Maybe even a second with a lesser discount. However as I review this post, cutting us short on digital copies of goods due to economics is a cop out. It costs nothing to create digital copies. As for the physical copies.. That's a different story. I could see having to substitute some of those with discount vouchers. "As we get closer to the launch of DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora in August 2014, we are working on a mechanism to provide an Alpha copy to $40 and up contributors." That's like a slap in the face right there. Seriously? Your going to give access to the Dora a less than a month before "release"?? Sorry, but this looks like a smoke screen. Come on guys, you can do better than this.

Wow thanks for the quick response! Didn't expect one that quick lol I'll be sending you a PM about ordering one

So yesterday I noticed suddenly I had a very ODD feel to my stick. In one direction it'd have Much less resistance than the rest. Its also binding up.. So I open it up with a strong inclination of the cause, and sure enough... Looks like I need a new o-ring... was hoping it'd just be in need of a good lubing! How are those custom ones you've made comin along? Still have extras? Edit: Forgot to add -the top of the stock o-ring split off of the rest. It seems like it Was glued or some such - its of a different texture than the rest of the o-ring. I just ripped the rest of it off, its not thick at all tho. Stuffed the rubber ring back in place. I have a feeling it came out of place because after putting the stick back together I still had the same issues as mentioned above. Soft spots, catching. I didnt re-lube because initial tear down was for inspection. Didn't have grease on hand.

I read about this a while ago, but thought it was fixed. I never noticed it and once I read of it, I looked for it, finding I'm not experiencing it. However I do have some heavy stuttering - not frame rate drops- when looking around on the "Take Off" instant action missions. Seems to be the only time I have the issue.

Is this really as complicated as it looks?
Siq6Six replied to markwilliam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Soo.. My first attempt at "flight sims" was Cliffs of Dover. Hardly had a clue as to what I needed to bind to fly.. Then it kept crashing, so I just uninstalled it. Was actually after playing Warthunder that I found I wanted Mooaarr!! :D So I picked up the HOTAS Warthog & DCS A-10C. I grabbed a snack-bag full of peanut butter filled pretzels & watched the tutorials. It's really not that complicated once you understand the basics. Anyways, to each his own. Since you have the P-51 (and assuming you enjoy it) maybe you can trade your A-10C key for a FW190 key once it's released.. -
Still waiting to hear back from my dad.... Been 24 yrs. Guess I need to cancel my... Err... Ya right. Quit being so emo, Ami.

Ya.. Was hoping it was something I did wrong & could correct. Haven't visited the forum in a day or two, but there are no "unread" topics in the A-10C subforum...

Nobody has any fix huh? Even with tapatalk, unread topics still show as read after if the last post is older than ~45 min old.
