Maybe it's a hint that we need more activity around here! :D Bringing back the dead thread... So close to Halloween! How... On topic? Buahahha On that topic, its not something people catch flak from mods for. Just let em die. Unless your doing more than just commenting. Like posting a question/problem your experiencing in which the thread was originally created for, thus avoiding multiple threads seeking answers to the same problem. Or updating such thread with a recent fix or work around. Or updating to a thread which serves as a timeline - like a story or build progression. There have been some interesting & funny posts when people bring back a dead thread, others don't notice the date & comment as if its all recent.

Heh. I had the same issue. My google-foo revealed a thread which explained it very well. You need to change your position grid from 37T to 38T and your KM-coordinates will no longer point you an hour trip to the Northwest! Found the thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83178&highlight=JTAC+coordinates

Glad to read that the skins have to be installed locally in order to see them. Won't be unexpectedly traumatized while attacking artillery! No seriously, it was funny when it was a thing that briefly happened many years ago... Or ok, I guess, if your trying to spark your young daughters (or sons?) interest in flight... But some of these guys take this MLP/HK crap too far. There's nothing cool about grown men donning stuff targeted for very young little girls. It's effing creepy & nothing short of a bag of paracord & a box of razorblades can't solve. Makes ya wonder if they been caught slow-driving by schools trying to "pass out" free candy...

PAPADOC FLYING A-10...wishing it was Pink hehe
Siq6Six replied to papadoc's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I have had no issue accidentally destroying friendlies with mavericks. Make sure your you've selected your missiles on the MFCD. If you've set your TGP to a target, slave all sensors (thus mav is as well) to your target. Once you get within range, short TMS up w/ Mav MFCD set as SOI & it'll lock. Launch. Watch target go boom :D To rearm - Land, Open Cockpit and with VHF AM on correct channel setting (should be already if you contacted ATC for your landing) - Call ground crew to rearm/refuel. -
If there is one, where do I UNCHECK it? Anytime I visit the forum, if I read 1 thread, when I back out to the subforum everything is marked as read (No longer bolded). I don't recall ever have clicked any setting and haven't found one when I browsed the User CP. I do what I have always done after reading a thread - Click on the thread string above to jump back to the forums. Even when using the back-button on the browser, it still shows all threads as read. Yeah, its minor but its damn annoying. Now I'm lookin @ the time of last post, or if a thread I posted in last still has my name as "Last Posted" or not. This is happening on my iPad & Firefox on my desktop. I'm sure its not the browser, so it MUST be user error. Anybody know what I derped up so I can un-derp it? Been doin this since just after the WWII Europe kickstarter ended. Edit: Update #1: Just to throw this out there... I *know* I haven't read the threads about Rocket|Bomb Delay or Drop Tanks P-51 Forum. However only the Flat Spin thread showing unread? I'm under suspicion that maybe the site is only bolding threads that are unread and been posted to within the last 15/30/60 min? Since I posted this topic I've noticed only bolded threads had a post within a few minutes of my current time. Not too sure how long until they expire tho?? Edit: Update #2: The Flat Spin thread is now +40 min old. It is no longer bolded, but I have not viewed it. So now I am sure this issue is tied to an expiration timer. I went thru my User CP again. The closest thing I could find to an option is the "No longer display threads after [X days/weeks] old" - Which would remove them entirely, not just unbold/marked as read. So still not sure whats going on... any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Anchoring him for the landing is a good idea, he did almost crash into me that mission when I RTB'd to rearm. I looked behind me just as I was about to throttle up & pull off when I saw him banking to the south. After watching I'm fly in circles is when I later ordered him to RTB. I guess I could see some people getting upset were this to happen to them. I find it hilarious tho, but as I've been clocking time in the seat, I'm finding I enjoy it more and more. I just thought I'd share a good laugh - and that there was a part 2 & 3 was just more to add!
-
Last night I ran one final mission. All went perfect. It was great. I RTB'd once to rearm and had my wingman do the same. Unfortunately, by the time he finally arrived, I was out of patience & ready to head off on my own. Not to mention, the genius parked with his nose facing the fence. (Is there any way to successfully get your wingman to rearm & head off for a second fly out?). I took off on my own. Flyin solo - oh yeah! Destroy several more targets - now having assisted Darknight -and- moonbeam, and head back to base. The sun had set, natural lighting conditions were poor, but all was good. I made my approach towards base different then my typical, long, slow glide in. While waiting for the wingman to land I watched his method of landing and thought "hey, that was even smoother than what I've been practicing!" So I copied it. Landed nice and gently, this time being slow enough to be under nose-wheel control half way down the runway. I taxi to parking at the next turn off (my normal is barely slowing down in time for the angled turn off, 2nd from last... Batumi, that is) So I slowly taxi down to the parking area. Since I'm done with the mission I decide I'll park next to my wingman - nose facing the fence. Slowly I turn, triple checking I'm not going to clip his wing with mine. And then.... BOOM! Explosions! WTF! No, I didn't hit my wingman. It seems the game spawned in another A-10C, beside me - as I came to a stop. The fuselage was right outside my cockpit as everything went to flames. I'm like "OMFG!" It seriously made me jump lol. I couldn't believe it - after I did so well this mission, I die at the very end? The debrief screen loads up and the pop up screen - "You've been promoted to Captain!" Lol.
-
Bahaha! Karma is a bitch! Flew a quick mission before dinner, tried to get my wingman to take out two tanks as I was out of Mavs. Did he run in? No. Did he do anything? Uhh.. He flew past the target and continued towards the mountains. I F2'd to view him b ause I was wondering why he hadn't attacked. Went back to cockpit view, looped back til I could verify my camera was still on the tank before setting autopilot. Flipped back to view my wingman and what do I see? The guy flying near a mountain, climbing. Then poof! He couldn't climb hard enough and crashed into it!

So I decided I didn't want to have to keep taking my hands off the HOTAS to make radio commands and setup VAC +AutoHotKey. Fired up the campaign and wheels up. JTAC gives me a mission. While eliminating tanks I take a few shots to my left engine, limiting power to 80%. Once the immediate object is completed I decide its best to rearm, refuel and repair. So I take my sweet time lining up to the runway. Get clearance from ATC to land and make a Slow approach in - throttles split quite a bit to equalize power as I descend. I'm just short of the runway, above the grass and I believe 150ish altitude. I can hear the engines whining as I'm about to touch wheels down when suddenly.... Bam! Explosion! Fire! Smoke! My 'hog splits in two! Another Hog!! My wingman took it upon himself to practice landing ontop of my 'hog. Double decker landing? Hell, I don't know, but got another "You committed fratricide" message... Doh! Lmao oh well. I am going to reset that log book at some point...

Is this this the primary cause in the stiction we experience? So far the only time it becomes apparent is when I am flying something with very fine controls. If I'm in WT, I barely notice it... but in the DCS 'stang, it causes me to 'jump' when i move to a point, stop, then proceed a further (or lightly)... So moving from rubber to teflon sounds like a nice improvement for durability in the long term (Wont be warping/stretchin, friction wear should be extremely minimal). How does it affect resistance tho? Increased/decreased friction? Or negligable/unnoticed? Beings this is my first Serious move towards flight simming, I didnt realize tearing down/relubing would be as important (monthly as one suggested) but considering the price of admission, I'm not opposed to maintenance :D My old x52 Pro just got a dust-off. When it started to stick I lubed up the aluminum ring.. didn't get into tear down tho. I may be contacting you for one or two of those teflon rings... tho I am curious about how the stick feels going from rubber to teflon. I imagine smoother and lighter/less friction.

Only issue I've had is when switching from 40mhz to 30mhz to contact JTAC Moonbeam. I went too far, radio started screaming at me. Went back to 30mhz and it stopped. When I was done & went back to 40, it screamed at me again. I rolled thru the frequencies - didnt solve it. Rolled 40 to 40.1 - it stopped. Rolled back to 40.0 & it was fine. Now, I Have had issues with the tower ignoring me. I get inbound and cleared to contact tower responses when I call in. If I don't start my landing approach ill never get a clear to land response. Prob 2-3nm from runway. I'm lined up, gear down and flaps out at this point.
-
Exactly! Will not be targeting green X's anymore :D This was a few days ago... Have since learned and been using JTAC.
-
So I've spent some time getting familiar with the hog. I've spent some time on learning servers, using pre-made waypoints to learn how to accurately use some of the armaments. I finally start the campaign up again. Again, because when I attempted it after the training tutorials I was promptly shot down while attempting to locate a target... So my first run back, wheels up, and I'm heading north. Start looking for a target.. And BAM!! Shot down. Forgot counter measures. Second flight - I get up.. Locate & destroy 3 marked targets! Woohoo! Then WAM!! Wing comes off! I'm like uh WHAT?? No warning, counter measures was set to auto but never went off. BUT WAIT! I believe I managed to collide with an ally. (If I remember correctly, I heard "2 ejecting"). Get to the debrief screen and "You committed fratricide". Awesome. Third attempt.. Get up, no crazy maneuvers this time. Find the marked targets and proceed to destroy them! Woohoo! Rearmed at Batumi, got back out there and destroyed more targets. When there weren't anymore I landed & quit the mission. "You committed fratricide!" WHAT!?!? So I scrolled thru the battle log to see wtf I hit... Come to find out that EVERY KILL was friendly. Turns out those nice green "X's" I thought marked enemy targets actually mark friendlies. So now I've got all these friendly kills... Think I may delete it & start over.. Along with the campaign lol.
-
Wait.... Are you tryin to tell me that I Can't roll over and pull full-back on the stick to effortlessly get behind an enemy on my 6??? WAAATTTT????? Noooowaaaaayyyyyy! Sounds like he's "warning" those of us who been playing WarThunder :D Hey, all I care about is accuracy. Ill either lean to deal with it or ill crash and burn. I just don't want to get into a contest of who's better at exploiting a broken model....
-
And here I thought I drunk-installed a mod! I noticed these the other day after a good month of prop planes
-
Personally I'd rather see the specials only be skins or forum badges. I always find it irritating in other games when you get some extra weapon/ammo/whatever that is unachievable/unlockable. So I got a gold bar in BoS forums. Means nothing. Won't make me a better pilot or my plane fly faster.

For those that have pledged $40 or above...
Siq6Six replied to ATAG_Bliss's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Stop lolly gagging around & announce me the winner already, k? Post #70! :D heck, if I'm the winner ill gladly donate my saitek combat pedals for the next raffle! (If/when they open up additional/extended funding A $100+ backers raffle in the future?) Ok on a more serious note.... Have you considered resetting the raffle with proof of payment confirmation to enter? I can imagine people "pledging" their $40, posting to your forums & later reducing or backing out altogether. Been around the Internet too many years too and even in small tight nit communities I've seen people try to get away with scams. -
So I finally bound the basics & hopped in an instant action - ramp take off. I'm curious how you guys bind your engines & prop pitch. Right now left/right engines are on throttle, pitch to the grey rotary. It doesn't seem engine throttle control does much, pitch is where it's at. I tried binding left & right engines to 1 stick so I could bind pitch to the other but it cleared the previous. So how do you go about doing it? I do have an x45 & an x52 Pro, so technically I could add another stick but that's too much clutter for my desk & there really isn't enough room. Do you guys find you spend much time with throttle controls while flying or is it all pitch?

Well, the goals Have changed since the threads creation, but now I agree with it more than previously! /whines like a girl Ya ya, I'm sure it's for the better... I hope atleast. I do love the B-17, just no, (read:none, nilch, zero, zip) interest in flying it.
-
Looks like a lot of good incentive to go higher. Still getting what I wanted at $40 - so I'm happy. I'm mostly disappointed in the stretch goals. I'm sure it's just me, but I just can't get excited in the idea of flying the b17. Is it possible to have other people man the guns, or the bomb sight? Meh. I'm sure all the planes in the stretch goes will be released eventually... Just a bomber would be last on my list of all those awesome other potential options.

Which aircraft are you most interested in?
Siq6Six replied to Griffin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
P-38 first and foremost. The cockpit looks so badass! :D Even my HOTAS WH is a far stretch. P-47 - such a fun plane to fly would like to experience more realistic model. Spit IX & Tiffy. Love the Spit in WT, even thru the cries of the mouse aimers (god forbid they find out what controlling an aircraft is really like, but they know all about balance!! Lol) Sitting in the cockpit feels like sitting in a sports car! Love it. Sounds mean as **** too! Love the Tiff in WT as well - evenly with the Spit. Another cockpit I really enjoy. Once ya get going that sucker moves. The engine sounds beefy too! Especially @ lower RPM... Winding down! Sounds like a chain driven Supercharger, tho I haven't found anything stating the typhoon has one, so not sure what it is.. All the rest - ill be happy to see in game but will likely not spend much time with them. These 4 will be good enough for me :D -
So.. Have they clearly stated "WWII Europe module will be free"? If not then I think people are mistaken. The 3 planes will be free with the module, just like all the ground units were free with Combined Arms. Unless I'm mistaken, you will still have to pay for the module, the planes technically won't be free... Regardless, I pledged my $40. Had no previous intention of owning the Dora. That'll be nice to have. I own the Mustang so I plan on (if possible) gifting my "extra" plane.
-
Ya know I was thinking about it, People all of a sudden think "oh these planes are free! Screw it, I don't need to back it!" Well I believe what is being over looked is this - WWII is going to be a module, like Combined Arms. You don't have to purchase each tank individually to use in CA. When released non-backers will have to BUY WWII module. It will come with those 3 "free" planes. Maybe the stretch goal planes will be included, or maybe they'll be additional modules (see: P-51). So - pledge now, get the module & "free" planes at a very fair price. Or wait and pay full-price when its released. CA is $30, but Huey, Mi-8 & FC3 are all $50... In comparison, pledging just $40 gets you not just the WWII Europe, but you'll get the P-51 & FW190. Those 2 alone are another $40-$60 depending if you catch em on sale or not!!
-
Oh the Typhoon would be awesome. Would be so great to see it realized in DCS. ^ ^ just saw its scheduled for the 375k stretch goal! Missed that... Didnt pay attention to stretch goals apparently, other than noticing the P-38 & B-17.
