  1. Ok let me restart this as I obviously didn't lay my initial post out clearly. The issue is not in starting the P-51. Can do that no probs. The problem I and my colleagues noticed is in a Multiplayer Mission where there are several P-51's to choose from in a cold start position. We experienced this: The host, always myself, can hop into an aircraft and there is fuel in the tanks, except the aircraft's engine refuses to start off the left tank it had to have the right tank selected. Then... When other members of the session came to start their P-51's they noticed that there was no fuel showing on the fuel gauge for any tank selected after the battery was switched on, yes the shut off was in the "On" position, fuel boost "On" etc, procedure followed as per "the book". Myself, the host, then went back to the briefing screen and selected a P-51, got into the cockpit and sure enough there was no fuel showing in my new aircraft either, for any of the tanks. However... I have just tested the mission myself just now, in multiplayer, as the host as per normal but with no other session members joining (all still at work, sleeping or doing ... Other... Things O.o) and all the P-51's in the session behaved themselves perfectly. I don't know what to say guys except an apology for posting this thread as it seem's it must be a localized issue, but there is / was a definite problem, we all witnessed it first hand. Perhaps wait until some one else has a similar prob? As for the Replay Track, I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it. Half the time it replays me blowing up on the runway or augering in after a perfectly laid down strike even though I fly a terrific mission and land back at base with out so much as a scratch. If the issue shows up the next time we come to fly the mission (we are mostly A-10C orientated and fly the 51 for poops n giggles) I will record and make a movie to show the issue. Many thanks to ALL of you for your good words and taking the time in replying. Edit: P.S. Let me add that the guys I fly with are all seasoned DCS aircrew, I am the new guy.
  2. Righto, did you try it in multiplayer or single or from the mission editor? The temp is 30 degrees, summer. Bit warm but hey its a heat wave :D Great tip for the closed throttle, will try it. Many thanks. Please try the mission in multiplayer, when you do I am sure the first time in the P-51 will have fuel, come out and select another aircraft then go in again and you will see all the tanks are empty... O.o I have never managed to start the 51 on left tank, always had to use Right Tank. O.o There are indeed some strange quirks O.o
  3. There is only one way to do low level flying... Can never get YouTube links to work right in forum posts... O.o :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly:
  4. All I would ask the ED team to do is to put the idea of adding new modules to DCS and concentrate on fixing what is broke. Then I would beg them to add more AI content, especially Cold War era; Aircraft, Vehicles, Buildings, Infantry Units and Shipping. Also include more countries, France, Germany, British and Italy in the AI objects list: IE: British Lightning, Phantom and Buccaneers with VC-10 and Victors to refuel them, Shackleton's as AEW, Nimrod for Naval and ELINT work etc. Canberra PR9's to cover Recce. Germany with F-104's and Phantoms, Fiat G-91's... Italy with 104's and 91's etc etc etc, you get what I am driving at. The 3D models are out there to acquire, the FM's are already made so just individual tweaking required... It would be a matter of getting them all into DCS World. Just my DCS dreams.
  5. Our procedure is sound, the throttle is literally cracked open by about an inch. The start up procedure is definitely not the issue, its empty fuel tanks that is.... Pls read the thread to understand the issue at hand.,
  6. The Left and Right Hand Wing Tanks were selected in sequence during start attempts. Even at 2% you would still get engine start and run. Now I cannot claim to be an expert Mission builder so it could be that my mission is at fault, if so then I do apologise in advance for wasting people's time. Falcon pls find attached mission and thank you very much for your reply. P.S. There are many Pony's in the mission, all the team members flying the multiplayer session do have all the skins loaded etc. We all fly off the one hymn sheet as it were. VAMPIRES P-51 Jolly.miz
  7. The fabled DCS P-51 - Fuel issue, Sim not Game. Multiplayer. Mission Editor, place aircraft on ramp, select armament, select 70% fuel - Quantity for the mission with a reserve, under total AUW limit. Select the paint scheme, start over for aircraft number 2, 3, 4 etc... Save Multiplayer mission, lets go fly... Start up procedure as has worked without fail many times before recent update/s... Engine coughs and dies, spend all afternoon cussing and swearing at the computer, the superb Warthogs, beating the shite out of the keyboard, kicking the dog, sending the kids to bed at 4pm, grunting at the wife... Get online after dinner with yer DCS expert of all planes mate to see what he makes of it, you load up yer mission, he gets in the plane, start up procedure... Same thing, engine coughs, splutters, farts and dies. Swear again, repeatedly, go into mission editor to double check yer work... 70% fuel definitely there for all aircraft, everything as it should be... Reload multiplayer, yer best bud tries again only to exclaim that there is no fuel in any of the tanks, close out the session, restart start it, same issue - No fuel in the tanks. Obviously a bug.
  8. F-15C DCS would be nice, very nice :)
  9. BWAHAHAHA! Funny booger :D
  10. If a Dev wants to concentrate on Civ aircraft then I do not have a prob. As long as that Dev doesn't start advertising the next release which may be a much sort after Military aircraft and takes his or her time releasing it on behalf of updates to the Civ product. I had issues, up until recently, with people clamouring for Trainer Aircraft, the T-38 for example which has zero weps capability. Before anyone flames me, NO the T-38 currently does NOT have a weapons capability, the AT-38B however does but they are few in number and quite limited as to what they can carry. The BAe Hawk (semi impressive array of weps but limited hard points) , T-6 (no weps in the T-6B guise fella's, AT-6B only) <--- Not afraid to hold my hands up and be proved wrong btw. The point was made clear to me by Ells of VEAO that the Dev's need to learn how to get add ons into DCS world for us, a trainer or Civilian aircraft with its lesser systems, capabilities etc (not always the case I know) are proving to be a good exercise in cutting ones teeth, pleasing a good section of the DCS player base so that by the time we get the Heavy metal in game they will be able to give a fantastic product with all the bells and whistles with few or even no bugs. I had my blast to my ego, I was made to realise there is more to DCS and I felt ashamed that I had mouthed off my opinions regarding what I thought to be pointless exercises. I was really pleased to be put in my place, very gently I might add which I thank Ells for. I say bring on the Civs, the Trainers, Hang Gliders, Kite flyers et al, Welcome one and all because I imagine that the more content from 3rd party Devs, the more folk become interested and move on over from the likes of MSFS (such as myself) then the the better and longer DCS World will survive as a viable simulator. A prime example of all this is the MSFS series, by design from the out set a strictly civilian simulator, and lets not forget the fierce rows brought about the "MSFS is for Civvy only Brigade" (talk about short sighted bigots!) yet some of the best add ons for that sim were military. Cloud9's F-104 for FS2004 was an absolute revelation, anyone who flew it, died (virtually speaking of course) in it repeatedly and knows it well must surely agree with me. The 3rd Party Dev's kept FS alive with Civ and Mil addons... That is until MS made a right mess and gave up, shame on them. Just my thoughts.
  11. HA! I stand corrected, that's what happens when you become out of date :) A shame they couldn't make it work, thank you for correcting me. I agree 100% that game engine is burnt out, I gave up with Arma, to me II was pretty poor, it wasn't what I was hoping for.
  12. I apologise, I think I was emotionally ranting, coming down off a MANPAD high after being blooped ingame :D Let me clarify my statement: The Igla's... I am not doubting the missile's capability once airborne, the damage model would appear to be accurate as does it's flight chars and seeker capability. But the Human factor and the launch system's reliability, launch procedure time, launch envelope seems to be questionable in DCS. Back in GW91 the SAM most feared over Iraq was the Roland 2 but even that had major limitations despite bagging an A-10 and two Tornado's. Earlier variants were used in the Falklands war where the Argentinian forces nailed a Harrier and claimed to have shot down two 1000lb bombs in flight with the system... So i have no doubt that older SAM's disregarding modern updates have a potent edge, every SAM should be given due respect. But hey I am going away from the main subject... Maybe I am talking from my bottom but in my opinion the Igla reload, reacquisition, lock and launch times are off, the human element of surprise, rushed and fumbled handling etc are just not factored in. To lob off 6 Iglas from one man in 30 to 40 seconds of flight is pretty unreasonable.
  13. My apologies cichlidfan and to anyone else especially Mizzy. I get it I posted off topic... Cardinal forum sin etc, no intention of hijacking thread and won't happen again.
  14. Sighs... Thanks for the reply Mastiff, i can stop pulling my hair out only to go chew my nails hoping ED will fix :)
  15. Folks, Is it me or is the F-16 terribly short legged, AI bugged? From what I have read on the F-16 it should be good for about 300 odd miles on a Hi-Lo-Hi profile + Warload (no tanks). With 2 external tanks the F-16's I am placing as strike and AAR escorts are getting circa 130 miles then flame out, despite having a sensible 320 to 420kt airspeed range, advanced waypoint actions telling them to RTB on Bingo or they get their poop together and head off to a tanker, one will tank and stay on the boom until it finally flames out (cause?) whilst it's wingman fell out the sky minutes previous. My guess is the AI aircrew are being FAR too AB hungry to reach the assigned waypoint airspeed (see above). Other aircraft, the F/A-18, Tornado, F-15 seems to be pretty well done, the AI are still nuts for AB mind... But hey, you pay peanuts and you get AI monkeys :D If I am doing something wrong or I am incorrect with my facts please feel free to flame me :)
  16. Folks, Has anyone noticed an issue where a client in an MP mission can have an engine fire on their A-10C but the effects are not seen by other session players? Is this an issue server side or perhaps a switch in the options we have to enable (obviously we are missing it having searched for such a thing) or is it a known bug? Thanks.
  17. Amen, post 1.2.6 DCS updates are fast becoming a real pain in the proverbial.
  18. Geebus, if Microsoft could do it for FSX in their half a***d attempt at Multicrew I am more than certain ED can do it with one hand tied behind their backs! :D :D :D And it's GiB anyways... Otherwise known as "the ballast". RIO and WSO... O.o :D :D :D
  19. A-1E please!!!! If ED ever get Multicrew going... Drools....
  20. Sunken statics; whether the ED Static IL-76's at Airports or user placed Static aircraft are still present after 1.2.6.
  21. ALARM will definitely get you no matter you shut the radar down, especially if you bring it back up... And I wish ED could / would model the ALARM's flight pattern correctly.
  22. I have been wondering the same thing! In DCS A-10C you get an eng fire, you pulls the fire handle, run down the eng, conduct all the proper drills and the fire continues to rage uncontrolled. Edit: Pls disregard! To my shame, after reading the forum here, I found out I wasnt activating the fire bottles... Pulling the T- Handle won't kill the fire, you need to close the corresponding throttle, pull the T-Handle, click on the L or R Agent Discharge switch, right hand side of the dash.
  23. Theres VOR in DCS?
  24. I have noticed a major drop in FPS when ordnance explodes to the point that when 4x Mk84's explode on a bridge I get 2 second total freeze. I do have that moment caught on video, and no the video recording process does not impact my FPS or smooth running of the sim, this is new since update 1.2.6). My PC specs: i7 3770K OC to 4.2Ghz, 16Gig DDR3 1600, KFA GFX670 2Gb, 1TB WD Black, Asus Sabertooth MB with Win 7. Being a relatively new comer and reading and experiencing all the bugs with DCS World right now I am genuinely becoming a little disconcerted. The Missile issues, the Effects vs FPS issues, Air to Air Refuelling completely broken not only for AI but clients also. Most of these problems aren't new and have been around a while and are simply not getting fixed. Not wanting to get on a soapbox then rant and rain down on ED but I want to say this: If I buy a new car from a dealer I expect it to run perfectly if it doesn't I send it back with a whole load of invective to get fixed pronto. I know, it's a poor show to make that analogy, I do realise that Software written by part time coders cannot compare to a high tech mass produced automobile... My point is I am a customer paying money that in this financial day and age should be a privilege to receive for your hobby product I have invested over $160 so far in ED's products expecting them to work out the box, the only thing I expect to break are the major updates where ground breaking new toys are implemented. This said I love DCS and will continue to support it no matter but personally I would like to see more concentration on getting DCS World fixed and flying right rather than two or three times a year a new ED module being pushed. Hey at least it's not a Microsoft Product right? :D Just my two penneth.
  25. It's not just A-10's its pretty much most of the AI aircraft. especially F-16's that seem to only have range, no matter the payload for a 140 mile jaunt at 20000ft before flaming out ignoring the RTB at Bingo instruction. The 16's sure like to hang on the Tanker and then flame out... O.o Also doright's problem, in single and multiplayer Air to Air Refuelling (AAR) is most definitely broken. Myself and my MP group are experiencing the same issue and reported it here. Lets hope ED can fix it quickly.
