  1. I don't know whether ED "cares" or not. But your perception that they do not seem to care likely is because they are sensibly focused on doing what makes money and thus organize their business priorities accordingly. Right now, no one pays for bug fixes, or for improving the core, and I'm betting that there is not much incremental revenue in bringing a module out of early access. Incentives matter. If you want them to fix bugs and problems and finish modules that most people have paid for already then a subscription model is the way to go.
  2. Let me add my thanks! I just finished the MiG-15 version and really enjoyed the entire campaign. Well almost all of it. There were moments of frustration and triumph, but I guess that's the idea. The only mission I could not finish successfully was "The Final Nail" where I just could not avoid getting shot down by those F-5's. Rather frustrating as it was about 45 minutes of flying to get to the action in that one. I tried it about 10 times before resorting to the auto success option. Is there a way to practice that does not require the 45 minute lead up to a few moments of terror?
  3. The "chime" is supposed to tell you that SRS/VC can now hear you when you are using VOIP integration. However it seems to play as soon as you press PTT if VOIP integration is disabled. I would characterize this as a bug. To work around, make sure you have "Sound Notification" unchecked in the VOIP integration section of the MP tab of the configuration window. The sound will play if the box is checked even if VOIP integration is disabled. But you have to enable VOIP integration to uncheck the box. (You can disable it again afterwards.) That solved the problem for me after I decided to stop using VOIP integration.
  4. I've watched that video many times and it does not answer my question about how to zoom the playback control bar onto a particular time interval. What I'm looking for is a method to have the playback bar only show part of the mission but expand that part to take up the full width of the available space so that the events get more spread out and easier to distinguish. I've seen other apps where you could set a start and stop time and have the app only display information within certain limits. I do not see how to do that in Tacview. Regarding my question about jumping to a unit spawn time, I realize I can jump to any specific time once I know what it is. But my question is whether there is an easy way to go to a spawn time quickly without having to find and type in that time. If spawn events were shown in the combat log I could just click on one, for example, but they are not shown. Perhaps in an update you could let us filter the displayed events, and then you could add other kinds of events that are not currently shown in the log or on the timeline.
  5. I failed outrunning the F-5's a few times before turning here. I'm wondering how you "unload" and simultaneously stay low. I find that at max speed the Mig-15 needs a lot of forward stick to stay level. Is that the same as unloaded? I suppose in the real jet the stick might feel neutral when pushed forward like that, but it hardly feels unloaded sitting in front of a screen.
  6. Tacview doesn't replay track files. It plays ACMI files that it creates (if properly installed) while you are flying. These are typically saved (given default installation) in the Tacview subfolder of your Documents folder. (Location can be changed in the Tacview options.) Look there for an ACMI file matching your MP session. I believe this only works if the MP server supports Tacview.
  7. zoom on the playback control bar Is there a way to zoom the playback control bar onto a particular time interval? I'm finding it hard to see individual events or scroll the slider to them when there is a lot happening of interest during a few minutes in the middle of a long and mostly boring mission. The events are all crowded together in the middle of the bar, rendering it pretty much useless. I know there are other ways to focus on individual events, but that isn't what I'm asking for. Also, is there a quick way to jump directly to when a particular AI unit spawns?
  8. The stay at home trailer is awesome! (Although it's going to drive those waiting for the Supercarrier crazy with impatience.) Is there a tutorial somewhere about how to make videos like that?
  9. It took me a large number of tries to complete mission 8.2 in the MiG but I finally finished it recently. My bombing and gunnery need a lot of work! In the process of so many repeats I noticed two issues. This is on 2.5.5 stable. Issue 1: The SU-17 I'm supposed to follow sometimes does not actually make the right turn towards the AO when over Gali. Instead he continues straight ahead and starts attacking targets around the city. This happened when I was flying formation with him on his right side. Perhaps that is the cause. Based on that speculation I started flying more to his left and the problem did not occur. Issue 2: The MLRS units who start firing rockets creating smoke appear to be firing them right into the nearby trees. I don't think there is anything there except trees, but perhaps I'm wrong. Seems like they should be firing at something further away. In any event I'm greatly enjoying the campaign despite a few hiccups.
  10. Just played this mission (MiG version) for the first time in 2.5.5 stable. The wingman heads straight for the reservoir (not the dam) upon takeoff. Gets almost to the FARP and then disappears (according to Tacview -- the track I made did not work properly). He then respawns in a different place and continues his attack, but still long before I've reached the area. By the time I get there all three helos are in the air. I died. The wingman then attacked the FARP again but on egress flew straight into a mountain.
  11. I think I found the problem. I started having this problem occasionally in the middle of missions too, but quite intermittently. Last time it happened I made a track and played back with the control-enter input display turned on so I could see my control inputs. My throttle was spiking from 100% to zero % and back for a split second right at the time I heard the bang. I did have the isolation valve switch turned off, and no bird strikes on. So I think the problem is my aging CH Pro Throttle. :joystick: Thanks for the various suggestions.
  12. I'm often finding that the little MiG stalls soon after takeoff. I'll be at 100% throttle (having throttled up slowly prior to and during the takeoff run), 12000 RPM, 100 meters AGL, climbing ever so slowly, going about 300 km/hr, not pulling the stick hard or turning or anything. I've just barely got the gear up and am retracting flaps. And then I hear a bang and the RPMs start dropping and then I'm dropping too. Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong? :(
  13. Wishlist item: VAICOMPRO and track files Last night I completed a long and difficult mission and wanted to review it. So I saved the track file. But on replay my MiG-13bis never started up because the "Chief, ground power on" command was never executed and so the engine did not spin up when I pushed the starter. Playing the track I could see me going through all of the motions in the cockpit as if the engine had started and I was rolling and taking off, but I was just sitting in a dead plane. Wish list for future versions would be for actions triggered through VAICOMPRO commands to be included in the track file. I know that might require some support from ED, but we can always hope.
  14. When creating kneeboard pages in MS Word I find a custom page size of 6 inches (width) by 8.5 inches (height) works well. I "save as PDF" before importing into Kneeboard Builder.
  15. Hollywood. As I reported previously, TX6 is not available in the P-51 or F-5 when the PTT rotary switch is set to NORMAL. See screenshots attached. Perhaps this is as it should be, but if so I don't understand. Shouldn't I have a separate PTT for "Aux" even if the module only has one PTT button? That would let me give commands like "Select" and "Options" without using the same PTT that I use for communications with AI units or voice communications with other players. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, and perhaps I should be using a different setting. I find the explanations in the manual of NORMAL vs. MULTI vs. SINGLE vs. INVERSE ptt modes to be pretty confusing. Some examples would be helpful.
  16. How do you select the appropriate radio in SRS if you only have the one button?
  17. +10. Long overdue.
  18. I'm having the same trouble and its not just the audio responses. I suspect it is a DCS problem. I think AI is running the commands since if I make an inbound call to ATC I get no voice or text response, but reopening the communication menu it opens to the post-inbound submenu. It is, however, intermittent. Ground crew is responding, for example.
  19. My rig is really struggling on Mission 7 (MiG-15bis version) once I get near the action. I'm getting single digit FPS. It makes me wonder whether I ever got the patched version. I purchased the campaign about a month before the message below was posted. I can't figure out how to check the version number. Any suggestions welcome. BTW, rig is as in my sig except I now have a better video card. Nvidia 1060. It is close to maxed out when the FPS drops. Haven't had problems with the other missions so far.
  20. You can change the default to not show the overlay by unchecking the appropriate box on the SRS "Special" tab under DCS options. That is, within DCS itself.
  21. The question was about VoiceAttack, not VAICOM, but perhaps reasonable to assume that the user is using VAICOM. However as reported in the VAICOM thread the feature of VAICOM that mutes SRS when VAICOM is active mutes all SRS communication, and not just commands to VAICOM. As such it is not a worakable solution to the problem of keeping voice communication with the VAICOM engine separate from voice communication with other players via SRS. The workaround that I have been using is to use VAICOM's TX6 node to talk to the AI engine but also requires using VAICOM's instant select feature. This bypasses SRS completely. But you need to configure a separate PTT for it in VAICOM. Separating the PTT functions is currently the only reliable way to keep the two communications functions separate in my experiments. Ditto if you want to also have PTT for Teamspeak, Discord, or the new DCS voicechat.
  22. The easiest workaround for now if you want to use VoiceAttack with other software is to simply move the VAICOM PRO folder out of the APPS folder for VA. --Softball (experiencing withdrawal symptoms until VAICOM is fixed to work with 2.5.6)
  23. +1 Three settings for radio switch action: Select Radio only. Select Radio and PTT, Select radio and PTT if radio selection is valid. The second one for backward compatibility, although I'm not sure I see the need.
  24. Cribob: Could we get an option for Radio Switch works as PTT only on that radio? I'm sometimes finding I push radio switch for a non-available radio and end up transmitting on the last selected radio, which isn't necessarily the one I wanted. In other words, if the radio selection fails, shouldn't the PTT fail too, at least as an option?
