Good news but, umm, what emissions does the RWR pick up from those transport helos you listed, like the UH60 or Mi-8? Are you referring to specialized EW or anti-ship/submarine aircraft?
-
Does downwash from the rotor have a serious effect on the comparatively slow moving grenades?
-
H125 or 135M sound most likely. Both of them are light helos much like the Gazelle and Bo with similar capabilities (AFAIK).
-
Don't forget gyroscopic precession related effects of rotating the fan disc with the airframe.

I'm kind of ashamed to say, but me too, it's the first thing going through my mind when this thread has new posts. I mean they're adding functions that actually impact the way you fly and here we are asking for the most cosmetic of things... but I can't help it, it's right there, in front of you, currently not working :(

M-2000C for DCS World by RAZBAM - Available for Pre-Purchase
Jerkzilla replied to MemphisBelle's topic in M-2000
Clearly not true: On topic, I'm glad Zeus cleared the situation about the Exocet up. Anti-ship was kind of a niche thing to do in DCS anyway, even compared to SEAD. Regardless, depending on my money situation, I hope to get this during the pre-order. -
AFAIK, that selector mainly controls fuse settings for the Vikhrs (which are, after all, AA capable), I don't know if it does anything else though.

Public inquiry. What is your PC video card?

Now that could be really important. Really hope this particular thing gets looked into.
-
But ummm, the F-14 doesn't have back seat flight controls. So that takes care of that.
-
It boggles the mind how the RoAF went to all the trouble of upgrading the damn thing, installing a new radar set, HOTAS and MFCD displays but no BVR capability. Our budget for these things may not be all that big but come on!
-
Pure speculation, but I think the gun barrels warp because of the heat.
-
^Neat, thanks! A bit disappointing, but it still fits the duck part, and Cobra's wording abut that radar was kind of ambiguous.
-
I'm almost willing to bet money that it's a Viggen. Wiki entry suggested its radar had some primitive AG function, haven't found details though.
-
They could do special modes for the RIO. Like put him in "dogfight mode" or something where he doesn't bother with radar at all and will give you rough directions to nearby enemies, like "left rear, high", or clock positions. Or in BVR, specific bindable commands like scan left, right, high, or low or whatever. If it's compatible with third party voice controls, we won't have to bind anything, as long as we're intelligible. And it's not like we'd get away with mumbling with a human RIO anyway :D
-
Ah, thanks for clarifying, I only just noticed the front door is closed when refueling is in progress.
-
So were they left with a gaping hole in the fuselage? I assume you men the front door that isn't attached to the probe, no?

I'd buy a 10 or 15$ RIO-only license for a friend or two that have no joystick or inclination to try it full. Considering that person won't have access to flight dynamics, half the ASM, the jester AI, I would think it's a bit of a stretch to charge the full price. I don't have the funds for a second copy so that's some extra cash in their pocket they wouldn't get otherwise. Obviously up to them to figure out if theres enough people like me to offset the effort of making this license available plus the lost sales to people that could and would have bought a second fully priced copy for a RIO friend.

I figured the snake ripples because it shows where the rounds you would have fired go. I'm questioning what purpose it serves. I don't think there's any funnel type sight that ripples either as afaik it's calculated based on the g loading and orientation relative to the ground. No reason anyone should chose between the "history sight" that ripples and is of questionable use and a funnel that actually shows where the rounds you are about to fire will actually go. What it looks like in that video is that the pipper itself is calculated properly and the snake is there as a reference for orientation or something. The ripple thing has been bigging me since falcon and I just can't get my head around its purpose.
-
What I really don't understand is why the snake ripples. Even Jesus could be in that cockpit and there is still no way the round you're about to fire will travel down that path, so it's definitely not an alternative to the funnel. And the pipper isn't even aligned. Actually, it kinda looks like the LCOS sight in Falcon BMS, except there the funnel ripples too which AFAIK doesn't happen in what hud video I've seen of F16s.

The RWR is such a strangely designed thing. When you get locked, all the lights go on, as opposed to, I don't know, having a separate lock warning light so you can still see where the enemy is locking you from.

Leatherneck new facebook image/picture
Jerkzilla replied to NORTHMAN's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Judging solely by overall proportions, it's more likely an F-14. The point where the wing starts (the shoulder or whatever it's called) seems too far forward to be a Mig. Not that I really care, I'd buy both almost equally fast. -
Isn't the Mig-23 that was nicknamed duck the one with no radar and is practically a Mig-27?

Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
Jerkzilla replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I don't mean to derail anything, I'd pay big bucks for a Mig-25 (as well as an F-14), but out of curiosity, do the recon and strike versions of the foxbat, like the BM, retain the capability to shoot R-40s? What few things I found on the web don't list R-40s as usable, but then they don't say the radar or pylons were tampered with either... -
The arguments already been made, but I just want to add that there's also the matter of consistency with other modules. In the Ka-50, you only need one key to cycle switches with only 2 or 3 positions like ammo type, burst length, auto/manual modes and whatnot. On the other hand, I think the hardpoint selector is fine as it is, cycling through 11 positions one by one is harder and I have no other use for the number keys anyway. The radar switch is also a tricky one, I don't want to turn it off cycling from on to standby. Adding the option in addition to the current approach would be good though.
