The autopilots combined with the trimmer are really the main thing you need to learn to work with. It doesn't take that long but it isn't very intuitive either. Beyond that, the bulk of the stuff you need to learn to fight in the shark is pretty straight forward to learn. Then theres the PVI800, but you don't really need it, I wouln't consider it a factor here.

Wasn't that mixture setting only used when the carburetor or something failed and you needed to ensure enough fuel is getting in?

So out of frustration with the fact that I could't take down the AI 109 with the 'stang, I figured I'd blow off some steam killing it with the Mig21 thinking I'll have all the energy and climbrate I'll ever need... I've probably never felt worse about my performamce in game, ever. The little bastard zoomed into every one of my bounces, practically all my gun solutions were in head-ons. Even if he stalled, by the time I could bring the flying pencil around, he'd have recovered enough energy to turn into my subsequent attack. It never fired, but a human player would have gotten me in one of those head-ons.

Also press one of the three gun arming buttons on the left side of the upper dash, next to missile type and AA/AG switch to load the gun. Hotkeys are Left Alt + 1, L alt + 2 and L alt + 3, it's ready to fire after this, just make sure you have the trigger bound to something. You shouldn't need much more than this for an F-86.

Bosnia map would be nice. The only drawback is that it'd have to be something like twice as big to include the Italian airbase(s?*) used during Allied Force. I guess they could be isolated, detailed areas with the surrounding terrain all bland, while the bulk of all the detail goes into the 500x500 area. *I can only find specific references to Aviano. No idea what other air bases were used.

How would they lose customers though? All aircraft LN could do have their own market and while some overlap to an extent, there is no way you can prove that a Tomcat (or Navy Phantom IIs, apparently) would sell worse overall that a single seat jet/two seater with dual flight controls. I'm just saying though, if they made an F-14, I'd probably buy two copies and hand one to a joystick-less friend to be my R2D2.

It's really not a big issue. In my experience, it's actually way more uncomfortable moving the mouse while maneuvering. Thing is, if you have a normal sized widescreen display, you rarely ever turn your head really outside of the screen. Checking your 3 or 9 o'clock just means pointing your head at either left or right third of your display.

Yeah and the Sidewinders would make it a very practical choice in multiplayer, even when operating in the same area as fighters.

Do any of the manuals ever detail what AoA the aircraft is supposed to maintain at 10000m flying at cruise speed? I'm just spitballing but what if the issue here is that whatever parameter or parameters is supposed to account for lift in different air densities is off, so that a MiG 21 with the loadout of 2 missiles and central fuel tank can't sustain the drag incurred from the higher AoA caused by lack of lift.

AFAIK you have to set your power to idle and collective as low as possible. Then you basically just free fall.

Plausible, though it isn't happening with Arma 3 or Wargame:ALB. I'll clean it up and lower the graphics settings some more to see if it helps. Thanks.

This is a crash that's happening mid flight apparently at random but frequently, as in, at least 3/4 of the time, with no error message. I have to restart from the tower every time. Windows Reliability Monitor shows nothing at the time of the crash. Thing is, I've been playing DCS since late last year and this started in late June, when I bought FC3. I think initially the game only crashed with FC3 aircraft but since then I reinstalled the OS, and obviously DCS, and now it's happening with all modules. Thanks in advance. dcs.zip
