How are you saying all of that ? I read that their was suspicion about how many planes P.Closterman shot down. An Historian said that Closterman was a liar, as you said. So, there was an investigation, using RAF/Luftwaffe archives, afterward the tribunal confirmed 33 victories from this pilot without doubt, the historian was wrong. And well it's cool that say that someone is a liar, but was you there ? What are you sources ? The number of victory doesn't matter, it's the fact that people fought and survived that matter.

Of course, that's why having bomber (or lighter aircraft like ju-88, huricane...etc) escort on Normandy map will make a massive difference !

For the stat I'm just refering to the book : Just 25 FW190 handled 150 P-51/P-38 and downed 28 B-17 at the same time (25 were chasing, 13 were fighting the bomber). With all the archives from the RAF and luftwaffe combined, we know that around 30,000 germans fighters were lost (+7300 damaged from 10 to 60%), 11.000 pilots dead, 10.800 injured. The luftwaffe downed around 25.500 planes on the West front. The Allies lost +40.000 aircraft on the West.

Maybe I'm really a bad pilot in P51, but I fought with it a lot, and there is 3 cases : 1/ It's a Fw190, I have my chances when I take off with less than 30% of fuel 2/ It's a Bf109, if we don't out number them and they are good pilots, we are dead, we can't even escape and we don't fly high enough to take advantage of the compressor 3/ I'm sneaking behind a 109, the first few seconds are extremely important, if you miss you shots, the 109 will out run you, will turn harder or will climb way faster, it's over for you. In P-51D you bleed energy super fast, you can't climb faster, you can't turn as hard, your fire power isn't as good (thanks DCS for this great damage model) but the gyro is cool... The P51D really need a power boost like he had over the France in '44 Yeah of course ! But just look at the stats, good Luftwaffe pilot were just destroying P-51D and '44 Spitfire Models. There is no doubt about that, the 109 and 190 were amazing machines and in good hands you had simply no chance to win...if it was a good pilot of course :( Mine ?

Not really, he talks multiple time around the 350 pages about how superior germans figthers are, but, luckly for the allies, the majority of germans pilots weren't that good because all the old pilots died and they didn't had the time to properly train new pilots. Not sure If I can post this picture, if it's an issue tell me I will delete them, but here he talks about the situation (well, if you don't speak french good luck :P ) Honestly there is no way a P-51 can fight a good 109 pilot, however against a 190 I agree, you can win. Also yes it's not because one ace pilot say this that it's 100% true. But I think it's a good overview of the situation, he piloted many different RAF planes and fought a lot of germans planes.

Hi guys, I'm reading a book from the French Ace of the WWII, Pierre Closterman, "Le Grand Cirque", he was a pilot on Spitfire IX, V and Tempest V. (This book is amazing, if you speak French or if translated versions exist, you should take a look). It's a super interesting book, I'm learning a lot about the different planes, about the RAF and the Luftwaffe. About the air battle in general during the WWII...etc :book: (Pierre Closterman in June 1945 in his Tempest V) And one part of the book is dedicated to the Luftwaffe during the '44/'45, and it's amazing. About 15/20% of the effectives are aces, whereas the rest are young pilots unable to match the allies pilots. But this 15% of aces are just destroying everything, flying on Fw190D9 and BF109K, just like in DCS, Pierre clearly said in the book that the P-51 are vastly inferior, and even a Spitfire XVI and his IV-B are "helpless" ("impuissant" as he said) against these new fighters. The only ones able to fight these fighters were the Tempest V and the Spit XIV. He tells the story of 38 Fw190A8 engaging 150 P-51/P-38 after destroying 34 B-24 !! The Luftwaffe lost 12 190, the US 13 fighters... Later Konrad Bauer, German ace fought alone 7 P-51 in a Fw190D9, and killed 3 them before coming back to his base, injured. What is the point of talking about all of that ? Well, I get why we have a Spitfire IX, it's perfect for the Normandy map taking place in '43/'44, but what the point of fighting late model of the 109 and 190 with such fighters ? The P-51D is a joke, it's impossible to win against a good 109/190 pilot if you aren't coming right to his six and without a wingman, and the Spitfire will just be good for turning and the 2x 20mm will help a lot, but for the rest we will be out-performed easily. Why making such good plane for the Germans, but for the allies giving them 1 to 2 years older fighters ? Oh and good luck for the future P-40... :D I just want fair duels. The only way for allies to fight Luftwaffe's planes is to out number them, but in DCS there is way more people flying 109/190 than people flying the P-51 (guess why...), Maybe it will be better with the upcoming Spitfire. I'm just sad to know that I will fly the beautiful Spitfire, but I will again, like with the P-51D, having a very very hard time doing something interesting against a good 109/190 pilot, flying a more advanced aircraft. :cry: Sorry for grammar errors and the long post, just wanted to express my opinion, as controversial as it could be.

hansangb : in fact I had the idea to have the top of the Mirage cockpit with the HUD on the projector and displaying the rest of the cockpit on the screen, it's like trying to make a triple screen setup but with 2 screen and vertical rather than horizontal ! But I'm not sure it would looks good, so maybe I would just export the VTB and RWR of the Mirage on the screen and display the full cockpit on the projector ? Not sure which one would be the best. Thanks for the file I will look at it at the end of the day ! ruskybeaver : Maybe I ****ed up the monitor.lua, I will relook at it. Could you maybe send me your file ? Sadly I can't use Helios because there is no Mirage 2000 panel available on it. It would have been the best option for sure. hansangb : I will later in the day !

Hi, I'm working on a Mirage 2000 simulator ! Still WIP, but now working on the software and DCS is giving me a real headhache ! I have a strange issue : i want to use the second screen, in the cockpit, as a way display the cockpit while the projector will only display the top of the screen ! Like that (sorry it's in French), it's not accurate because the screenshot wasn't took in 1080p, in fact the bottom green rectangle should be as large and high as the top one : To try everything I work on my own PC and I used Nvidia Surround : in 3840x1080 : No issue DCS is correctly displayed But If I try to make a 1920*2160 (like two FHD screen one on the other) : Blackscreen, but the GUI is correctly there. I don't understand, am I doing something wrong ? I modified .lua files to make sure DCS was running with the correct screen size/ratio, but it's not working, why ? :helpsmilie:

Yep issue still here !! Can't refuel my P51 or rearm it ! Can't use the radio menu at all, it still empty....damnit it's an issue which is here for a long time !

Wow I also forgot they got Mirage ! I hope we will have more skin in general in a near futur, but that's not a massive priority I think. Also I'm sure the last picture is a Mirage from the French Air Force :)

I also think the actual sound is very good, compare to all other jet module, the Mirage is really good (the AfterBurner sound is very nice for instance), however I still think it can be better, as the OP said for the fly by sound which isn't really nice compare to a real fighter... But I'm also sure the DCS sound engine is really limited, and that Rlaxoxo is doing his best with the tools available.

Thanks guys, sometimes CAP mission (like this one) are very good, you manage to be in close range and making the good move to grab the 6' of the ennemy, but they are more often less fun as a Mirage (hoooo Fox-3 I hate you). Hi guys ! Well, just wanna share my last CAP patrol in Mirage, pretty cool, I decided to make a little edit because...I like doing some editing to make the video more entertaining ! The Mirage is a beast in dogfight but you really to take car of your energy or you can loose all your avantage if the dogfight last longer. Hi I have a new bug that I don't understand : Recently after the last update, I discovered that I couldn't look over 50-60°, whereas in a normal case, before the update, I can look at 90°, like everyone ! For instance, in a normal case in DCS if you try to look over 90° the view can't go over and "bug" Now, I have the same issue at 60°, I can't look over, I'm not using a trackIR but a home made trackIR using FaceTrackNoIR, which worked perfectly for 1 year and I didn't update the software for few months. In FaceTrackNoIR I didn't change my profile, and in all my other sims my pitch works great, I reach 90° in all my sims. Here is the best pitch view I can reach : Any idea how to fix that ? Thanks !

Use the PPA, there is a switch, on the top right, PREP/TEST, switch it to prep (right click) and then you will see it on the VTB
