Hi guys. Just curious how the frame rate counter works in VR. In the main menu I get a steady 90 fps. But in game it immediately snaps to 44-45 fps. Yet I am getting very good performance and no ghosting or stuttering. Is it cutting it in half??? It doesn't matter whether I turn the settings all the way down or way up the frame rate stays the same...44-45. I assume the (MIS...) is missed frames? Or is that something else? Also is there a good reference for settings for NVIDIA Inspector 3D settings? Just installed a brand new ZOTAC 1080 amp extreme and trying to get it fine tuned. Oh yea and using a VIVE Thanks in advance. Jason

Thanks for the answers guys. I should have clarified, I'm not currently running SLI.

So I just setup the VIVE this weekend and wow what a different experience. I hopefully have a ZOTAC 1080 Amped Extreme coming this week to improve the experience. Was looking for some tips or pointers to fine tune my VR experience. For starters, is there a way to turn off the main display or monitor so the graphics card doesn't have to render that in addition to the headset? It would seem to me that if the graphics card didn't have to render the main monitor along with both displays in the headset that would add some umph! Or am I just being naive? I've turned the resolution of the main monitor way down but I can't really tell if that's added any performance for my Vive. Secondly, I'm running Windows 10 and I can't seem to get Steam, Steam VR and the services to stay off when I fire up DCS. I've read the thread and turned off the services in the task manager but every time I fire up Steam they come back up. I've read that the VIVE will work without Steam VR for DCS so I must be doing something wrong. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks in advance, Jason

Addendum- solved the mouse issue. My performance seems great and smooth even with everything jacked way up. Just was curious if there was anything to do to improve resolution or text in the cockpit and HUD especially?

Just got the Vive and hooked it up today...all I can say is wow! Couple questions I was hoping the community could chime in on. Is there a way to turn off the mouse/pointer being the center of your view and just using the real mouse to click switches and toggles like on a 2D screen. I know I can turn off labels so they don't keep popping up as I look around but I'd like to use the regular mouse. Second, is there a good place to learn about setting and tweaks for resolution with the Vive (ideally DCS Specific) but general Vive guidance would work too. Thanks in advance, Jason

I know what they mean and stand for but can someone give me a good explanation of how and why to change them given a specific situation? I find I tend to get better results when I lower the HOF to 1200 feet. I assume it's creating a more concentrated blast area? But I still notice often infantry standing when I feel they should be obliterated. Also, I use CBU 87s and 103s on infantry and utility trucks. And CBU 97 and 105 on tanks and IFVGs. Is this correct deployment? What do you guys use? And how do you approach it? Regards Jason

HI Sabre....Quick question I just tried restarting your Basic Flight Qualifications campaign in the stable release....It showed as inactive and I even tried resetting it. BUT...It starts me out on mission 6 and its the practice mission not the campaign mission. Any thoughts on how to remedy this? My only thought is that I did have your campaigns installed from Maple Flags originally but removed this one when you released trhough the ED store. Thanks Jason

How do people get the view from over the wing? I see this a lot on replays on YouTube but can't find reference to it in the controls menu or keyboard bindings. Are these custom views? And can any view be saved as a custom view (using RALT + Num0)? Or are snap views cockpit only? Regards Jason PS- Do the instructions on the snap views wiki still apply for DCS 1.5.3 and 2.0?

Does anyone know if installing this with the VAC ATC menu mod (via JSGME) will create a conflict? I get a warning about the RadioCommandsDialoguePanel.Lua. -
Hi guys, I'm trying to tweak or adjust my default camera positioning in the cockpit. I'm running into a problem I never have before though. I can't get any of the Num 1-9 keys to work...No changes to the mappings...NumLock is on. I try and hit the key to move camera or view up, down left or right and it just stays static. Any thoughts? I am using TrackIr but have never run into this in the past. Only thing new I can think of is that I've just started using Helios....would this matter? Regards, Jason

Hi guys, hoping anyone can help. Just got my new 27 inch Acer touchscreen monitor and am trying to use Helios for the first time. Surprisingly I'm running into a snag in an unexpected area. Setting up the Helios and panels is going smooth but I can't get my touchscreen to communicate with the Helios panel. Now the touchscreen shows input from touch but nothing happens on the panel. Though the panel works fine with mouse input. Now I'm trying to configure the touchscreen as instrUcted in the Helios setup and guides. But it looks like these were written and done in Windows 7. I find that on the PC tablet control panel and Pen and touch control panel, there are several tabs not listed (i.e. Touch and flicks). And I can't find these tabs anywhere. Hence I cannot follow the directions and uncheck. I also can't find the Input Panels settings to uncheck the Input panel tab. I'm assuming this impass is why I can't get my touch screen to affect the Helios panel. Any thoughts or help would be so appreciated Regards Jason

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you could give me input or advice. I'm getting my acer 27 inch touchscreen tomorrow and am excited to try out Helios for the first time. I've watched some videos and done a bit of reading. Hopefully you guys can tell me if I'm on the right track for steps to take tomorrow. 1. Download Helios and the profile editor 2. Gonna download caploz a10c profile as a base 3. Edit my export config lua or copy and paste Helios lines? I'm assuming I can just replace my current export with one of the export.lua files and then just add my tacview and bios etc entries? 4. Do I need to do anything with my monitor or view config files like I did exporting MFCDs without Helios? And will I need to play around with the monitor and resolution in game as well? Or does the fact I'm using Helios make it totally separate from my main cockpit view? Anything else I'm missing? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I'm so excited to try this yet it seems a bit daunting. Regards Jason

Is it usual for the follow weapon camera to go back to cockpit view when dropping a cluster bomb and it disperses? I never see it reach the actual target.

Touch screen monitor recommendations for Helios?
jasonstory44 replied to jasonstory44's topic in Home Cockpits
Thanks Mick....Glad to hear. I just ordered the acer 27 inch model. Started with just one as it was probably silly to consider buying 2 more for left and right consoles. I get a bit crazy with my "wants" sometimes. Hope to get delivery tomorrow. Can I lean on you if I have any questions regarding setup? regards Jason -
Thanks Guys!

Hi guys. Was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on the best touch screen monitors for Helios. I'm considering purchasing three. One for center console, a left and right console as well. I'm new to playing with Helios and touch screens so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Regards Jason

Two questions...I'm trying to get my setup and cockpit fine tuned. First, can somebody point me to the camera controls so I can adjust the default view? And two, is there a good explanation of the different views, both cockpit and external, so I can try and map them to some keys? I see people on youtube switch to excellent weapons and target views but can't seem to get them with the default F1-F12 setup. Thanks, Jason
