  1. I reinstalled the Christian Eagle to have a look at how it operates on the ground and low and behold, it doesn't handle any better but apparently because of a problem with the modeling of the brakes, not the tailwheel. As the plane is taxiing forward at the pace of a brisk walk, applying either brake will just bring the plane to a stop after causing it to very slightly begin a turn. With full brake applied on either side, you can get the plane to turn and the tailwheel does castor 90 degrees but this is only after applying a significant amount of power, almost identical to the problem with the Corsair. I don't know which is more annoying, the problem itself or the lack of M3 even acknowledging that the problem exists. -Rudel- has commented in several of the bug reports that they will look into it but absolutely nothing from them on this. I am a very disappointed customer to say the least. I don't mind being a bug tester during "early access" but it galls me to see this problem ignored.
  2. It looks AWESOME =Katze=, especially now that you have a carrier to base this beauty on!! Love the skins too. Thanks man!
  3. Spend some time watching a bunch of WWII videos of Corsairs landing aboard a carrier and you'll see the Tali wheel actually spinning around far more than 360 degrees during some of their "mishaps" when the tail comes up off the deck. As I mentioned earlier, the flight manual cautioned the pilot to make sure the tail wheel was unlocked prior to landing aboard a carrier just so he might avoid damaging the tail wheel locking mechanism as a result of putting a high side load on it during touch down. M3 has put so much work into this plane, and it is really obvious, I would just like to see them follow through with some of these details. I am thoroughly enjoying this plane and have no buyer's remorse, I just want them to get it right is all.
  4. Unfortunately, after this latest update, there has been no change to the ground handling of the Corsair. The tail wheel still does not swivel past about 20 degrees in a turn and application of one brake merely brings the plane to a halt rather than cause it to spin around (with modest power applied). Other than that, this update seems to have worked well.
  5. I seem to recall that M3 was planning to bring out an Essex class carrier with an angled deck when the Crusader comes out. Was that just a bunch of fake news or is there any truth to that beautiful rumor?? In either case, I am definitely one of your biggest fans and can't wait for the Crusader to show up. 1st day purchase for me - as was the Corsair!
  6. Thank you very much Seabat!!
  7. I realize that Hawkeye's expertise lies with the naval variety however, given the title of the post, I thought I'd throw in my suggestion/request for a couple of iconic PTO aircraft: how about a PBY for us to place on the airfields as eye candy or have flying in the mission? And while you're at it, why not a PB4Y (B-24) that can carry and deploy the Bat bomb, since I believe that it was the only a/c that actually employed that particular weapon in combat. I also realize that ED is planning to produce the PBY as an AI asset at some point in time however I have much more faith that a modder such as Hawkeye would have it in game at least a year earlier than ED!
  8. In reality, this navigation system was used for land bases but not with regularly changing codes. I'm just not sure whether it was in Europe or the Pacific.
  9. It would be nice to have static personnel objects that we could place on the carrier decks that are in the proper era uniform. I do realize that this rates right up there with a desire to have the proper number of rivets on the vertical stabilizer but I figured I might put a plug in just in case somebody in M3 has a penchant for realism for their eye candy.
  10. Yeah and the odd thing is, there is no Auto rudder or takeoff assistance setting available!
  11. Thank you again AC5. The tailhook knob is beautifully visible in the cockpit, both day and night! Thank you so much!!
  12. AC5, I am a total dweeb when it comes to graphics and knowing that, I can't complain about other folks' work such as yours. I am very happy to deal with having to squint at just the tailhook lever rather than every placard and switch label in the cockpit! Thanks again for all of your work.
  13. I'm not having a problem with the brakes. I use rudder pedals, each with a brake axis, and I can get the Hog to spin around the point of one of the main landing gears with enough power. That is not the issue, IMHO. If you look at the tail wheel while making one of these sharp turns (or even something much less aggressive in terms of brake or power usage), you will see that the tail wheel is not swiveling more than about 10-20 degrees. Once the tail wheel is unlocked, it should swivel around 360 degrees quite easily. As a matter of fact, you are supposed to unlock the tail wheel prior to landing aboard the carrier to prevent damaging the tail wheel and /or it's locking mechanism due to the possible violent side loads that can be put on it at touch down. This doesn't seem like a terribly difficult thing to fix but I am just a layman, not a professional coder. I am just curious to know what M3 thinks about it.
  14. I do and that problem was not evident in my installation.
  15. I am bumping this post of mine just to see if -Rudel- will respond to say whether or not this is a known bug or that M3 believes that the tail wheel is modeled correctly.
  16. AC5, thank you for the beautiful new(ish) cockpit! You have done a wonderful job on it. I have only one suggestion, should you ever decide to revisit this project, and that would be to repaint the Tailhook lever knob either silver(aluminum) or white or some color that would make it stand out from the arc it is in front of. The position of the lever is the only indication you have in the cockpit of what position the tailhook is in. It's not a huge deal but something you might think of next time around, in case there is a next time. Other than that, it's beautifully done and very user friendly! Thanks again
  17. Unfortunately, carrier takeoffs and landings, such as when carrier qualifications were taking place, were made with the deck completely clear of other a/c. Until ED or M3 figures out how to model the operation of the barriers (3 of them I believe), it will be difficult to carry out any flight operations with anything obstructing the flight deck.
  18. The SC handle full forward = Neutral Middle position = Low Blower Aft position = High Blower.
  19. In a much earlier combat flight sim that will go unnamed, they originally had their carrier planes spawn on the deck far enough apart so that after they got started, they could spread their wings and take off or taxi from where they were. Eventually, they figured out how to have the planes spawn with their wings folded (I assume a smaller collision box with the wings folded) and were able to get 4 abreast on an Essex class boat. IRL I believe that they could "easily" get 6 abreast, depending on the type of plane.
  20. I could not agree more with julpeuz! I've been flying IRL since 1973 and have accumulated over 11,000 hours, mostly in helicopters and have never witnessed that kind of defect in those type instruments. As opposed to Havebug, I find it very annoying, especially given that there doesn't seem to be any good reasoning behind it.
  21. Thank you Nealius!!
  22. Motoadve, for a guy with your background and experience, I'm surprised that you didn't mention the ground handling. IMO, it is lacking a fully swiveling tailwheel. Without use of excessive power, it is impossible to get the Hog to turn around one of its main gear. If you watch the tail in the F2 view, you'll see that the tailwheel doesn't swivel more than about 10-20 degrees. Not a deal breaker by any means but very annoying nonetheless, especially when trying to maneuver in tight quarters on the flight deck. I think that all the rest of your comments are spot on though. I am a very happy M3 customer!
  23. I have no doubt that M3 will be all over this at some point. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.
  24. I have tried the LALT+F9 to get the LSO view with no luck. Is there one that I have missed and if not, what are the chances M3 could provide one? I believe that this would make for some awesome videos as well as provide some training value.
  25. Sorry Hoss but I get the Tiny Tims as well as the Bat Bomb. Don't know what the problem could be.
