  1. I think the problem would be for the smart carrier to know when the landing operations were finished. It might be easier for the mission builder to build in the course changes and post in the brief when the ship will commence flight operations and when they will end. That is not very far removed from how it is in real life. The schedule is posted and if it becomes necessary to deviate from that, there is usually somebody standing at attention in front of the skipper explaining why.:D
  2. +1 for this!! I would like to see if ED could create parking slots on the flight deck within the landing area and let the mission builders deal with it. It is such a waste of space to have only 4 or 5 parking spots on the ramp. Let the mission builders decide where the a/c will spawn from by assigning the slots to the individual a/c. Make each one big enough for a Tomcat and we should never spawn bumping into one another.
  3. Yes please!!!
  4. Regarding this "New Behavior", I assume that you are referring to both baskets, or all three in the case of the IL-78, are deployed. Nothing has changed in terms of which one will give you fuel. If you are alone, the only one that works is the left drogue. You still have to tell them that you are "Ready Pre-contact" before you can actually get hooked up.
  5. I doubt very much that this has anything to do with either the KC-130 or the KC-135MPRS as I see this with the IL-78M also. But I only see it in single player. When I host a mission on my server and join it with my gamer, the drogues remain retracted until I have called for pre-contact. I have the Harrier on my gamer but not on my server. This applies to the Hornet and the Tomcat as well.
  6. "Nice, 3 wire." :pilotfly:
  7. YES! If for no other reason than to continue to hammer in that muscle memory of what the approach is supposed to look like.
  8. Never mind.
  9. Not sure about the AWACS but I seem to recall reading somewhere that, when you assign the advanced waypoint command for the carrier to begin transmitting the TACAN beacon, it will, by design, turn itself off at the next waypoint unless you have assigned another advanced command at that next waypoint to have it transmit the beacon.
  10. In the case of the Sikorsky S-64, the mechanical linkage from the flight controls in the cockpit are connected to the pilot valve of the main rotor servo. This is, I suppose, what you would call a mechanical linkage but I can say with absolute certainty that you can not move the swash plate with brute force alone. If you tried, all you would accomplish would be to bend or deform the control tubes leading up to the servo. The linkage just moves the little pilot valve on the servo, which in turn actuates the piston in the servo. I have a colleague that was a Mi-17 instructor over in Afghanistan. He says that the only difference between the Mi-8TV and his Mi-17 was basically cosmetic. Anyway, he said that without hydraulics you could not move the flight controls. I found reference to this in the flight manual emergency procedures that indicated that with a primary hydraulics failure the aux system would automatically take over but the pilot was to land as soon as possible. I'll see if I can remember to bring it with me to work and scan that section for you.
  11. That is not exactly correct for all helicopters. I can't speak for the Mi-8, but I can definitely attest to the fact that there are several models of helicopters flying around out there that depend entirely on hydraulics in order for the pilot to manipulate the flight controls. Sykorsky is big on this design concept. Their S-58T, S-61 and S-64s all require hydraulic pressure in at least one of the flight control systems for the pilot to be able to control the rotor systems. From the cyclic stick to the servos are a series of control tubes, bellcranks, mixing units and even some cables that basically move a pilot valve on the servo, which actually makes the swashplate move. There is no mechanical linkage between the cyclic and the swashplate and there isn't a pilot out there strong enough to move the flight controls without sufficient hydraulic pressure. Lighter helicopters such as Jet Rangers and Astars, even the Huey can be flown with the complete loss of hydraulic pressure, albeit with some difficulty. Like I said, I can't say with any authority that the Mi-8 was flyable without hydraulics but given it's size, I would bet you that it is not and without hydraulics you will not see the swashplate move when moving the cyclic and/or collective around.
  12. Thanks Heatblur. You guys ROCK!!
  13. I'm seeing it fixed since the last update that came out yesterday
  14. Ya know, one of the early videos we've seen has the Tomcat sitting on a cat that is on one of the Ferrestal class carriers. It didn't look as thought they were done with the texturing but it definitely was not the Stennis and it must have been sent to the video maker with the Forrestal class carrier included in the package. HB may surprise us!
  15. That could very well be a result of several others, myself included, that have been "on their backs" about this issue since the Harrier first came out. Prowler has been very patient, with me anyway, in trying to explain that the interactions with the aircraft and the carriers is strictly an ED (game engine) thing. Maybe they are just tired of having to explain that over and over again. Having said that, I see that Sunstag is able to make some changes that affect the AI at least and I am hopeful that there has to be a way to make things right. I am hopeful and patient.
  16. +1 Captain Orso
  17. I could swear that I saw a meat ball on the Kuz just the other day. I'll go back and take a look this evening when I get home from work.
  18. Glad to see that someone has come to their senses!! https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=209869
  19. This is very helpful! Thanks Rudel
  20. How much of the Mediterranean sea will be shown on the map? Enough for a carrier to paddle around in?
  21. Is there a guide to how the various SAMs in this sim are set up? Specifically, which radars are required for which SAMs and how they are placed in the ME.
  22. AI might be able to but I still can't! EDIT: That was with full fuel and no ordinance.
  23. ++1 for the Super Stallion but RAZBAM needs to figure out the spawn points on their Tarawa first. Those will not work spawning on the center line of the flight deck!
  24. ED, would it be possible to provide some additional radio callsigns for the Tankers? With the addition of the KC-130, KC-135MPRS, to the S-3B, KC-135 and IL-78M, it is a bit confusing if you have more than 3 tankers in a mission.
