it really depends on how much of your wing has been blown off. If your wing is greater than or equal to half missing then I don't think its recoverable. You also need to see if your hydraulics have been damaged. Its kind of a rare event, so don't think you can get away with that stunt 100% of the time :)

You can use the left alt + ' keys to see if you have missiles on, but I don't think there is a way of checking your lights without external views.

Actually I have tested this out today and found that it is a bug. The camera seems to be out of place and the turret does not turn horizontally.
