  1. Same thing happened to my cousin in 2015. Had a massive heart attack and had to have a quadruple bypass, and was told he'd had a heart attack in the past that he never even knew about. These things are terrifying, good thread, people really need to stay on top of their health. It's not hard if you make the right lifestyle changes and you feel SO much better anyway. I became much more physically active starting about 4 years ago, eating much more lean and healthy and the extra bit of "work" is worth it, can't even explain how much better I have just from a bit of daily running and a diet change.
  2. Really hope this gets resolved soon. It's been happening to me weekly for over a month now, I have two activations left... By far my favorite module, but this is a little ridiculous.
  3. I'll try that logic on my local furniture shop. I need a new chair, maybe they'll give me an older model for free  My point stands validated and uncorrected, aside from a time limited trial other than being nice there's really no reason for any of it to be free. Where is it being said by ED that they may make the L-39 free by the way? I'd be interested to see your source, I hadn't seen it!
  4. I don't see a reason to. The module is well worth the money and it's a lot of fun. There are so many things you can do with it (both the C and the ZA), and even though I've played for years and simmed for longer, I've learned a thing or two using it (particularly loved the instrument training shroud). I understand trainers are not for everyone, but it's not meant for those who don't want to use it. A lot of work went into it, it's a brilliant module. It was priced cheap when I got it ($49.99) and I'd buy it again at it's current price too. Not that I don't appreciate the thought you put into this, as you obviously thought about it quite a bit. Just don't see a real reason to do it. They deserve money, I'm not sure why any of it is free beyond maybe a time limited trial.
  5. I personally like the Su-33 and 27 better, however I love the MiG-29 and would buy anything at all that they put out regarding it. It's an amazing plane and I really would enjoy a much more in depth experience! I know they have a lot on their plate and planes that are more in demand but I'm with you.
  6. This is basically it. The A-10C is a far more complex plane, with a much greater capability on the battlefield. The MiG-21 is not as complex, but has an extremely high pilot workload making it a very challenging plane to fly and to fly effectively. That's where the fun factor comes in for me. The A-10C is more complicated, but I find the MiG-21 to be the funner bird to fly, and much harder to learn (which is something I enjoy, a challenge/disadvantage). You'll have a lot of fun in either one though. They both give you a lot to learn and have fairly steep learning curves, but in the end the MiG is the harder one. Also, in the MiG-21 you'll almost always be at a disadvantage. The A-10C is more complicated but once you learn it, since the pilot workload is less and the systems can do much more, you'll have the advantage in it's assigned role. The MiG-21 is harder to fly, a lot more for you to do and manage because little to nothing is automated/computerized, and even once you get it down fully, you'll basically always be the lowest in the food chain until you really learn to be sneaky and learn how to bring other players into your fight. And even when you do that, you usually get one shot at winning the fight, and if you miss it...
  7. This. I very, very rarely fly the American aircraft (will definitely change once the F-14A/B release) but they can be a lot of fun. Sometimes change is good, I get a bit bored after all this time even as much as I love the Russian birds. It's well worth the money, and you'll honestly find the two more fun to fly than you imagine, I am sure of it.
  8. That is absolutely spectacular. Wow. Can't wait! :pilotfly:
  9. I think we'd all like to see it. DCS is (at least right now) primarily heavily geared towards more modern aviation. But the P-51, ME-109, and FW-190 are all extremely well done and arguably more fun and challenging to fly than any of the other modules aside from maybe the MiG-21 (that thing is just insanely challenging). So I think there's a lot of interest or could be if things move further that way. As I understand it, the F4U and the P-40 are both in the works as we speak, and both should be great fun to fly. The problem with the B-17 I'd imagine is just honestly the complexity. You see how long it takes to get one plane, one model of it - done right. Some aircraft have been in beta for well over a year and are still not all there. Some have been in development for several years and are not even to the beta stage. From what I understand, each module costs upwards of 6 figures to put out. The B-17, done right, with all the stations and things that would have to be modeled would be an insanely big ask, and exceedingly expensive I am sure. A bird so beloved as that one, people would have sky high expectations. They'd want to be able to run the length of the aircraft, tweak every switch, knob, and rivet and have extreme levels of detail (that's the funnest part of DCS). Just imagine how much that would take if a simple fighter can take years and 6 figures to do. I'd bet one day it can and will happen, but I'd also bet it will be quite some time and a huge number of modules will be ahead of it, if it ever gets on the drawing board. TL;DR - It's not that there's not enough interest or that it's only your $.02, it's just an incredibly big undertaking. They'd have to basically devote a few years resources to just that one aircraft to do it right, and at the time, there are just so many other things on the plate. I'd love it. I'd pay more than $100 for that bird alone. I just can't imagine it'll be an easy one to get in game. Thanks for your service, by the way!
  10. This is what I remember from interviews I used to see on TV and some books I had read about the 108. It wasn't so much that it had problems with recoil as it was the velocity and drop made it effectively useless in trying to hit small, moving targets. There were some good stories about lucky hits but generally they just didn't bother unless it was the intended type of target (bombers for example) or if they were really lucky and caught another fighter with it's pants down so to speak. And you are correct, it would jam under high g-loads, what would happen is that the belts would rip. 41m drop in the first 1,000m alone is quite an obstacle especially combined with the shell's low speed going against another fighter moving quickly and maneuvering. If I remember correctly the entire force of recoil was absorbed by the bolt moving backward against buffering springs. There would be recoil but it wasn't the primary issue with using it in a dogfight and was quite tame given it's size.
  11. It's brilliant for me with all options maxed out in cockpit. More FPS than I ever got pre-1.5/2.0 even with some options disabled or set lower back then. However on any exterior view it stutters like mad unless I turn off depth of field. Not sure why it breaks down like that on the exterior view.. Livable though as aside from screenshots I'm never on external anyway. Overall though it's gorgeous and performs brilliantly for me.
  12. Personally I'd like the W, but if any variant of the AH-1 made it in I'd buy it at the earliest stage possible.
  13. So many things I'd like to see ahead of it (F-14  ), but ABSOLUTELY we need the F-4 in game. The 21 needs it's rival. Can imagine the fun throwing these two against each other.
  14. That's exactly why I stopped using Steam a while back. I've also noticed that DCS runs far better/smoother since going that route.
  15. Haven't noticed anything different as far as load times here. 7200rpm drive and times have always been less than a minute regardless of if I use the A-10, P-51, Black Shark 2, UH-1, or Mi-8.
