That sounds like SO much fun! But yeah OP, that's how you survive F-15s. Much like in real life, you have friendly CAP that swats them down for you before they're ever your problem to worry about. Outside that, you just hope and pray :D

It has indeed been used for light attack in the past (not just training, but actual combat deployment), though it's effectiveness was quite limited. It's capable and has been used to strike light targets, troops, etc. but since it was developed as a trainer, it isn't equipped with anything of a defensive nature really. So if you tried to use one in a real world scenario against anything but insurgents or poorly equipped militias, you'd be in very serious trouble and probably would never even reach your target, and certainly wouldn't even see or know about what shot you down until you were shot down. It's fun to try in game for a challenge, and you can do it (both in real life and game), but as far as real life goes it's use was met with quite limited success when it had any, and met failure more often than not.

Seems like I noticed a few hiccups since the update, but never thought to look into it as I had the computer doing other things while playing too. I'll dig a bit into it today and see if I can get the same.

This. Adding more to this terrain would be just as welcome (to me) as new ones. It's a brilliant map, improvements would always be nice. I'd even pay for it. Either way is welcome, but I wouldn't be as upset as some people seem at the idea of them adding more to the Caucasus map. There's more capability there than there will ever be with the NTTR map.

Could also just as easily be that people's love for those two planes will inspire more active online players or a better experience. When people really love something, it affects the online community and more people want to participate with it. Granted though, it doesn't always happen that way. Also Jester AI could make all the difference with regard to the single player F-14 experience. It's not going to be just basic AI. Much smarter, written specifically for the purpose of multi-crew and the F-14. It's not as good if you prefer to play as a RIO, they say outright it will be really good and useful as a RIO but not as much as a pilot, though you can switch if you like. Nothing's to say that something couldn't be done for other multi-crew combat aircraft as well. I get that some people just like the A-7 better, but planes requiring a BN or RIO are not as hopeless as all that. Where there's a will there's a way, and where there's as much love as the A-6 and F-14 inspire, there's certainly a will. At the end of the day I'm just excited for anything new and of the era making it in game. Bring whatever comes, I'll buy it.

Su-27 Flight Qualification Campaign
OneBlueSky replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks a lot! Took some doing. I'm familiar with the Su-27 as it's either my most or second most used over the last few years, but your missions were certainly a test. I'll check back on that as well! Do any of the other aircraft you've made qualification campaigns for already have the practice package? If so, I'll start with whichever ones do next! -
Same. I'd like a few others as well, but those 3 in addition to what's already in game would make me super happy. Everyone has a different taste and different aspects of different planes either attract them or put them off. But to me, those are 3 beautiful works of moving, deadly art. Guess that's why they captured enough attention to be film stars. Was kidding about the A-10 though. It's beautiful in an odd sort of way, and inspires utter terror the moment you hear those massive fans approaching I am sure if you're on the wicked end of her. Surprised it hasn't had it's own film. The Apache is the same sort of beautifully ugly terror and even it's had one or two starring roles, haha.

Canopy to canopy in a 4g inverted dive :pilotfly:  Multiplayer servers are going to be epic fun when these two come out.

It's amazing how different people can view beauty, haha. To me the A-6 has gorgeous lines and is incredibly attractive. I don't get the love for the F/A-18 or A-10. Truly different strokes for different folks! A-6 had it's own film. F-14 had it's own film. F-16 had it's own film(s). I'm waiting for the A-10 to get a starring role  (Kidding of course)

Bridge and overpass road color on Nevada map
OneBlueSky replied to Boris's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
I haven't played on NTTR much as I can't sort out what to really do there aside from buzz the Las Vegas strip or zip through the canyon and do the same to the Hoover Dam, but I hadn't noticed. I often miss obvious things though  -
If it comes, they'll get almost any amount of money they ask thrown at them by me. Much like the F-14 from LN, my love for the plane will cause me to pay anything they ask the first moment they let me type in my CC number. Especially with proper carrier ops coming.

Agreed. I mean I realize some people are more into the fictional stuff, but for us purists it makes little sense. Hadn't seen this livery before that you posted though, wow! That'd be a good one to have!

Su-27 Flight Qualification Campaign
OneBlueSky replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in User Created Missions General
Just completed it this morning. Absolutely incredible. You did amazing work. Will be buying your other campaigns over the next month or so as a result. Have used the Su-27 over several years and it still provided a challenge and I still learned a fair bit, and most of all it was just incredibly fun. Superb. -
Depends. Honestly none of the older planes will appeal much to people who only want modern capabilities or weapons. They are more suited to people who want a challenge or enjoy the greater difficulties of effectively using outdated birds rather than how easy/sometimes boring it can be using "smarter" jets. But I assure you, all of the older planes in game have multiple ways of being fun and challenging and are worth exploring. As for paintings, no doubt there will be loads of free skins for it by day 2 of release at the latest.

Shhh, the F-16, F/A-18, F-5, F-4, F-14, F-35 etc... All of these are myths and conspiracies to make fighter pilots seem like superheroes. They're unicorns, they don't really exist!

Echoing the Tornado. F-111 would be brilliant as well, and now that we have the capability to bring another live person along, the A-6 would be intriguing too. The B-1 also. Any variant of those would be outstanding. This. I love the SR-71, but it's mission isn't really useful in game, and the maps are way too small to even use it for a novelty. Not enough room to get it to speed. But if the maps ever get big enough... Oh yeah.
-
It probably is because it's a trainer. Which is sad. I know the other two trainers were pretty big let-downs for a lot of people and as a result they've written off training aircraft entirely... but the L-39C and L-39ZA are amazing planes and a lot of fun to use. And they're actually effective as trainers, which is fun in it's own way as the other two trainers aren't even useful as trainers (yet, at least). Hope the L-39 pair get more love soon! I'd love to learn how to skin, perhaps the lack of love it's getting is a good motivating factor :pilotfly:

There are a few fun spots to zip around in, but largely it feels the same for me. Glad I bought it and support the development of DCS even if I would never use it though, as other things down the road I know I'll use. As for controls though, you know you can load them into 1.5 stable right? I mean, if you ever find yourself needing to use it. Same. Fully maxed out on everything visually (except that Bokeh nonsense) my frames jumped massively on 1.5 and 2.0.

The stealth capabilities of the T-50 PAK FA
OneBlueSky replied to Hummingbird's topic in Military and Aviation
Like others posted, it's really hard to know what it "will be" from publicly demonstrated prototypes. Much like the US or anyone else, when it comes to important things, it probably won't show up at airshows or easily spotted areas for flight testing like the G limited, radar-less etc. prototype does. I am also not sure how slippery to radar they intend for it to be when it finally comes into service. From my understanding it was intended to be a combination of stealthy, maneuverable, and affordable. There are several improvements already mentioned that could improve it's stealth ability, and who knows what it will end up as. The whole world knows what could be done, I am sure they are well aware themselves. And it's not necessarily a bad approach. The F-22 and F-35 are massively expensive and offer few if any real world gains for the money over their active duty counterparts effectively making them a complete waste. Which is why they get so much controversy surrounding them. I doubt if they'll ever be used against superpowers that could reasonably be a threat large enough warranting them, and let's face it... The nations they'll be deployed against could just as easily be beaten by a handful of older US birds. Russia may have taken this financial mistake/disaster into account because these were two massive ones. For the engines though, Russians have used S-Intakes in the past as NOLA said, and there's very good reason they don't use them again, and other solutions exist to avoid RCS from the engines. (Better ones, arguably). They didn't forget or make a mistake in design, they've tried it, they know why it's a bad idea and elected to not use it. -
There's just something about the way the Russians paint planes! Translated amazingly well onto the Mirage, thanks again great work!

Su-27 Flight Qualification Campaign
OneBlueSky replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in User Created Missions General
Just purchased. Looking forward to trying it when the key comes in! -
Absolutely stunning. Thank you so much! Can't wait for it to show up :pilotfly:
