Hmm..no, but there is a pretty nice big one on the web 2603 x 1110 Looking forward to this! BeachAV8R

That looks awesome Nickmow..! This was the ride I was flying today - a little higher and faster than the Huey..(and a lot easier to land!)... <g> And the only storm within hundreds of miles on the arrival..haha.. BeachAV8R

For certain things - yes. I've heard one of the complaints is that access to the lower extremities of the patients isn't as good as on the bigger Bell models.. But maintenance, warranty, all that stuff is probably much better on a newer platform.. It would be an interesting Q&A for our pilots.. BeachAV8R

For me, it's the opposite: "Hey..what's going on back there..looks like they are hand bagging him and he threw up in the aisle....oh...yeah, we need to intercept that radial.." :D BeachAV8R
-
Yeah - a few years back they replaced the Bells with ECs.. The ECs are really cool, but that "whop whop whop" of the old Bells was awesome (particularly the one with the 2 blade versus the 4 blade rotors..) Here is our EC-135 (one of four of them).. BeachAV8R

Oh Man..that is so awesome.. You do skin requests? LOL.. My company's old Bell (sold them a few years back for EC-135s..bummer..) BeachAV8R

Agree on the FPS.. Be nice to see some wing bounce on some future offerings too...

VRS does them pretty good.. BeachAV8R

Did you read your original post? And my original reply? Your "issues" have more to do with your attitude than the gameplay issues that are there. If you weren't such a jerk you'd probably have a dozen servers, private or otherwise, that you could play on with ease. Something tells me you've been nixed from most anyway if this is you demonstrated attitude. I think EA servers are probably big enough for you to mix in well with the lowest common denominator - I'd start there. Here, you'll almost always find constructive responses to constructive criticism. Yours doesn't even come close to the threshold of being worth a reasonable response. And with that..I'll let you win. I do have an opinion. Just like you. For someone looking for so much discussion to solve problems you are awfully dismissive. Which can only mean one thing - you are less interested in helping than just being a PITA. Again  - congrats - you can't fly the A-10C worth a crap, but you are a successful troll. I'm sure there is a sim out there somewhere for you (I'd try Maxis)... Good luck! BeachAV8R

Isn't your countenance a shining example of why people DO form private squads and exclude certain individuals? This is a serious question. I wouldn't want to fly with you if your online persona matched your forum one. Some people always complain it is raining on them when in fact they are toting around their own rain cloud. So.. You only want to be able to fly the A-10C. You only want to fly it above 1200' because flying it appropriately due to the tactical scenario isn't cool with you. You don't want to play with people that don't speak your language. You want to play in the prime 9AM to 5PM weekday slot when most normal (* IE - English speaking people..since other countries don't count) people are at work. May I suggest... Skyrim or something? You had me at RUST. BeachAV8R

Erik is a great writer - and the article is a preview..not a review - thus, it is probably not going to be quite as critical as a full on review. Very nice read..and indicative of the advanced stage the "beta" is... BeachAV8R

It's not a stupid idea..it is very much a good idea. Would be great to be in a MP session being able to designate for other multi-players..(and direct ground forces using Combined Arms).. I would bet we'll see something like it in the future.. BeachAV8R

Whatif it was DCS World ?....
BeachAV8R replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thanks for the kind words. I have ED and the wonderful beta testing team to thank for a lot of the technical accuracy of those articles. They have endured countless requests for clarification from me.. <g> Our readers run the entire spectrum. We often get letters from readers that have just picked up the magazine for the first time and are making their first tentative forays into the world of PC flight simulators. Many times they are asking what kind of minimum hardware specs they should be looking for and good starting points for getting up and flying. To that end, we have a great staff of writers with all kinds of aviation background experience. Some of our guys and gals are great at technical programming details and scenery building, while others are great instructors that help people learn the fundamentals and advanced topics. I think we have a large segment of the readership that really appreciate historical accuracy and depth of systems modeling. Level D, Carenado, Flight1, Aerosoft and a few other of the high end add-on developers seem to garner a lot of the enthusiasm. The spectrum of add-ons for MSFS is so diverse though: utilities, scenery, weather generators, aircraft, hardware, etc.. Regarding the DCS coverage - my editor has indicated and some reader letters have confirmed that they are definitely onboard with giving play time to DCS due to the complexity and realism of the modules. I'd say that right now two of the biggest obstacles to further inroads are the lack of detailed ATC and of course the relatively small theater size compared to the global coverage of FSX. And FSX is firmly entrenched with organizations that do online flying with realistic procedures (VATSIM). But we are making progress toward turning people on to DCS World.. Agreed. There is a very special feeling of accomplishment when one gets into something like the Ka-50 or A-10C and performs the entire dance to get the cold and lifeless cockpit up and running. And of course that only multiplies when you get airborne in a hostile environment with mission goals. Pulling off a difficult mission successfully with all of the variables is a great feeling. I often compare the missions to a game because they certainly have gameplay elements to them. Embracing that instead of saying in mock horror that DCS isn't a "game" would work in our favor toward attracting more users to the genre.. Thanks for the comments.. BeachAV8R -
Whatif it was DCS World ?....
BeachAV8R replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
That is a topic I've been stressing in my frequent articles about DCS in PC Pilot magazine - that indeed DCS and DCS modules are a fantastic standalone flight simulator as well as a great combat flight simulator. Our readers at PC Pilot have a long history with Microsoft Flight Simulator products and it will no doubt continue to be the core of our topics. But over the years we've been incorporating more and more alternatives such as Rise of Flight and DCS. I've been fortunate to be able to showcase some of the DCS lineup with six feature articles, and two recurring series training articles for the Ka-50 (6 issues) and the continuing series with the A-10C (we are now on the 8th tutorial issue next month for that). We will be featuring the UH-1H in our next issue. Throughout, I've stressed to our somewhat civil aviation minded readers that something like the Ka-50 or A-10C is actually comparable or beyond something you'd see from Level D or Carenado products. Additionally, you have a whole interactive theater and weapons and combat if you so choose to use them. But the point is, you don't have to use the weapons or play it as a combat flight simulator - you can really enjoy it as a fine simulator in its own right. I think great things are ahead for DCS - with even wider appeal and a broad spectrum of modules. It will be great when scenery or theater development really starts advancing. Chris "BeachAV8R" Frishmuth Full disclosure: I write for PC Pilot and I love DCS products.. <g> -
Yeah..should have used up a little more collective there in the autorotation, but it doesn't have recording, so I had to fly that from that view..LOL..kind of hard to judge the flare.. :pilotfly: BeachAV8R

Old video I had made from SAR Vietnam Medevac..go to the 1 minute mark and you'll see my sling load wreaking havoc.. LOL.. BeachAV8R

Noticed that the mini-gun barrels start to get progressively more orange to red as they heat up from sustained firing.. Wow..awesome little detail there..! BeachAV8R

Just seems to make sense doesn't it? 90% of the fun of this helo is the challenge of flying it proficiently.. My fondest memories of Black Shark missions are some of the ones that had you flying at the very edges of the envelope. I recall one mission where you had to engage some targets at a very high mountain pass and it was all you could do to stay stable enough to make the attack runs.. It was by QA (awesome mission..) As a BIG fan of the old Search and Rescue series, it doesn't take too much of a leap to envision DCS as filling that niche with some awesome custom (and challenging) flying scenarios. Throw in weather, malfunctions, heavy loads, and great scripting tools and we could have a real winner. I haven't been following closely the development - is there any discussions on modeling external sling loads or rescue swimmers/hoist operations? Man..I hope so.. BeachAV8R

One way in... One way out.. curvatures that worked for me
BeachAV8R replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Wow.. Reminds me of this horrific crash (pilot did survive).. How do I embed a YouTube? Nice job WBK! -
Ah..that explains it! Very nicely done. Will be very cool on high density altitude missions where just struggling to fly will be a challenge. I remember reading many stories of overweight conditions in Robert Mason's book. He said they could drag the skids on the runway to get enough translational lift to get airborne.. And sometimes they went THROUGH the trees.. Necessity is the mother of invention they say.. :shocking:
